Grant Rosenmeyer, Sean San José, Nora Dunn, More Are ‘Behind The Eight-Ball’
Image
Exclusive: Grant Rosenmeyer, Sean San José (Sing Sing), Nora Dunn, Katherine Cunningham (Yellowstone) and Alexis Allotta (Happily Never After) are starring in the semi-autobiographical drama Behind the Eight-Ball. The pic reps the feature directorial debut of Nathan Israileff.

Loosely inspired by Israileff’s experiences, Behind the Eight-Ball follows Trevor (Rosenmeyer) a high-functioning cocaine addict whose spiraling substance abuse threatens his career and closest relationships – forcing him to confront his demons and fight for redemption as his life unravels around him.

Israileff and Rosenmeyer are producing through their companies Artisanal Interrobang and Florida Hill respectively alongside producer Katelyn Henslin.

After sitting out the last movie due to a pay dispute, Neve Campbell returns to star as Sidney Prescott. Courteney Cox is also back as Gale Weathers, as is David Arquette as Dewey Riley. ‘You’re Cordially Invited’ Cast and Character Guide: Who’s Who at This Chaotic Wedding?
Image
There is a wildcard at every wedding, but in the case of “You’re Cordially Invited,” there are two. And they are played by Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon.

Now streaming on Prime, the film directed by Nicholas Stoller centers on two families who unknowingly double book their weddings at the same small inn — an inn that can really only accommodate one wedding. For Jim (Ferrell), it is his daughter’s, and for Margot (Witherspoon), it is her sister’s. Naturally, the two immediately go insane, trying to force the other to back down.

Somehow, Ferrell and Witherspoon have never led a comedy together, but they are doing it now with a very familiar cast.

Here are the major players you need to know.

Jim is Jenni’s dad, who has been raising her on his own for years since his wife’s death.

Why Did Topher Grace Leave That '70s Show?
Image
"That '70s Show" went on for eight seasons, although most fans agree that not all of those seasons were created equal. Where exactly is the cutoff line between good "That '70s Show" and bad "That '70s Show?" Some say it's around the point where Donna went blonde. Others say it was shortly after Kelso and Donna returned from California. Some say the decline started as early as mid-season 3, when Lisa Robin Kelly left the show. One thing's clear, though: nobody cares much for season 8, because that's the season where Eric (Topher Grace) isn't in it.

In a certain sense, Eric's departure was inevitable. He was the smart, bookish member of the gang, someone who should've surely gone off to college shortly after season 5, but the show's longevity had the writers jumping through hoops to explain why he was sticking around so long after high school in seasons 6 and 7. Red's heart...

Sasheer Zamata on Showing Her Dramatic Side in ‘Agatha All Along’ and Coming Out as a Lesbian
Image
[This story contains spoilers from the third episode of Agatha All Along, “Through Many Miles / Of Tricks and Trials.”]

Former Saturday Night Live star Sasheer Zamata has entered a new realm of fandom with her role as Jennifer Kale on the newly launched Disney+ superhero dark comedy Agatha All Along.

“I think I’m ready,” Zamata told The Hollywood Reporter ahead of the series debut on Sept. 18. “I guess I won’t know until it happens, but I am excited because I think Marvel fans will love it. We’re really stepping into the magic side of Marvel and that’s really exciting and fun.”

The WandaVision spinoff finds Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha disingenuously reassembling a reluctant coven to regain her supernatural powers. Among them is Zamata’s character, a potions witch who runs an organic skincare apothecary of sorts when not dabbling in the occult. In episode three, “Through Many Miles / Of Tricks and Trials,” Jennifer saves the...

This Canceled-Too-Soon Sitcom Should've Been Modern Family's Replacement & It Avoided That Show's Big Problem
Image
Home Economics was a criminally short-lived sitcom that both built on the success of Modern Family's template and improved some of its biggest weaknesses. Modern Family was a wildly successful mockumentary that brought diverse representations of what a family can look like into peoples living rooms. The final season of Modern Family aired in 2020, but many elements of the show already feel outdated, especially compared to the sitcom that would debut on the same network just a year later.

Modern Family explored the dynamics between three branches of a family in Los Angeles. Home Economics, by contrast, centered on three adult siblings and their families in San Francisco, as the oldest brother prepares to write a book about their lives. Both series showcase different types of marriages, ethnicities, and financial situations, but Home Economics avoids leaning into troubling stereotypes that Modern Family never softened over its 11 seasons.

“Still hasn’t forgiven Peter Parker for getting him fired”: Topher Grace’s Hate For Spider-Man Transcends Sam Raimi’s Trilogy and We Love It
Image
Of all the characters he has embodied to date, perhaps Topher Grace’s most iconic one still ranks as that of Eddie Brock aka Venom in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man saga. Immaculately embracing his character like he was made for it, the actor gave the performance of a lifetime in the trilogy as he rivaled Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker.

But while his onscreen hatred for the friendly neighborhood superhero while still in character was one thing, it seems like Grace actually held onto that feeling even after leaving his character behind. This is because, even when he was asked to meet and greet the web-slinger in real life, the actor didn’t hesitate to let his dislike for the character be known!

Station 19 Fans Are Desperate to Save the Show … But Is It Actually Ending at the Perfect Time?
Topher Grace, Karla Souza, Sasheer Zamata, Caitlin McGee, and Jimmy Tatro in Home Economics (2021)
TV fans are no strangers to the whims of network decisions. We've suffered numerous heartbreaks when a network chooses to axe a show, often without warning.

The WGA/AMPTP writer strikes of 2023 significantly affected the future of the series across all prime networks like CBS, Fox, NBC, and ABC. Plenty of shows have ended in the year since.

Many shows, like Home Economics and The Rookie: Feds, surprised loyal viewers. One recently canceled series that has experienced major upheaval is the Grey's Anatomy firefighting spinoff Station 19.

Station 19 is currently on its seventh -- and final -- season, much to viewers' dismay.

Since the announcement in late 2023, fans everywhere have risen in protest. We've seen billboards, ads, social media posts, and more, all with the hashtag #SaveStation19.

Is Now the Right Time to Cancel Station 19?

Station 19 is the brainchild of Shonda Rhimes, the creator of Grey's Anatomy.

Network TV 2023: What’s New, Renewed and Canceled (So Far)
Image
The more things change, the more things stay the same.

That may as well be the motto for the five broadcast networks heading into the 2023-24 season as their corporate parents are increasingly focused on cutting costs, restructurings and streaming. To that end, three of the five networks have made leadership changes in the past year.

The biggest change comes at The CW, which is now majority controlled by Nexstar with former Pop topper Brad Schwartz now tasked with making the younger-skewing network profitable for the first time following the unexpected departure of TV’s longest-tenured president, Mark Pedowitz. Over at CBS, Kelly Kahl and his top lieutenant Thom Sherman and their sizable paydays were bounced in favor of former head of current Amy Reisenbach. Over at Fox, Charlie Collier — who led the network following the sale of its studio counterpart — bailed for Roku with the broadcaster tapping unscripted chief...

James Gunn Named PETA’s 2023 Person of the Year – Film News in Brief
Image
Director James Gunn has been named PETA’s 2023 Person of the Year. Per the animal rights organization, Gunn has been selected “for using impressive and stunningly well-crafted CGI animals to inspire tens of millions of moviegoers—who flocked to theaters to see ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’—to have compassion for the millions of animals killed by experimenters in laboratories.”

The third installment of “Guardians of the Galaxy” explains Rocket Raccoon’s origin story as a test subject in a lab, alongside other animals.

“By telling the story of the millions of vulnerable animals abused in experiments, James Gunn has shown himself to be a true animal guardian,” says PETA president Ingrid Newkirk. “PETA is delighted to honor him for encouraging exactly what the world needs: empathy for all living beings.”

James Pickens Jr., Ellen Pompeo, and Chandra Wilson in Grey's Anatomy (2005)
9-1-1 Paired With Grey's Anatomy as ABC Plots 2024 Premiere Dates
James Pickens Jr., Ellen Pompeo, and Chandra Wilson in Grey's Anatomy (2005)
ABC is the latest network to reveal when fans can expect their favorite series to return to the air following the end of the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes.

The schedule has plenty of big surprises, including 9-1-1 landing on a new night after moving to the Alphabet network from Fox.

9-1-1 Season 7 has scored the Thursday lead-off spot, where it will lead into Grey's Anatomy Season 20.

Previous 8 p.m. occupant, Station 19 is airing out of Grey's Anatomy in the 10 p.m. slot.

That's very late for the spinoff, but we'll reserve judgment on that until we lay eyes on the numbers.

Moving 9-1-1 away from Mondays is a choice because the show has continuously delivered strong ratings throughout its run.

There's also the chance many viewers will be confused by the move and won't follow it to ABC, so there are many variables here.

Grey's Anatomy Season...
