Give me a break!!
sparkleakatra8 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Please stop making movies where in the drama/horror scene the victim is so stupid that they stand there, trust and let the knowingly psychotic person get near them, knock the gun (a weapon) out of their hand and wack them or kill them. And.... Nobody would smack the psycho over the head and assume that they're dead and turn their back to take the time to hug the other person two feet away while the psycho gets back up and kills them. Or not lock the door when someone just warned them that the psycho's on his way....nobody would NOT tell the other person standing next to them that the psycho was on the phone threatening them, or they were warned by someone else on the phone. Come on!! You know you can do better than that. Make it a little more realistic. Create other real circumstances. This would have been maybe a an 8-10 star if it were more realistic. It had a great story line. There are stupid, naive people in this world but not that many in the same room at the same time. This happened several times throughout the movie. They had already established that Kellen was a psycho. I know that I'm not the only one that has this opinion. Thank you ahead of time if you consider my feedback!

Wow! Intense ending 👍
Draysan-Jennings16 July 2020
Can't really say much for the beginning of this film. The first 30 minutes were fairly slow. As the story starts to unfold the movie really picks up. By the time I got to the end of the film I was on the edge of my seat. That ending was nothing less then intense. It was definitely worth the build up. Some people might not like this film, but I thought it was well done. Give it shot! 6 stars.

Finally, Something Original
Mehki_Girl25 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed this... The ending was most satisfying and redemptive.

This was original. A rare find these days.

I enjoyed the story are and mom's bitter change of heart. Good for her. It's never too late too start living.

This is a thriller, but it's also about families, what makes family, secrets, grief, redemption, and forgiveness.

The ending was perfect.

Just dumb
MagicMurderFan16 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This movie made no sense if the mother had Charlie at 15 what was she like 10 when she had Kellen? And who cast Charlie? He looks nothing like either parent? Super weird Looking kid. Looks like a mini Mark Zuckerberg and that was the quickest labor I've ever seen, even for TV. The other thing was I didn't explain what happened to Kellens private area if he was urinary incontinent and carried a catheter with him you would just pull your in bag out of your pants and disconnect it . Who wrote this and didn't think to explain it? And another reviewer was right, the leading lady needs to wash her damn face. Looks like she slept in her makeup the entire time. At least She killed him right, homegirl did it prison style.

Read the other 1 star review. That person gets it.
suigeneriszz13 September 2020
I don't even want to waste space by typing. This movie is so annoyingly terrible and terribly annoying. Read the other 1 star review. That person gets it and is funny. 😂 Something about the lead actress needing to wash her face. If you saw the movie, you'll agree.

Well done, but people need to pay attention when they watch

Warning: Spoilers
Overall a good movie with psychos and secrets. Good suspense. People really need to pay attention when they watch a movie. Regina had KELLEN at 15, not Charlie. And Kellen's privates were injured in jail when he was attacked with a blade. Re-watch before posting nonsense reviews and spoilers.

So awful. From the hard to look at "actors" to the very bad "acting"
secretstory6 September 2020
It's astonishing to see such drivel being put to motion pictures in this day and age (2019), yet here is this piece of garbage. The guy playing Kellen is probably the worst of the bunch. In and out of trying for that New Englander accent is HIGHlarious. The Regina actress comes from bad soap opera-style acting, so I knew it would be bad from the start. And I just wish the lead actress would wash her face, use a good face scrub and peel. Yikes! HD is unforgiving and everyone should know better. And poor Joel McCale, still trying to make it in movies.

Best part of this movie was the (few) shots of the great outdoors of Maine. And of course, the END.

Awful, start to finish. So bad. (zero forgiveness)

Two out of Ten, Sooo bad it was good in a cheesy way
caf-1916 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I'm guessing this was from the bottom of the barrel of Lifetime movies.

An attempt at film noir, done 21st Century style. 'Dark Harbor' is pregnant (pun intended, Lol) with lots of dysfunctional family crap: a standard issue Gen X daughter that's having an illegitimate baby but needs to drink, hates her mom, dislikes her baby-daddy, favors daddy, and generally mopes around and takes photos during her daddy's funeral, but everyone is cool with that. We're supposed to be rooting for this drip, but it was impossible, as she was totally un-likable from scene one, until she finally brutally dispenses with the villain mere minutes after she delivers what appears to be a two-month old Native American baby... :o I bet her Caucasian, New-York-Lawyer baby-daddy will have some things to say about that!

There's an overly dramatic villain that sports a dandy "ay-yep" N'Easterner accent, that is totally unfocused about what the hell he's so mad about. First, he seems to want her, then he wants money from her rich daddy, finally, he seems to want her freshly birthed baby as his own kid... (Hey, it's not the actor's faults! They didn't write the eight-storylines-in-one script, none of which made a lick of sense) Does ANYONE edit these scripts before they start filming?

Nevertheless, I was totally entertained by the villains brand of crazy. Whatever entertainment value is in this TV movie - and trust me it's on the nano particle level - came from the villain's over acting. I also got some major chuckles from the fact that not ONE of these related, dysfunctional, family members even remotely resembled each other. Kudos to the legally blind casting person.

Worth the watch!

I thoroughly enjoyed this film, i watched it a few times and you get a slightly different perspective each time. I would highly recommend for a movie night, really good quality and story line. Definitely more of a psychological thriller.

Just don't..
Stanlee10714 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This is a TV movie at its worst. The set up is that a heavily pregnant woman returns to her old family home after the sudden death of her father. Upon returning home, the estranged relationship between her and her mother plays out. A stranger comes along and makes things more complicated.

The premise had promised but like a reborn church goer it was taken away as quickly as a used promise ring... The antagonist is portrayed as soap opera villain that is so clichéd ott that one cannot help but shake his head at in disbelief. Ps why does the Charlie character look like a young Mark Zuckerberg?!

Not bad, not great
ericdhall7712 July 2021
This is basically a Lifetime psycho movie. Nothing great and nothing bad. Just a "dark" drama involving family secrets and a psycho.

Ignore the Haters! Top Shelf psychological thriller
pietrp16 September 2020
DARK HARBOR needs way more attention than it's been getting. I am a fan of well written, well paced, and well acted psychological thrillers and this film knocks it out of the park on all three counts. Sterling Hurst's performance in particular was so intense and carefully crafted that I knew from the moment he first appeared on the screen that a wild ride was ahead and he did not disappoint in execution of the role. The balance of the cast turned in exemplary performances as well. The kind of thriller, with a subtle yet intense undertone of horror, that hits the sensory points in the way all good thrillers aspire to with complete success. I immediately looked up standout Sterling Hurst in IMDb to get the titles of his work to date to find on my streaming services. I wade through a lot of films in the Thriller categories and have seen my share of duds and good efforts, this film left me wanting more.

An exquisitely executed cinematic homage to slow-burn thrillers of the past!
CathrineLellie19 September 2020
Dark Harbor builds a suspenseful tension that sustains from start to finish! The cinematography - capturing the haunting beauty of coastal Maine and the immaculate Prescott home - is so incredibly captivating that you're swept right into the story. The writer's intricately crafted mystery is interesting, well thought out, and complicated - just enough so you're on the edge of your seat, but not so much that you're left with unanswered questions.

To top off stunning visuals and solid story is phenomenal acting! This cast is INSANE - a beautiful blend of old school (Meagen Fay/Xander Berkeley) with new, undiscovered talent. The actress playing Olivia delivers a lovely, grounded performance, and the dude playing Kellen (the villain) -- my god this guy is talented, a true star in the making!!!

Dark Harbor is refreshing in the sense that it relies solely on solid storytelling - there's no CGI, or SFX here, but in that way, it feels nostalgic. In fact, Dark Harbor reminded me a lot of the film FEAR, both in setting and tone. FEAR (Wahlberg/Witherspoon) is a dramatic thriller that I could watch multiple times, and I find that to be the same with this film.

Definitely Dark
bearspats13 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Right from the start, the movie leads you without much guess work needed. Family secrets start to unravel, drawing you in. Somewhat predictable, with just enough surprise. And a little bit of creepiness... Still not clear about the relationship between Kellen and Regina. If she was 15 when she had Charlie, how old was she when she had Kellen? I must have missed something... Overall a pretty good movie.

Good movie
logancollier-5728521 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The movie is fun to watch because of the actors and the setting. It is far fetched but so are the vast majority of movies! I love the twist at the end. The best part is the Alan Rickman Norman Reedus kiss and that alone would be worth watching a dumb movie for, but it wasn't a dumb movie. It may be slow for some people, but it was well acted and relatively well written.
