In an idyllic little town, young Swan works in a fresh juice shop directly opposite Franz's bicycle repair shop. When her bike chain breaks one day, she takes the opportunity to get to know Franz better. A longing romance then develops between the two. Their happiness seems immeasurable - until a certain Dr Coppelius drives up to the market square in a purple limousine to build a beauty clinic so huge that it towers over the entire town. An advertising campaign puts the doll Coppelia with her dream body center stage - the innocent citizens fall under her spell and begin to doubt themselves. Dr Coppelius - so the advertising claims - can give anyone and everyone a perfect body. In reality, the doctor befuddles his patients and steals their best qualities in order to instill them in his robot wife Coppelia, who becomes more and more perfect and human as a result. Coppelius takes away the baker's strength, the mayor's intelligence and Swan's mother's joy. All three of them are in love with themselves and think they are beautiful, even though nothing has changed in their outward appearance apart from a purple glint in their eyes. The only thing Dr Coppelius is missing to complete his doll is the true love of a human being - which he finds in Franz's heart. When Swan watches Coppelia abduct the befuddled Franz to the clinic at night, she doesn't have much time to save her lover's heart .
