While Season 2 of “Wheel of Time” concluded Friday, filming on the Prime Video fantasy series’ third season had already started filming prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike.
“I am speaking to you a day after filming it. We are in the midst of it. Prime Video dropped a sneak peek of “Wheel of Time” Season 2 ahead of its release on Sept. 1, which fans can now watch at the end of last season’s finale.
According to the Amazon-owned streamer, the special look “reflects the structure of the best-selling and epic “The Wheel of Time” book series by Robert Jordan,” in which he would add the first chapter of the next book as a preview.
The scene, which opens the first episode of the second season, is an adaptation of the fan favorite “Darkfriend Social” prologue of the second novel of Jordan’s series, “The Great Hunt,” upon which “Wheel of Time” Season 2 is largely based. It’s also based on some elements of Jordan’s third novel, “The Dragon Reborn.”

Exclusive: On-the-block super-indie All3Media saw revenues rocket to £1B ($1.3B) last year, as accounts reveal it has taken majority voting control of The Traitors producer Studio Lambert.
According to a Companies House filing for the outfit’s holding company Dlg Acquisitions, All3Media boosted sales by 17% for the 2022 calendar year, with revenues just topping the £1B mark.
Ebitda shot up by a similar proportion to £100M and total group operating profit was up from £26M to £40M. In 2022, All3Media produced more than 4,000 hours of programing including the likes of The Traitors, The Tinder Swindler and The Tourist.
The group said the “current macro-economic climate including the continued impact of Covid-19 and the impact of inflation presents a risk and challenge,” however.
The issue is being managed by “reviewing production protocols and analysing opportunities to produce content more efficiently,” amongst other approaches, it added.

Narrative storyline with songs sung in the voices of characters? Check. Cover packaging that made it look more like a scrapbook than an album? Check. Accompanying booklet laying out the concept? Check. Symphonic fanfare that opens the album and is reprised at the end? Check. All of it spread over two LPs, just like Tommy and Jesus Chris Superstar? Double check.

“California here we come, right back where we started from’… unfortunately for Fox the opening lines of The O.C. theme tune will not come true this year.

Andie MacDowell missed the Cannes debut of “Sex, Lies & Videotape” 30 years ago but has made up for it since, walking the festival’s fabled red carpet more times than she can remember. Fox today made the bulk of its new series pickups, ordering four dramas — Prodigal Son, starring Tom Payne and Michael Sheen; neXt, starring John Slattery police drama Deputy, headlined by Stephen Dorff; the Annie Weisman/Jason Katims sister drama; based on an Australian format — and comedy Outmatched (fka Geniuses).
That leaves two more drama pilots and three comedy ones. While I hear Fox is yet to give official passes, most of the remaining pilots are not going forward at the network.
In best shape is soapy family drama Filthy Rich, headlined by Kim Cattrall, which is considered a lock as a possible companion to Empire, with details currently being worked out. Fox just made its first new series pickups, ordering four of its six drama pilots to series. That includes cop/serial killer drama Prodigal Son, starring Tom Payne and Michael Sheen; John Slattery’s AI drama neXt; police drama Deputy, headlined by Stephen Dorff; and the Annie Weisman/Jason Katims sister drama; based on an Australian format.
The drama competition at Fox had been fierce virtually from the start with five of the six pilots emerging as solid contenders. The fifth in the group — soapy family drama Filthy Rich, headlined by Kim Cattrall, which is considered a suitable companion to Empire — remains in contention with deals being worked out.
The mass pickup of new drama series at Fox, which only ordered two new hourlong shows last year, is not good news for the network’s bubble dramas, Lethal Weapon, The Passage and Star.
Fox Orders Live-Action Comedy Series ‘Outmatched’ and Animated ‘The Great North’
I hear Fox’s sixth drama pilot, Tom Kapinos’ Lovestruck, is not going forward at the network. But the show, whose first season takes place over the course of single night at a wedding, reportedly had tested well and has been well received within 20th Century Fox TV, which is expected to shop it elsewhere, similarly to its 2018 Fox pilot Mixtape, which was picked up to series by Netflix.
Of the newly picked-up Fox dramas, one, neXt (plus Filthy Rich), comes from Fox’s former corporate sibling 20th Century Fox TV. The others come from other studios, Warner Bros. TV (Prodigal Son), Universal TV (Weisman/Katims) and eOne (Deputy), underlining the now-independent network’s commitment to work with all suppliers. All are co-productions with Fox Entertainment. The Fox drama lineup also includes top acting talent with Sheen, Slattery and Dorff.
The pickup of Prodigal Son makes it 3-for-3 for Berlanti Prods., with all three of the company’s broadcast pilots this season going to series, including the CW’s Batwoman and Katy Keene.
Prodigal Son passed one of the biggest tests for a pilot – recasting its lead, with Payne replacing originally cast Finn Jones after the pilot read. Payne and Sheen, who plays his father, proved a formidable duo, drawing praise for their acting — especially Sheen who has a showcase role as a notorious serial killer.
2019 Fox Pilots and Series Orders
Police drama Deputy has been praised for Dorff’s acting and the directing work of Bright helmer David Ayer. eOne secured Dorff in what might be the biggest talent deal so far this broadcast pilot season. Dorff will reportedly be paid north of $200,000 an episode. If the show goes to a second season, Dorff would become an executive producer. In conjunction with his casting in Deputy, Dorff made a feature script development deal with eOne to develop and star in a movie, which would be produced by Ayer and Chris Long’s Cedar Park Entertainment.
The four dramas join two comedies picked up to series today by Fox, Outmatched (fka Geniuses) and animated half-hour The Great North. and previously ordered straight-to-series animated comedies Bless the Harts and Duncanville.
Here are detailed descriptions and credits for Fox’s newly picked up drama series:

Nicole Richie is taking on a role she probably knows a thing or two about: publicist.
The Great News vet will co-star opposite Thomas Lennon in the Fox comedy pilot Richard Lovely, our sister site Deadline reports.
The project follows Richard Lovely (Lennon), the disgruntled author of the bestselling children’s book series, Mr. Mouse. After a publicity fiasco involving an unexpectedly savvy 9-year-old kid, Mr. Mouse appears in Richard’s real life as he is forced into an unlikely father/son relationship. Richie will play Kelli, Richard’s “high-functioning millennial” publicist, who is his polar opposite in every way.
