You like animes with tons of fighting scenes, a few silly dialogues and well animated violent content? Lean back and enjoy, you don't regret even one second. Can't wait to watch 3rd season.

I was a bit unsure with first episode, I'm glad I watch 2nd episode and gave it a chance because it's brilliant. Excellent story, animation, characters and fights and I found it quite funny in parts. Recommend to anyone who enjoys Japanese manga.

Best anime for me this year

At first I wasn't sure that going 3D would be the right choice. But now after watching both the seasons, I think 3D animations during fights scenes are used perfectly. The movements of the characters seem fluid and impactful. Can't wait for the rest of the tournament.
Love the music, fights and overall story

Street fighter without any controller
FrenchEddieFelson5 August 2019
This anime looks basically like Street Fighter on Playstation. Put your controller aside and passively enjoy Homeric combats secretly organized by the CEO of huge Japanese companies. The atmosphere is fascinating and the fast-moving pace of this anime will incite you to see the episodes of the whole season, all in one piece. 6/7 of 10.
Great surprise

Mixed feelings at the end of episode 5

It's not a bad start to a series, but the art style feels a little off in places.
The subtitle translations aren't even close to the audible English translation. The subs seem a bit harsher than the audio, so I'm thinking they're more in line with the actual intended audio.
It reminds me a bit of Streef Fighter 2 the animated one from 1994, in a good way.
The bad, the episodes aren't very well moved in terms of plot and back story.
The plot is really basic, which can work if done well, but every episode so far runs like bullet points, checking off required info boxes and delivering almost everything in obvious info dumps, which for myself, it just doesn't feel like a story, it feels like a a wikipedia entry.
Going to watch a few more episodes, I'm enjoying it enough for that, and decide if it gets better with the story portion.

Everyone is wrong

I don't get how everyone is raving over this title, it's not good.
Season 1 is cool so I'm speaking strictly about season 2. The entire season consists of full-episode fights between characters we barely know and don't care about. To make things worse, these fights are interlaced with dull flashbacks and background information the viewer doesn't need AT ALL. I can only listen to inconsequential characters explain just how they became so strong so many times. It isn't until the last two episodes of the season that we even see Ohma (the main character) fight.
Remember 'The Fly' episode of Breaking Bad where you were like, 'What the heck is this? I am even watching the show anymore? Get back to the story.' Thats what it's like watching all of Kengan Ashura season 2.

Kengan Ashura,
When I started watching this I just finished Baki (also a netflix production). what came as a big suprise to me is that the paste of this anime is more in tradition of a US or European made production. fast action with a good solid story behind it. interesting characters and the episodes are bite size.
perfectly to watch on the way or bench watch it when comfortible at home.
if you are a fan of anime and fast paste action this is the anime to start with.

At first i was not sure about how they design this anime it was neither 2D nor 3D but it was kind of 2.5D (mix of 2D + 3D) however story and fights are just epic.
Only a piece of crap (who never watched a decent anime) can rate it low.

Good fighting action

The Characters and their abilities are portraied in a totally new kind of style. Its a mix between dragon ball z, street fighter and fist of the north star. I think if the fights would be more realistic and the fighting styles would be entirely real ones this would even be a whole lot better. Too much fantasy....

Decent fights
ashton-altham4 August 2019
If you've watched Baki, it's pretty similar. The
Negatives - There's breaks between fights to explain so made up technique that usually doesn't make sense. There's a character who basically gawks and is shocked in every scene, which can get annoying. They throw big numbers around to try and make the characters companies seem important. Sometimes they explain things that you can clearly already see with you own eyes.
The pros - Decent choreography in the fights and there seems to be less talking between matches than Baki. Interesting characters once you get past how corny it can be.

3D models are on point
michael-kordus11 November 2019
Binge watched both seasons. Screw what the haters say, this being a 3D based animation. Quite frankly, I loved the animation. The fights were great and the 3D character models are straight fire. 2D animation is interspersed here and there, but the important matches get the full 3D treatment. I honestly haven't watched something this entertaining in quite sometime, here's to season 3!
Best anime I've ever seen

This is by far the best anime I've ever seen. The animation is just amazing and the plot is great. I can't wait for season 2 to come out. I literally watched the 1st season in 2 nights, I was hooked after the first episode. Please Netflix let there be many many seasons more. Love it.
A promising and enjoyable new comer

Short Version:
Despite the animation style giving me "Berserk 2016-17" PTSD flashbacks, it grew on me. It has a relatively simple story line, interesting characters and rather curious setting.
Long Version: What sticks out the most about this is mainly the characters and the setting. There are various groups partaking into the Kengan tournament, with different backgrounds and goals. The chemistry between the characters and some evolving relationships seems promising. The fights do bring a lot of real life techniques into action, but they don't skip on BS power ups either grounding them in a logical basis most of the time. What would really make this even more interesting, is having tense situations arise outside of the tournament as well (at least, more often). The only tiring thing for me was that damn female presenter screaming her lungs out every time a fighter shows up on stage. She speaks way longer than she has to, especially when re-presenting a character that has already fought once.
THE QUESTION: "SHOULD I WATCH KENGAN ASHURA OR BAKI?" Honestly, just do both. Baki seems more light hearted since almost all battles seem to be fought between friends or "co-workers" and there are never high stakes to influence the nature of the fights.
