The long-running reality competition series has announced that Season 4 champ and renowned fashion designer Siriano will return to the show as mentor, while Elle editor-in-chief Garcia continues on the judges' panel, where she has served since the very beginning of the series in 2004. In addition, the show is introducing celebrity stylist extraordinaire Roach to the show. He previously appeared as a guest judge in Season 20 and will now be on the panel full-time. Freeform is bringing Project Runway back for its 21st season in 2025, and the show’s original star, Heidi Klum, is set to return to host alongside other famous names from the original series. She and cohost Tim Gunn left Project Runway in 2018 and launched a new fashion competition reality program, Prime Video‘s Making the Cut, in 2020. Gunn will not be back for the revival. The hit fashion reality competition show will return this summer with a new host and judges. HBO has decided against a second season greenlight for The Franchise, its original superhero movie satire from creator/executive producer Jon Brown and executive producers Sam Mendes and Armando Iannucci. It was originally reported by Gold Derby’s sister site Deadline. “We’re so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with the tremendously talented team behind The Franchise, especially Sam Mendes, Jon Brown, Armando Iannucci, and this hilarious ensemble of actors,” an HBO spokesperson said in a statement to Deadline. “While we won’t be moving forward with another season, we look forward to collaborating with all of them in the future.”

Heidi Klum is returning to “Project Runway” after exiting the fashion competition series in 2018.

The news comes after the October announcement that the series had been renewed for a 21st season while moving to Disney’s Freeform after most recently airing on Bravo. Season 21 will debut later this year and run for 10 episodes, which will stream on Disney+ and Hulu after their Freeform airings.

Klum previously hosted “Project Runway” for 16 seasons, beginning with the series’ 2004 debut on Bravo. She remained with the show when it moved to Lifetime in 2009, where it aired for 11 more seasons, then departed alongside Tim Gunn, who mentored designers on the show, when it moved back to Bravo for Season 17. Karlie Kloss and Christian Siriano stepped in as “Project Runway” host and mentor, respectively, for the next two seasons, with Siriano filling both roles for Seasons 19 and 20.

It’s unknown in what capacity Klum will return to the series, having served as host of “Project Runway” for its first first 16 seasons, as well as if Gunn, who served as mentor during those 16 seasons alongside Klum, will return as well.

Klum and Gunn departed “Project Runway” to helm Prime Video fashion competition series, “Making the Cut,” which aired its third season in fall 2022. Following their exit, model Karlie Kloss and Season 4 winner Christian Siriano took the reins as host and mentor, respectively, though Siriano served as both host and mentor during the past two seasons when Kloss took a step back as well.

This year’s Critics Choice Real TV Awards honored shows “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars,” “Top Chef,” and “Taste the Nation with Padma Lakshmi,” with each series taking home two awards.

All three shows won in the Best Show Host category, as RuPaul tied with Padma Lakshmi for both “Taste the Nation” and “Top Chef.” “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” took home the award for best ensemble cast in an unscripted series, while “Taste the Nation with Padma Lakshmi” was awarded best structured series and “Top Chef” won best culinary show.

The annual event continues to recognize excellence in nonfiction, unscripted and reality programming across broadcast, cable and streaming platforms.

Lisa Vanderpump was honored with the Impact Award this year and Eugene Levy won Star of the Year. Additionally, Bravo and Netflix were the biggest winners of awards, topping four categories each.

A special program showcasing the winners will premiere on Ktla+ and Ktla.

Welcome to Wrexham with Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney scored the Best Sports Show award and The Amazing Race came in first in the Best Competition Series category at the 2023 Critics Choice Real TV Awards. Critics Choice Association members spread the love around, with only RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, Taste the Nation with Padma Lakshmi, and Top Chef earning two awards each.

Given the quantity and quality of reality programming, the Cca launched the Critics Choice Real TV Awards in 2019 to recognize the best in nonfiction, unscripted, and reality shows. In addition to the regular competition categories, this year the Cca honored Lisa Vanderpump with the Impact Award and Eugene Levy was named Star of the Year.

The Critics Choice Association revealed the winners of the fifth annual Critics Choice Real TV Awards, which recognize excellence in nonfiction, unscripted and reality programming.

RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, Taste the Nation With Padma Lakshmi and Top Chef tied with two awards each. Drag Race won the award for best ensemble cast in an unscripted series, Taste the Nation won best structured series, and Top Chef won best culinary show. RuPaul and Lakshmi tied in the best show host category, which went to the three aforementioned shows. (The most recent season of Top Chef, which concluded June 8, is Lakshmi’s last after she announced she would not be returning as host ahead of the finale.)

Additionally, Lisa Vanderpump was honored with the Impact Award, while Eugene Levy — who hosts Apple TV+’s The Reluctant Traveler with Eugene Levy, which won best travel/adventure show — won Star of the Year.

Exclusive: There’s more movement in Amazon’s programming team with unscripted exec Chris Castallo moving to the streamer’s scripted division.

Castallo joined the company in 2018 as Head of Unscripted Television for Amazon Studios, focused on non-scripted series for Amazon Prime Video. However, a restructure last year, saw him oversee alternative programming across both Prime Video and its free streaming service Freevee, reporting to Lauren Anderson, Head of AVOD Originals, Unscripted, and Targeted Programming for Amazon Studios.

He will now move into the scripted team. No immediate word on whether he will be directly replaced in the unscripted team.

Anderson, whose team has had a breakout hit with James Marsden prank improv comedy Jury Duty, will continue to oversee unscripted. Her team also includes senior unscripted creative executive Jenny Falkoff.
