Starts well but ends disappointing
santoshambekar192 June 2019
Hostages is the new Hindi series by hotstar specials. The starcast, I must say, is really good. The story starts very well in the beginning and as it moves through couple of episodes makes you stick to it. But when it just goes further ahead and starts unveiling the background, it starts fading away. The end is just abrupt and doesn't make any sense.

Sasti copy of money heist. Season 2 is blunder. The strong acting of Ronit Roy could not save the series.

I dont get why profanity is that important to prove you are angry in a particular scene. It can be avoided. If you want more viewers watching a show without having to feel ashamed that new content nowadays Is nothing but C****, Benc***, and madhar***. Again i just dont get it. Just a heads up for season 3 and on if its in the talks.

Another Remake from Hotstar
abhishek-9040531 May 2019
This series is also a remake just like the other series on Hotstar. The series is remake of Israeli series which goes by the same name. IDK what they think before producing such shows as they are just remakes and spoils the originals. Stop remaking and bring something new and fresh.

Too slow.
kuberakalyan10 September 2020
Although the plot is entertaining, the flow is too slow and as usual contains some of the extra mirch masala of Bollywood.

Great story but Incomplete
kaivangala15 June 2019
Great storyline but it seemed incomplete. The individual moments never connected with each other and I felt the execution could have been made better. Apart from that, great acting by Tisca Chopra. One time watch.

Went good, but got lost
palexpalash24 May 2022
I have watched both seasons, and I have to say, S1 was THRILLING! Having an innocent mother pushed into a do or die puzzle. But the show lost focus in S2. It had a bad storyline in front of S1.

Must watch
shreyakundu12 June 2019
I don't know why everyone is saying that the series was predictable. It is not so. If you have not watched the Israeli hostages then you will definitely love this series.

Season 1 was much better than Season 2.
pradeepism22 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Agreed that the entire series in not great by any means, but season 1 was far better than 2. No matter how many flaws S01 had of its own, it kept me hooked to the screen bcoz eventually Mira was the only hostage who was allowed to leave the house bcoz she's a doctor and she's been chosen by Prithvi for the job. Season 1 could've actually ended by killing the CM in the last episode thereby wrapping up the entire series. But nope they came up with S02. The people who were supposed to leave for Nepal, take shelter in an old dilapidated house and the hostage scenario for the entire season is set up. It felt dragging at several times, though actors like Ronit Roy, Kanwaljit Singh, Divya Dutta and (to some extent) Sachin Khurana, did their best, the plot didn't support their efforts at all. Characters of Shibani Dandekar & Dino Morea felt really useless (though it was good to see Dino back on screen) as the reasoning of their union as well as whatever those GI & LC was, it felt really stupid. A good actress like Shilpa Shukla was also wasted (she appeared in 2-3 episodes only I guess). S02 had more flaws than S01 and it's only the acting of Ronit Roy which makes the S02 watchable. I hope they do not come back with a S03 even if they're thinking or if a S03 exists of the original Israeli series, this series should end with the death of Ronit Roy's character.

It goes nowehere
rajeev-vasani6 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It seems the writer completely lost the way with this one. The attempted twist ending is ludicrous. In fact, I could guess it half way into the last episode but I told myself that the writer would surely have done better than that. But he did not.

In the last 15 minutes, the Chief Minister of a state in India got sedated on the operation table with a drug that cannot show up in autopsy. Then he got declared as dead when he was not, by a huge team of doctors. Then his body was exchanged with that of a random person and he was transported out the hospital. And then he was taken to a house where a whole bone marrow transplant procedure was supposed to take place.

Nobody in CM's family asked for the dead body. The chief minister died in a normal surgery procedure and there was no inquiry. There were no fans, followers, party men gathered to see his dead body. A simple morgue incharge took his body from the hospital through the back exit. As simple as that.

The whole story is filled with loopholes. The kid who is held hostage has a phone but he doesn't use it to call the police. Instead he video chats with his girlfriends. The principal of a school and the owner of a standalone duplex bungalow with swimming pool doesnt have money to pay his EMI. Random characters and side stories, having no relation to the main narrrative are thrown in for no reason. A senior doctor having an affair with a young nurse in the hospital, the kid hacking exam papers for her girlfriend, the daughter's pregnancy and his army boyfriend, - all useless side stories with no real contribution.

The Indian audience deserves much more intelligent thrillers than this one.

The Amazing Cast
nehalgoenka1 June 2019
The cast has done a fabulous job in the whole series. Specially Tisca Chopra's acting has been worth praising. The story though, is highly predictable which makes it quite boring since you can predict what's going to happen next. Nevertheless, it's a good series to watch for timepass.

Disappointing
rajatcshetty3 June 2019
The story is good...the direction could have been better...poor screenplay and unbaked towards end. The star cast was good. Ronit Roy was excellent, good performance by Tisca Chopra. The premises is compelling. The show intrigues but can't hold captive throughout.

Season 2 seems like written by Ekta Kapoor writers
saurabhjayswal12 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Season 2 is plain right stupid. I mean where do you find such stupid characters in real world. Bringing a CM in open without his face covered, when that CM is supposedly dead and heck, he is a Chief Minister, ever tom dick nd harry knows his face but you are not bothered to hide it? So much care for your wife? Moreover, in the car, you leave him unattended, not even hands and feet are tied, not even thought of putting a child lock on doors? I mean how more stupid can you go from here. Damn sure everyone involved in making is just high on weed, be it actors or ditector or writer or producers. What a waste of time.

SEASON 2 REVIEW: The show is binge-worthy, it has an engaging plot with some stellar performances. Despite the slow screenplay, the show manages to keep the viewers hooked. Ronit Roy once again perfectly delivered an impressive performance and done full justice to his character. Divya Dutta steals the show and done a commendable job.

Shweta Basu Prasad is a surprise package. In her limited screen time, she has given an impactful performance. Amit Sial, Mohan Kapur, Dalip Tahil, Faezeh Jalali, and Kanwaljit Singh lend effective support to the show. Dino Morea, Shibani Dandekar, Aashim Gulati and all the other supporting casts were average in their parts.

The series could have been cut down to 10 episodes, the more crisp editing could've made this series more interesting. The background score is good and the cinematography is done quite well.

Extremely underrated
abhinavsays4228 November 2019
Extremely underrated. It may not match the absolute brilliance of breaking bad or the grandiosity of sacred games, but as an original story I found it intelligent and entertaining without being overly dramatic. The script does not leave loose ends and the characters are believable (i'm looking at you, sacred games). The editing is generally crisp although the few episodes in mid-season do feel dragged. But it more than makes up for it with a startling (yet not outlandish) end to the season that strikes a balance between neat closure and curiosity for next season. Series is well supported by top notch acting by the entire cast. Wish people appreciated this kind of storytelling more than a Mirzapur, which was really nothing more than gore and forced violence masquerading as entertainment without reason or logic, or a scared games, which starts off with much promise but degenerates into meaningless subplots that leaves too many loose ends and ultimately makes a mockery of the viewer's intelligence (and patience)

Hostages Indian Web Series reviewed by Naimur

#Hostages #Hindi #HindiTVSeries #India #RonitBoseRoy #TiscaChopra #SudhirMishra #DalipTahil

My Personal rating is 7⭐ out of 10⭐

Plot: One evening some unknown masked person broke into the house of renowned Doctor & Professor. They made all the four members of the family hostages and instructed them to give/do something to/for them.

What did they want? Why did they choose the family? Who was/were behind all this?

You have to see this film to know about these answers.

POOR SCREENPLAY!!
anubhavgoyal-392841 June 2019
If actors like Ronit Roy and Tisca Chopra are working for a project you have high hopes with it. Hostages wasn't able to do the justice when it comes to it's screenplay and direction. The basic plot of the show is really good but the execution of the same is really pathetic. All the episodes went with the same pace with the same thing was happening over and over again. Certain turning points were there but most of them were predictable because of the poor screenplay. Ronit Roy and Tisca Chopra were on point with their acting skills but this show proves to be a sheer waste of talent. If anyone doesn't have anything to do or to watch go for Hostages.

Utter Kooda Kachda Web Series
ravish96 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This webseries is an utter waste of talented actors, terribly lacks on plots, logics and almost everything. It could be counted among the worst screenplay and directions ever done for any Indian webseries. Sudhir Mishra...an overhyped director's weaknesses become very crystal clear. I had never believed in this director and always considered him overhyped. But here he is wide open with his poor lack of depth.

The plot is extermely week. A doctor family is made hostage to operate on CM and get him killed. This entire misison is being funded by some businessman in Gurgaon...who has a joker like presence of just 2 minutes scene with dialogue that Brahman ko bhojan ke beech me nahi tokte! Absurd! And in this entire mission, what is the logic to kill the CM ...only God knows. To kill CM, a dry honest police officer is hired, who is doing it for money for bone marrow transplant of his wife. And this man further hires some lampoons who r enough good to spoil any misison..yet he hires them....end of the story the police officer's wife is found as an illegitimate child of a rpist CM who finds himself lying nearby his illegitimate daughter and when he wants to get up, Ronit Roy says "lete rahiye..apko to waese narak me hona chahiye tha lekin abhi aap apni beti ke bagal me hain"!.....Show is over! Jitni galiyan padho sudhir Mishra aur screenwriter ko uitna kum. SUdhir Mishra has no clue how to stitch stories with scenes. Every scene is scattered, and overtly dragged. There is hardly any good thing to tell about this movie.

Had the same money been given to TVF, they would have made a far superior show from it.
