Does not really make the audience happy they watch this

Warning: Spoilers
The title "54th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards" here is pretty telling as just like other awards shows honor mostly more general subjects like music or films, this one is fairly specific and the focus is exclusively on country music. This is the 2019 edition that aired in early April, so it's been less than four months now, pretty current still. Even if the show runs for comfortably over 2 hours, probably 3 with commercials, I find it a bit surprising how many writers and directors actually contributed on this one, especially because the winners' announcements, announcers' words and acceptance speeches do not fall into this category. At least I hope so. Anyway, overall I thought it was a rather weak awards show that struggled with the usual problems. One would be that there was definitely too much music and too many live performances, but that is a problem of really many awards shows I guess. It is also pretty strange why they do it because for the people there in the arena it may not even be nice as they can impossibly be fans of all the artists here, so it is not worth it for 2 or 3 numbers they like Anyway, this one here is not the exception that confirms the rule as say here in Germany. I could have done without half an hour or so I suppose. Maybe it is just me because honestly there weren't too many performances that impressed me here. I linda like country more in the traditional sense than how it is put on display here. The very first song was maybe still the best and it surprised me and made me curious because I liked it quite a bit. But that was music-wise probably already the highlight of the night. It went south quickly when the host (16th time or so) showed up and she really did either have good material nor good comedic presence and it was pretty cringeworthy how she was repeatedly praising herself and her legendary statues. We are gettin it it is alright. Another thing I found pretty strange is that what maybe should have been the biggest award of the night was handed over immediately afterwards, very early indeed. But yeah you know that from other awards ceremonies that frequently the order which award is given when also has a lot to do with the winner's star potential. I am mostly talking about Kids and People's Choice Awards here. But I guess Country Music Awards also fall into that category. Keith Urban is a huge star and probably even bigger when he has his wife sit next to him. Okay let me think what else can I say here. It is a bit difficult because admittedly I was not very familiar with most of the winner sother than these who also made waves on bigger awards shows like Kacey Musgroves. One thing I liked, even if I criticized the quantity of on-stage performances, was how many duets they had also between singers from very different generations. That was nice. Admittedly the music really wasn't that bad, but also never good enough to really convince me to admit it was my loss I hardly knew any of the performers. I don't think it was. So yeah overall I would really say that you should only wath this one if you are extremely interested in country music, even better in the current generation from the genre, so you may ignore the overall boredom of the show (of course I did not expect a spectacle as it could have been at some metal awards show if there was one), but I still thought it could be more exciting and less bland than it eventually turned out. Pity. Even if you love awards shows and music as much as I do, then this is probably not enough by any means. Skip it I say. Hopefully the 2020 edition and all that follows afterwards will be better.

Keep shunning Sturgill Simpson, I'll keep shunning your show

There are plenty of good country musicians out there. For some reason you refuse to put them on your awards show, even going as far as shunning Sturgill Simpson. It backfired on you in 2017 when he stole the show and a lot of your patrons outside the arena the awards were being held. Even Chris Stapleton left the show to join his fellow troubadour. 2018 you shunned him again and I stood by Sturgill again. I will continue to ban this show until you invite Sturgill and give him the respect he deserves. "Hegemony and fascism is alive and well in Nashville, Tennessee."
