Patina only blinks twice in the film. He blinks to answer "yes" and both were written in the script at those exact moments.
Patina was shot in one 12 hour day.
The metal sounds Patina makes when he moves were created by director Alan Maxson. He recorded weights, a toaster and other metal items to get the right vibe he was looking for. To create the rusty scraping sound, he moved weights slowly on the inside of his kitchen oven.
