Good Enough

Maybe I was expecting too much out of this one. However, I picked up a star on the road didn't deliver for me.

That said, the start was good, with some suspence vibes and thriller scenes. The characters were odd and the situations even wierder. The events that followed one another and lead to the girl actually kidnaping the male lead were entartaining and funny. However, the rest of the story just didn't fit that fresh mold that the drama promised. The plot started getting predictable.

And then, there were the characters. The leading lady was cute, but kind of annoying. The male lead was just okay, but kind of weak. The second lead, however, was the real deal and I really enjoyed him. And their overall performances were really good.

So, six and a half out of ten for this drama.

Ver unique and a bit comedic ally dark

The female lead Kim Ga Eun plays Lee Yeon Seo who works a contract job and is short of realizing her dreams. Her horrible day and revenge on a horrible boss takes a bad turn when she thinks she is hitting her boss from behind in an alley only to find out she actually hit popular male idol, Kang Joon Hyuk (Sung Hoon). He falls unconscious and she thinks she killed him. So, she decides to take him home to dispose of the body. Joon Hyuk wakes to an alarming scene and thinks he has been abducted by a psychopath. Lee Yeon See decides to keep Kang Joon Hyuk prisoner until she can leave the country.

This has been described as a dark comedy and I would definitely agree with that. I also read that some felt it was originally intended to run for more episodes (rumor has it) and thus felt rushed at the end. I don't agree with that. I felt like it wrapped up nicely. I think some may struggle to decide whether the love that develops is Stockholm syndrome or a true meeting of hearts. Some of the decisions made by Lee Yeon Seo were hard to understand because they were different than what I would have decided. I rate this a little lower than some others because there are some aspects that are a bit hard to reconcile. However if you are able to stay within the moment and just go along with the fun and unique story you will be able to get past them. Definitely worth the watch and I would bump it up on your list if you are after uniqueness or dark comedy.

Over The Top Entertainment

This show is nothing like I expected - it's shot beautifully with wonderful cinematography that gives it a high-budget feel, but the plot itself is an over the top, quirky indie type of story. The premise is so silly, but it really works because the casting is fantastic, the whole main trio of actors have incredible chemistry and are so engaging on screen together that you can't help but binge watch the show. There are top-notch cringe scenes that are usually rounded out with true humor so it never leaves a sour taste. And the writing is great, each plot line getting just the right amount of time and attention, and finishing off with a tightly written ending that leaves the viewer satisfied.

Is there definite Stockholm syndrome in this show? Absolutely, but it really works because of the writing and the cast. I enjoyed this show immensely, and while it probably should only get a 6 or 7 rating, I am giving it an 8 because it was so unexpectedly fun to watch.

This show is so quirky and weird, it has the strangest twists, turns, offbeat humour and fun in it that it was really enjoyable to watch. The eye candy is pretty good too! The only thing that bugged me is that the main girl didn't use her sporting talents when she easily could have in multiple situations, but even that is forgivable! A really fun show to watch that is comedy, drama, action, mystery.... it has it all!

This was so funny and i loved every 10ish hours of it! Think Netflix "You" but k-drama and actually funny? Like you're gonna relate/feel for the kidnapper/killer and root for them for sure and at every bad decision they make you're gonna laugh as say "GIRL now why would you do that?! You are so wild!" Very unhinged, but just my kind of ridiculous goofy humor so 10/10. I don't know what happened but I laughed!

Disappointing

It's super boring. Comedy scenes are not so very comic. I don't like this kind of romance again and again she is hitting him. Imagine it if star was female and love interest would have done that with her. It's so not acceptable specially in romantic relationship. Who we fall in love such kind of girl. Female character is so bad and selfish.

This is one of the most underrated K drama. Once you are pass episode 1 - there is no going back. It's INCREDIBLE & EXTREMELY FUNNY.

Amazing Plot & acting by all the actors. I feel bad when such great piece of work go unrecognized. This one is a total stress buster, there were so many scenes I had to replay as I was laughing so hard while watching this insanely brilliant drama.

Go for it fellas, it's WORTH IT!!!! Recommending to watch it with Friends & Family. This one is perfect for easing your mind .

Comical Non-Murder Romance Story

Just picked up by Viki 2023, called "I picked Up a Celebrity On the Street" - Silliest, comical non-murder dark, but not dark at the same time, romance show! Specifically chose this to watch since Sung Hoon was in it. Was expecting him to be in a different drama (Season 3 of Love and Divorce) and was so disappointed to see that he was replaced and then saw this suddenly appear on Viki so was glad to see that. The neighbor ML was good too, and was so naive with the kidnap victim script but the script was so unbelievable to make him so naive that only added to the humor of the show. The female lead was cute enough but did tend to get annoying at times. The reason I took off a star is because the kidnapping and confinement parts tended to go on and on too long and started to get boring after awhile until the pace changed. Loved the ending.

I picked up a celebrity on the street

I loved every second of this show. I have watched shows about crime and to do with crime before but never something quite like this. I never wanted to stop the show not even once. This show was very difference from anything else I have watched. It made me happy, sad, mad and more. They did a great job with the idea of the story, the script, the translation and the acting in the story. The makeup, hair and outfits were super well done. The setting were all good. I didn't see the big plot twist coming but it was really well done and great. I liked the plot twist a lot. I think it worked super well. There not one thing I hated about the show. Everything was good. I felt the show was well pace and the ten episodes was just enough for what need to be done. It wasn't too little of eps or too many. While I want watch the show I felt like as the saw the celebrity felling in love with the girl he had gotten Stockholm syndrome and that why he was felling in love with her. But I looked passed that and still loved the show a lot. I couldn't believe the the main celebrity of this show had a fake girlfriend for three year and she was the one planning on killing him before the main girl into end accidentally knocking him out (for a while thinking he dead and she needed to cover that up). I would recommend this show to everyone.
