Many of the episode titles are a play on the titles of books or movies or songs. This one is no exception: The Kids Are Alright is a play on the Offspring song The Kids Aren't Alright.
The Kids Are Alright is also the name of a song by The Who from the 1965 album "My Generation".
Johnny cautions D'avin and Dutch to not drink the Kool-Aid. In 1978 the Jim Jones cult "The People's Temple" had over 900 people ( mostly from California) in its South American enclave. Rather than face US Federal prosecution on abuse charges, Jones forced everyone, at gun point, to drink cyanide laced grape Flavor-Aid. Since then "drinking the Cool-Aid" has meant blindly accepting something patently absurd.
