Lionsgate Television Group has upped Taylor du Pont to Head of Television Post-Production where she will oversee post-production on the studio’s slate of scripted series.

That list of shows includes Apple TV+ hit The Studio, The Rookie, renewed for its eighth season at ABC, an upcoming Rookie spinoff, MGM+’s reimagining of Robin Hood; USA Network’s The Rainmaker, several PowerUniverse series and Spartacus: House of Ashur for Starz.

Lionsgate TV group has promoted Taylor du Pont to lead the studio’s post-production as Bobby Williams, who currently holds the position, retires.

After most recently serving as director of TV post-production, du Pont will expand her role to oversee post-production across all of the studio’s scripted series, including ABC’s “The Rookie,” MGM+’s “Robin Hood,” USA Network’s “The Rainmaker,” multiple series in the “Power” universe and Starz’ “Spartacus: House of Ashur.”

Williams is retiring after being with Lionsgate for 23 years. Over the course of his time as EVP and head of TV post-production, Williams worked on series like “Mad Men,” “Orange Is the New Black,” “Weeds,” “Nurse Jackie” and “Nashville,” and most recently led post-production on “The Studio,” “Mythic Quest,” “Acapulco,” “The Rainmaker” and “The Continental.”

Exclusive: Grant Rosenmeyer, Sean San José (Sing Sing), Nora Dunn, Katherine Cunningham (Yellowstone) and Alexis Allotta (Happily Never After) are starring in the semi-autobiographical drama Behind the Eight-Ball. The pic reps the feature directorial debut of Nathan Israileff.

Loosely inspired by Israileff’s experiences, Behind the Eight-Ball follows Trevor (Rosenmeyer) a high-functioning cocaine addict whose spiraling substance abuse threatens his career and closest relationships – forcing him to confront his demons and fight for redemption as his life unravels around him.

Says the filmmaker, “The film is a ‘love letter’ to functional addicts who are afraid to speak up or admit embarrassment for their ongoing issues, letting them know they are not alone and the depression they feel is felt by many.”

Israileff and Rosenmeyer are producing through their companies Artisanal Interrobang and Florida Hill respectively alongside producer Katelyn Henslin.

Details about their roles have not been disclosed, but either one could potentially be playing the next person to be unmasked as a Ghostface killer, given how that changes with each installment. Paramount is releasing the seventhquel, just like it did with the last two movies. This one comes out on Feb. 27, 2026. Kevin Williamson, the architect of the Scream franchise who wrote the original Wes Craven directed 1996 title, is directing. Guy Busick, scribe of 2022’s Scream and Scream VI, is penning the screenplay. Producers are Project X Entertainment’s James Vanderbilt, William Sherak and Paul Neinstein.

Home Economics was a criminally short-lived sitcom that both built on the success of Modern Family's template and improved some of its biggest weaknesses. Modern Family was a wildly successful mockumentary that brought diverse representations of what a family can look like into peoples living rooms. The final season of Modern Family aired in 2020, but many elements of the show already feel outdated, especially compared to the sitcom that would debut on the same network just a year later.

Tatro can currently be seen starring in The Real Bros of Simi Valley on Roku, a film he co-wrote, directed and executive produced. The film, a parody of The Real Housewives and Jersey Shore, began as a web series on Tatro’s YouTube page before moving to Facebook after Tatro broke out as one of the stars of Netflix’s American Vandal, a role for which he earned a Critics Choice Award nomination for Best Actor. The web series aired two seasons on Facebook Watch, running for a total of three seasons, ending in 2020.

Tatro previously starred for three seasons alongside Topher Grace in ABC’s Home Economics.

Joanna Newsom is currently in the midst of her “Strings/Keys” residency at The Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever in Los Angeles. During her matinee performance on Saturday (May 18th), the singer-songwriter played a set filled with children’s songs and debuted a new composition titled “Rovenshere.”

Newsom had advertised the Saturday show as “not only suitable for children, but specifically designed with them in mind,” which meant playing covers of “Teddy Bears’ Picnic” and Jim Henson’s “Tadpole” and “The Frogs in the Glen” while accompanied by puppeteers.

To close out the concert, however, Newsom treated the audience to the live debut of “Rovenshere,” which features fanciful lyrics like, “Our love is in the very ground/ And suspended in the air/ O’er the land of Rovenshere.” Watch the fan-shot video below.

Elsewhere during her residency, Newsom has been joined on stage by Robin Pecknold and Amber Coffman.

Netflix has settled on a title for its upcoming Kristen Bell-Adam Brody comedy series — and we couldn’t disagree more with its sentiment.

The half-hour project, formerly known as Untitled Erin Foster Show, will now be called Nobody Wants This, and will premiere with all 10 episodes on Thursday, Sept. 26, Netflix announced Wednesday at its Upfront presentation.

TV fans are no strangers to the whims of network decisions. We've suffered numerous heartbreaks when a network chooses to axe a show, often without warning.

The WGA/AMPTP writer strikes of 2023 significantly affected the future of the series across all prime networks like CBS, Fox, NBC, and ABC. Plenty of shows have ended in the year since.

Many shows, like Home Economics and The Rookie: Feds, surprised loyal viewers. One recently canceled series that has experienced major upheaval is the Grey's Anatomy firefighting spinoff Station 19.

Station 19 is currently on its seventh -- and final -- season, much to viewers' dismay.

Since the announcement in late 2023, fans everywhere have risen in protest. We've seen billboards, ads, social media posts, and more, all with the hashtag #SaveStation19.

Is Now the Right Time to Cancel Station 19?

Station 19 is the brainchild of Shonda Rhimes, the creator of Grey's Anatomy.

In the series, jumping off from Moore’s true-life story, Happy Face (Quaid) is an incarcerated serial killer who also is Melissa’s (Ashford) once-beloved father. After decades of no contact, he finally finds a way to force himself back into his daughter’s life.

Paramount Global has chosen the nine writers who will participate in the Paramount Writers Mentoring Program for 2024-2025. Selected in the program’s 20th year are Jamil Akim O’Quinn, Wei Ling Chang, Adrian Colón Jr., Jai Franklin Sarki, Seth Harrington, Natalie Higdon, writing team Dijorn Moss & Trinea Moss and Nick Spates.

The Paramount Office of Global Inclusion helms the program. It is an eight-month-long program that provides mentorships, career development, support and personal access to executives and the decision-making processes for new writers in television. Exclusive: Topher Grace (That ’90s Show) and Michelle Dockery (Downton Abbey: A New Era) have been tapped for roles opposite Academy Award nominee Mark Wahlberg in Flight Risk, the suspense thriller that Mel Gibson is helming for Lionsgate. The project marks Gibson’s first outing behind the camera since the Academy Award-nominated war drama Hacksaw Ridge for the same studio, as we previously reported.

In the suspense thriller, Wahlberg plays a pilot transporting an Air Marshal (Dockery), who’s been tasked with accompanying a fugitive (Grace) to trial. As they cross the Alaskan wilderness, tensions soar and trust is tested, as not everyone on board is who they seem.

Pic is based on the 2020 Black List script by Jared Rosenberg. Davis Entertainment is producing alongside Gibson and Bruce Davey through their Icon Productions.

Check back for latest … The fall TV season was upended by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, but the beat goes on, though heavy with reality and other unscripted fare like game shows. As Hollywood begins to recover from the dual labor actions, here again is Deadline’s annual list of premiere dates for new and returning TV series.

The roster covers hundreds broadcast, cable and streaming programs debuting through 2023. It includes series and season debuts, shows returning from hiatus and some one-offs such as live sports and awards specials but not movies. The list includes shows that had been set for the fall season but are in limbo for now. Note that older 2023 premiere dates are listed at the bottom.

The more things change, the more things stay the same.

That may as well be the motto for the five broadcast networks heading into the 2023-24 season as their corporate parents are increasingly focused on cutting costs, restructurings and streaming. To that end, three of the five networks have made leadership changes in the past year.

The biggest change comes at The CW, which is now majority controlled by Nexstar with former Pop topper Brad Schwartz now tasked with making the younger-skewing network profitable for the first time following the unexpected departure of TV’s longest-tenured president, Mark Pedowitz. Over at CBS, Kelly Kahl and his top lieutenant Thom Sherman and their sizable paydays were bounced in favor of former head of current Amy Reisenbach. Over at Fox, Charlie Collier — who led the network following the sale of its studio counterpart — bailed for Roku with the broadcaster tapping unscripted chief...

Rideback Rise, the nonprofit content accelerator announced last summer by Rideback producer Dan Lin to help level the playing field for Bipoc creators, has revealed its inaugural cohort.

Six Fellows will each receive a $50,000 grant, while 10 Residents will each receive $10,000 in funding to develop their own film and television projects, which they will own and be free to set up or sell anywhere. The Fellows also have access to an Intellectual Property Fund to help them obtain rights to material as well as a Visuals Fund to help them create high-quality presentations and sizzle reels to pitch their projects. Rise is supported by a growing mix of private and institutional donors, led by the Ford Foundation, MacArthur Foundation and Doris Duke Foundation.

During the yearlong program, Rise seeks to foster a community among the inaugural cohort of Fellows and Rise, encouraging them to learn about and provide feedback on one another’s projects.

Rideback Rise, the 501c3 non-profit Bipoc content accelerator launched by producer Dan Lin to advance racial equity, has selected its inaugural cohort of 16 writers and filmmakers who will be financially and creatively supported as they seek to develop their own market-ready mainstream TV and film projects.

The cohort revealed Tuesday is composed of six “fellows” who will receive $50,000 grants for the year-long fellowship, and 10 “residents” who each receive $10,000 in funding. Fellows are additionally eligible to access an Intellectual Property Fund to secure underlying rights to material as well as a Visuals Fund to create presentations and reels for their projects.

The Fellows and Residents, selected from more than 400 applicants, will work from Rise’s offices located at Rideback Ranch in Los Angeles’ Historic Filipinotown.

Director James Gunn has been named PETA’s 2023 Person of the Year. Per the animal rights organization, Gunn has been selected “for using impressive and stunningly well-crafted CGI animals to inspire tens of millions of moviegoers—who flocked to theaters to see ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’—to have compassion for the millions of animals killed by experimenters in laboratories.”

The third installment of “Guardians of the Galaxy” explains Rocket Raccoon’s origin story as a test subject in a lab, alongside other animals.

“By telling the story of the millions of vulnerable animals abused in experiments, James Gunn has shown himself to be a true animal guardian,” says PETA president Ingrid Newkirk. “PETA is delighted to honor him for encouraging exactly what the world needs: empathy for all living beings.”

Gunn also adopted his dog, Ozu, in May 2022 and promoted #AdoptDontShop on each post related to his dog’s journey.

ABC is the latest network to reveal when fans can expect their favorite series to return to the air following the end of the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes.

The schedule has plenty of big surprises, including 9-1-1 landing on a new night after moving to the Alphabet network from Fox.

9-1-1 Season 7 has scored the Thursday lead-off spot, where it will lead into Grey's Anatomy Season 20.

Previous 8 p.m. occupant, Station 19 is airing out of Grey's Anatomy in the 10 p.m. slot.

That's very late for the spinoff, but we'll reserve judgment on that until we lay eyes on the numbers.

Moving 9-1-1 away from Mondays is a choice because the show has continuously delivered strong ratings throughout its run.

There's also the chance many viewers will be confused by the move and won't follow it to ABC, so there are many variables here.

Grey's Anatomy Season...

ABC is the second broadcast network, following CBS, to announce dates for its delayed, post-strike slate.

ABC’s midseason schedule kicks off in late January with the premiere of The Bachelor: Joey Graziadei Edition, which will be followed by a new, true crime-themed 20/20 offshoot.
