Quotes
-
Jimmy Perillo : Look at this craftsmanship, the stitching, the leather. Of course it's mine.
Odafin Tutuola : So you can tell us who bought 'em?
Jimmy Perillo : Not on your life.
Dominick Carisi : People pay thousands for these; you're telling me you don't keep records?
Jimmy Perillo : Of course I keep records. They pay thousands because they expect privacy.
Odafin Tutuola : The person that bought that shoe may have killed a woman. I don't know anything about cobbler/client confidentiality.
-
Case Manager Morris : I really thought Torie might turn it around.
Amanda Rollins : When'd you lose track of her?
Case Manager Morris : Few months back. She'd been clean almost a year. One day she missed an appointment, haven't seen her since.
Dominick Carisi : Did you try to get in touch?
Case Manager Morris : Of course. She went off the grid.
Dominick Carisi : So... so that's it? You just give up?
Case Manager Morris : I tried as hard as I could to save that girl, Detective. We all did.
Amanda Rollins : Okay, well, we just need to notify her next of kin.
Case Manager Morris : She doesn't have any. Torie was in foster care her whole life. Started drinking at age 12 after being sexually abused in one of the homes. On the streets at 16.
Dominick Carisi : So this was inevitable? That-that... that's what you're saying?
Case Manager Morris : I'm saying you can't save them all.
-
Dominick Carisi : That's your, uh... your filing system?
Jimmy Perillo : I do better with a lathe than a laptop. Five eyelet, cap toe oxford, size 12?
Dominick Carisi : Yeah, that's right.
Jimmy Perillo : Couldn't made more than 50, 60 pair.
Odafin Tutuola : That's a start, I think.
Jimmy Perillo : I have been making bespoke footwear for half a century. The key, hand sculpting a wooden last for each and every customer's foot.
Dominick Carisi : That's how they get such a perfect fit.
Odafin Tutuola : So, he finds the last and we find our prince?
Dominick Carisi : Exactly.
[Perillo finds the right last]
Dominick Carisi : If the shoe fits.
-
Collum O'Connor : Fine, that's my shoe. What do you want?
Dominick Carisi : Well, we just got a couple of questions for you, Mr. O'Connor.
Collum O'Connor : I can explain.
Odafin Tutuola : [showing him a picture on his phone] Explain this.
Collum O'Connor : Torie. She's dead? Oh, my god, they killed her.
Odafin Tutuola : Time to take a ride, Cinderella.
-
Sgt. Phoebe Baker : Yeah, it's like playing Whac-A-Mole these days. The Internet moved traditional street trade indoors, so now we just target the more obvious fronts.
Odafin Tutuola : The Thai rub/tug joints?
Sgt. Phoebe Baker : Something you wanna confess, Sergeant?
Dominick Carisi : You two go way back, huh?
Sgt. Phoebe Baker : Yep, to Fin's Narco days, back when he used to have to work for a living.
Odafin Tutuola : Baker's been busting my balls for over twenty years.
-
Sgt. Phoebe Baker : So, what did your john call this place?
Odafin Tutuola : The Dollhouse.
Sgt. Phoebe Baker : These operations are getting wise. The "pop-up" brothels are the new frontier.
Dominick Carisi : Yeah, they open for a few days, maybe a week, right? Constantly changing locations.
Sgt. Phoebe Baker : Exactly. And when the feds, in their infinite wisdom, decided to shut down Backpage, they became even tougher to track.
Dominick Carisi : So they should have kept the site open? I mean, it facilitates prostitution, money laundering, sex trafficking.
Sgt. Phoebe Baker : Well, it's called the oldest profession for a reason, they went online. Now you just gotta know where to look, and lucky for you two, I do.
-
Dominick Carisi : The M.E. got a hit on the prints. The Jane Doe's name is Torie Meeks.
Olivia Benson : So she's in the system?
Amanda Rollins : Yep, popped twice for heroin possession, once for breaking and entering.
Dominick Carisi : Heroin, huh? Fitz said that the victim had heroin in the tox screen.
Amanda Rollins : Well, after the B&E, she qualified for drug court, she pled guilty, entered the program.
Olivia Benson : Okay, so talk to whoever handled the case.
-
Amanda Rollins : Torie did what addicts in recovery do, she relapsed.
Olivia Benson : Okay, can we track down who ran the brothel?
Odafin Tutuola : I talked to the building owner, dude's a slumlord. Only thing he remembers about the tenants is they offered to pay him twice his asking fee.
Olivia Benson : And what about the gun? The gun that was found near Torie's body.
Dominick Carisi : We're still waiting on ballistics. There's no usable DNA at the scene, no prints, nothing on the cameras.
Amanda Rollins : I gotta ask, are we wasting our time here? I mean, she is a junkie who relapsed, she started turning tricks. She's on the run, high, she might have just jumped off that roof.
Olivia Benson : And whether she jumped or she was pushed, that girl was brutalized. And they just up and left in the middle of the night?
Odafin Tutuola : Well, they know how to get away. Only thing left was a magazine, some junk, some random shoe.
Dominick Carisi : Wait, hold on. Let me see that for a second. This is not just some random shoe, it's a $2,500 Paretto. I-I've dreamed of owning a pair of these for years. They're custom-made.
Olivia Benson : Meaning the store might have a record of who bought them.
-
Dominick Carisi : So, we actually believe this guy?
Odafin Tutuola : That he's a bored husband that goes to hookers? Yeah.
Amanda Rollins : All right, well, TARU ran the number that he called. Surprise, it's a burner.
Olivia Benson : So, Torie said that she'd rather go to jail. She attacked her pimp, she tried to escape. We might be looking at trafficking.
Dominick Carisi : Maybe "Dollhouse" is in the database.
Odafin Tutuola : No, we can go straight to the source. I got a friend in Vice that may be able to help.
Olivia Benson : Check it out.
-
Odafin Tutuola : [finding the Dollhouse website] Whoa, whoa, blow that up.
[recognizing the victim]
Odafin Tutuola : That's Torie.
Dominick Carisi : They could have changed the ad.
Sgt. Phoebe Baker : All right, I say we do a sting. We can use my team.
Odafin Tutuola : We need to get a warrant ASAP.
Dominick Carisi : I think I know just the guy.
-
Judge Edward Kofax : Oh, Detectives, thank you for coming. So you sure these are the guys that had Torie?
Dominick Carisi : Yes, we're pretty sure, Your Honor. Sergeant Tutuola made contact via text posing as a john. It's the exact same M.O.
Odafin Tutuola : Judge Barth, Judge Kofax, I know you know Sergeant Baker from Vice, right?
Sgt. Phoebe Baker : It's nice to see you two; sorry to interrupt your evening.
Judge Elana Barth : Ah, just two colleagues grabbing an after-work cocktail, Sergeant.
Judge Edward Kofax : [signing the warrant] Do me a favor. Nail these bastards.
Sgt. Phoebe Baker : It's what we do best.
[to Fin, as they leave]
Sgt. Phoebe Baker : It reminds me of us with our "after-work drinks."
-
Sgt. Phoebe Baker : [briefing her tac team] We got a no-knock warrant on a brothel that is open for business. So, shock and awe, boys, no bullets if possible.
Odafin Tutuola : The apartment we're hitting is 4E. There's most likely muscle inside.
Sgt. Phoebe Baker : And they're definitely strapped, so keep your heads on a swivel.
Amanda Rollins : Hey. Super unlocked the back door.
Dominick Carisi : We're good to proceed?
Odafin Tutuola : Let's go ruin their night.
-
Sgt. Phoebe Baker : What the hell?
Amanda Rollins : Nobody's home.
Point ESU : We're clear, Detectives.
Dominick Carisi : What's this look like to you?
Odafin Tutuola : They knew we were coming.
-
Dominick Carisi : That was Ballistics. The gun we found next to Torie's body belonged to a heroin dealer who was killed in a drug bust.
Odafin Tutuola : Salt, meet wound.
Dominick Carisi : No, you don't get it. That gun was bagged and tagged evidence. It's supposed to be sitting at a property clerk's office right now.
Sgt. Phoebe Baker : So the only one who had access to it would have been...
Olivia Benson : Would be a cop.
-
Leon LaRue : You kidding? Two years from my pension, no way I misplaced evidence.
Dominick Carisi : Well, maybe not, but I got a ballistics report here that says a gun that was found next to a dead girl's body is the same gun that's supposedly bagged and tagged in your warehouse.
Amanda Rollins : I don't know much about physics, but I do know the same gun can't be in two places at the same time.
Leon LaRue : [looking at the report] So Ballistics screwed up, transposed serial number.
Amanda Rollins : That's what I'm thinking.
Leon LaRue : Invoice number 218-23, one Walther 9-milimeter pistol. In a box on the shelf in the back.
Amanda Rollins : Okay, so you're right, but can you humor us? We just gotta make sure.
Dominick Carisi : [LaRue goes to check] Let's hope Ballistics did make that mistake.
Amanda Rollins : For Fin's sake.
-
Dominick Carisi : I forgot how boring stakeouts are.
Odafin Tutuola : Sorry to ruin your evening.
-
Dominick Carisi : You know, maybe these cops were set up. Right? There's a lot easier ways to-to get a gun than steal it from an evidence room, you know?
Odafin Tutuola : [there's a knock on the window] What the...?
[Baker gets into the back seat]
Odafin Tutuola : Hey, maybe not so boring.
Sgt. Phoebe Baker : I trailed Fisher. He went from his place to the precinct, and he's on night shift, there is no way he's doing dirty on the clock.
Odafin Tutuola : Well, Bromland's home, so the only one left is Ramirez.
Sgt. Phoebe Baker : He's not doing anything, I'm telling you. I know Ramirez; he's a good cop.
Dominick Carisi : [spotting Ramirez] Yeah, well, maybe his lady friend doesn't want him to smoke inside.
Odafin Tutuola : [a van passes by] Hold up. Something's going down.
Dominick Carisi : [Ramirez helps the girls from the brothel out of the van] Okay, we found our dirty cop.
Sgt. Phoebe Baker : Son of a bitch.
-
Odafin Tutuola : It wasn't Baker?
Olivia Benson : She didn't ID her, but we could be looking at another female cop. Who were the officers on Anne's last arrest?
Amanda Rollins : Darla Davis and Mack O'Bannon. They're patrol officers in the 21st.
Dominick Carisi : I'll find out if there's any connection to Ramirez or Vice.
Olivia Benson : We know that Ramirez is involved, so he's our ground zero. Are you on speaking terms with Baker?
Odafin Tutuola : Not yet.
Olivia Benson : Time to apologize.
-
Sgt. Phoebe Baker : So, now you want my help, huh?
Dominick Carisi : Look, we need your help.
Sgt. Phoebe Baker : Really? And why should I trust either of you? Huh, Fin? Really, thinking that I'm dirty?
Odafin Tutuola : Phoebe, it looked bad. Because of our history, I held you to a higher standard. I should have known that's not who you are. I apologize; I'm sorry. But now we gotta go nail these bastards.
-
Odafin Tutuola : [following Ramirez] Where's he going?
Dominick Carisi : To meet his handler.
[watching Ramirez meet another man in a wide-brimmed hat]
Dominick Carisi : Who the hell is that?
Odafin Tutuola : [the handler turns around] Son of a bitch. That's Judge Kofax.
-
Olivia Benson : Guys, I've never heard even a hint of any impropriety about Judge Kofax. Are you sure?
Dominick Carisi : Yeah. Look, the last time Anne Kuzmin was arrested, she avoided jail time by enrolling in a drug treatment court. Now, the supervising judge was Edward Kofax. The same thing for Torie Meeks.
Amanda Rollins : We found four other women, all enrolled in drug court, all supervised by Judge Kofax.
Odafin Tutuola : Vice asked for warrants on over a hundred pop-up brothels in the past year. Fourteen of the raids were tipped off. On all of them, the warrants were signed by Kofax.
Dominick Carisi : Yeah, when we fed Ramirez that fake info, he went straight to him.
Olivia Benson : Well, they're both gonna deny any connection. They're just gonna claim that it was a coincidence. Look, I know that this all sounds bad, but it's all circumstantial.
Odafin Tutuola : So, what now?
Olivia Benson : If we're gonna go after a sitting judge, we can't afford to miss.
-
Judge Edward Kofax : You have no evidence against me.
Dominick Carisi : Oh, well, trust me, Kofax, we got plenty. Otherwise, you wouldn't be sitting over there.
-
Olivia Benson : Detective Carlos Ramirez, Officer Felicia Taggart, and Devon Jones are all being arraigned as we speak.
Dominick Carisi : Yeah, they all told IAB that you were the mastermind of the whole operation.
Judge Edward Kofax : That's ridiculous.
Dominick Carisi : Every detail, how you hand-picked vulnerable girls, and then you got the cops to do your dirty work.
Judge Edward Kofax : Testimony of co-conspirators. They don't know the real story.
Olivia Benson : Well, Judge Barth is cooperating, and, by the way, so is your wife.
Judge Edward Kofax : My wife doesn't know anything.
Dominick Carisi : We're gonna find the money. Kofax, it's over.
Counselor Diane Schwartz : Maybe it's time we called in the ADA.
-
Judge Edward Kofax : There is no money, I didn't take a dime. I was helping those girls.
Olivia Benson : By trafficking them? By using their addiction as a weapon?
Judge Edward Kofax : They wanted a fix. I just gave them what they wanted. I took care of them.
Olivia Benson : You took care of them?
[showing him a picture of Torie's body]
Olivia Benson : Torie Meeks, 22 years old, dead.
[showing him Anne's picture]
Olivia Benson : Anne Kuzmin, 25 years old, survived by the skin of her teeth. And four others under your care, under your protection, in your courtoom.
Judge Edward Kofax : And I protected all of them.
Olivia Benson : You protected them. How?
Judge Edward Kofax : Like they were my own daughters. Lisa White, Farrah Bashir, Britt Baker, Anya Pliskova; she was 18. They were all dead already.
Dominick Carisi : What are you talking about?
Judge Edward Kofax : Their souls were dead the minute they walked into my courtroom. Junkies, addicts, thieves stealing their own lives, their own futures from their parents, who loved them, who were helpless. I kept their daughters safe. I made sure they only had good, clean doses, no ODs, kept them alive.
Counselor Diane Schwartz : That's enough, Edward.
Judge Edward Kofax : It is not enough! It's never enough. They're dead inside. Their eyes are dead. But if they're still breathing, if their hearts were still beating, then there was a chance. If I'd given Delia that chance, maybe...
Dominick Carisi : Delia?
Judge Edward Kofax : She was 16 when she overdosed. It did not have to end that way. Her body in the ground... cold alone... my little girl.
-
Dominick Carisi : I think we got a mole, Lieutenant.
Sgt. Phoebe Baker : Yeah, I'd watch who you blame, Detective. Your squad knew about this raid, too.
Dominick Carisi : Excuse me?
Olivia Benson : How about... how about we don't jump to conclusions?
Odafin Tutuola : The operation was run through your squad, Phoebe.
Sgt. Phoebe Baker : You came to me. I mean, maybe they made you for a cop off your text. How are those UC skills working for you these days?
Amanda Rollins : Everybody calm down.
Sgt. Phoebe Baker : No, no, you know what? You calm down. Cops don't railroad other cops.
Odafin Tutuola : Up goes the blue wall of silence?
Olivia Benson : Hey, guys, stop, both of you. Listen to me. There are two possibilities. Either they knew that we were coming or they got a bad feeling and they changed things up just to be safe. But either way, we turned their door into splinters, so... so they're onto us now.
-
Sgt. Phoebe Baker : What the hell happened?
Odafin Tutuola : You tell us.
Sgt. Phoebe Baker : What? Where's Ramirez?
Dominick Carisi : Somebody tipped them off, again.
Odafin Tutuola : Where you been?
Sgt. Phoebe Baker : What? I've been getting a warrant.
Odafin Tutuola : Why didn't you answer your cell?
Sgt. Phoebe Baker : What? Wait a minute, you don't think I had something to do with this?
Odafin Tutuola : You and I need to talk, that's what I think.
Sgt. Phoebe Baker : [a little insulted] Really? Fin.
Odafin Tutuola : Right now.
-
Odafin Tutuola : Liv says Kofax took a deal. He'll do 25 years.
Dominick Carisi : His age, that's life.
Odafin Tutuola : You know, what he did, he deserves it, daughter or no daughter.
Amanda Rollins : Speaking of, I've gotta get the sitter off the clock. I think it's gonna be pizza night again at the Rollins household.
Dominick Carisi : Nothing wrong with pizza.
Amanda Rollins : Yeah? Jesse and Billie would love to see you, if you don't have other plans.
Dominick Carisi : Uh, later, I do, but first, I can come by, say hello.
Amanda Rollins : Great. You too, Fin.
Odafin Tutuola : I'm meeting somebody, but thanks.
-
Dominick Carisi : We're looking into the death of a young woman who went through your program.
Amanda Rollins : [showing him Torie's picture] Do you recognize her?
Judge Edward Kofax : Oh, my god. Torrie Meeks. Yeah, they told me she was on the road to recovery.
Dominick Carisi : So you have no idea when she relapsed?
Judge Edward Kofax : No. Her case manager might. He was just here; you can probably catch him before he leaves the building.
