And while Netflix’s anime roster is certainly diverse, it seems that the streaming service is definitely focusing on fighting series. We know that Baki is one of the platform’s most important hits, and there are also the likes of Kengan Ashura and Record of Ragnarok, both of which are focused on fighting. Now, as it has been confirmed today, another martial arts anime series is coming to the streaming service, as an anime adaptation of the Garōden novel series by Baku Yumemakura is going to premiere on May 23, 2024.
This news was confirmed by Netflix today, along with the release of a trailer and some production information. It has also been confirmed that the anime adaptation is going to be titled Garouden: The Way of the Lone Wolf.

The Baki series is one of the best-known and most popular martial arts manga and anime series of all time, right next to Hajime no Ippo and Kengan Ashura (we’re not counting Dragon Ball since it has a fantasy element to it). While not everyone likes the style of Baki, the series is popular, and, in fact, the series has been ongoing since 1991, with six different titles as of the time of writing. The current manga story, Baki Rahen, has been published since 2023.
Many of the series’ titles have been adapted into anime format, including the ever-so-popular Baki Hanma series, but we have recently received confirmation that the fourth title in the series, Baki-Dou, will also receive an anime adaptation in the future, adding to the collection.
Baki-Dou has a total of 22 volumes, and while information on the adaptation is scarce, a Pv teaser has been released, so you...

Fighting is one of the purest life instincts, one that has been embedded deep inside creatures as a means for survival. There are a myriad ways to approach fight-oriented storytelling, and by now, the manga scene has adopted almost every one of them. While there are more over-the-top, more popular ones like Dragon Ball, Baki, and Kenichi, which have gathered a mass fan following, the more grounded ones like Shamo and Meguru have left their mark in the minds of dedicated manga readers. Kengan Ashura, the manga series created by Yabako Sandrovich and Daromeon, falls in between these two categories, and what makes it unique is the way multiple characters are given equal importance in the cumulative growth of the narrative.
It almost seems after monopolizing Kaiju-oriented anime, Netflix has targeted fighting-based ones, as no sooner than Baki completed its second season, Kengan Ashura returned to the streaming platform after a four-year hiatus.

Baki Hanma Season 2 Part 2 Ending Explained: “Baki Hanma” Season 2 Part 2 is the continuation of the second season. This part of the show, consisting of 14 episodes, focuses on the intense final battle between two central characters: Baki and his father, Yujiro Hanma, also called The Ogre. Yujiro is famous as the world’s strongest being.
The anime medium often employs the technique of prolonging battles, and this series adeptly employs that tactic.
Nonetheless, it’s worth noting that the monumental confrontation doesn’t unfold immediately in the 14th episode.
Instead, the series dedicates ample time to meticulously construct the foundation for the inevitable clash between father and son.
Across various renditions of ‘Baki the Grappler,’ this iconic duel among the Hanma generations stands as the pinnacle, creating a sense of anticipation even for those unfamiliar with the original manga.
When the momentous showdown finally arrives, it delivers an epic spectacle of unrelenting action.
