Qualor II is the location of a Federation surplus depot, where old decommissioned vessels from Starfleet and Federation worlds are sent to be stripped of armament and other sensitive technology prior to either being sold for civilian use or scrapped; the planet and depot were featured in Unification I (1991). Starbase Earhart is where a young Ensign Jean-Luc Picard was stationed after graduating from Starfleet Academy awaiting his first deep space assignment. It is also where he was seriously injured in a fight with Nausicaans and was featured in Tapestry (1993).
This is the 800th episode in the franchise.
The only official appearance of Robert Duncan McNeill as Tom Paris in any Star Trek film or television series outside of Star Trek: Voyager (1995). This excludes The First Duty (1992), where he played Nick Locarno (the earlier character from which Tom Paris is loosely based).
The male Orions are shown being subordinate to Tendi and Mariner refers to her "Orion pheromones". In Bound (2005) it is found out that the main reason Orion women are found to be irresistibly attractive to men from most species, and so easily able to seduce them, is because they emit a pheromone that makes most men compliant, so much so that it borders on mind control. In fact the Orion "slave girls" the Enterprise rescue wind up nearly taking over the ship by getting the male crew members to do their bidding, and in Orion society they are not slaves at all, their culture is a matriarchal one where the men are ruled and controlled by the women.
