Finding Wolfe
lavatch23 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
In this sixth episode, the action shifts to Moldova where the bilingual Em goes undercover with the name of Miss Vanek accompanied by her "security" in the form of Cal Isaac. Their mission: to find Rex Wolfe.

From the perspective of the FBI, a decision has been made to "go dark" on the story of Wolfe and float the lie that Mills was murdered by Nick when trying to escape. Nick hates to lie about the incident in which he was actually at fault in letting Wolfe get the drop on him. Now, Crown's mistress, the journalist Erica Lyle, is to have a "sit down" interview with Nick, which he dreads.

Alice learns that she may be incapable of children. The child psychiatrist suggests that she needs "passion" in her life. She confesses to the shrink that she feels her marriage is falling apart.

Nick and Em have discovered the elite security network called Nightwatch, of which Wolfe is almost certainly a member. The Tydeus Corporation previously linked to Wolfe merged with Nightwatch, which is now a well-capitalized PMC (Power Management Controller). Em kickboxes with "Jacques," a vicious Nightwatch cutthroat, and cuts out the chip implanted in him. The chip allows Em and Cal to have access to the computers of Nightwatch, where they discover that Wolfe is within 30 kilometers of them.

But before they can track Wolfe down, Em and Cal are held hostage by the ruthless Jacques. Em does "bluprinting" on the weapons carried by the Nightwatch security people. She and Cal then make a daring escape through the underground water system. A horrified Em must once again confront water. After their escape, Em and Cal find dry clothes, but they are surprised and taken into captivity once again. Wow!

Really guys - really?

Ah, guys, what were ye doing - shockingly bad writing. There's just no depth & often tired, almost generic tropes/lines are used to supplement a lack of basic creativity. S1 was decent and it did a really good job of tension building & whilst it was far from polished it was still gripping enough to hold the viewer. The best I can say about this season is the opening segments up to the title & in particular, that frame, is very well done but this episode... pants!
