Art for life
BandSAboutMovies23 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Nathan Ives directed a movie entitled The Basement that we reviewed awhile back. Now, he's back with a documentary on artists that you may not know, but who have made a living from their gifts.

Somewhere in the Middle is about five very different people - musicians Aaron and Griffin, actress Jasika, sculptor Jeff and a painter named Dan. The film explains how the struggle for them to make art their life has prepared them for a more successful life.

Beyond making money for what they do, they're all had amazing experiences, like getting to jam with Bruce Springsteen ore ballroom dance with Antonio Banderas.

Yet money is important, as is trying to make your art into a business. This is something that I can understand, as it's a struggle for me. These five artists share some advice and wisdom about a life that may not be for everyone.

Really interesting look at modern day artists
prberg230 October 2019
This is a really interesting look at artists and the challenges they face making a living and creating their art. Some new perspectives that I never thought of before and makes me think of art in a whole new way.

Really enjoyed it!

A Must Watch For Any Aspiring Artist
brianconley-712358 November 2019
Anyone thinking about embarking on a career as an artist should watch this film. The stories are both a celebration of the pursuit of a life in the arts and a cautionary tale, and there is a good deal to be gleaned from them. For every artist who hits it big, there are 10,000 who abandon the pursuit and 1,000 who land "somewhere in the middle."
