Dumb

Warning: Spoilers
About two very thick people who choose to not try and escape and instead wait to freeze or starve to death. Throw in some annoying baby crying and it's the perfect film to wind you up .

Super frustrating to watch
lindseyebranch2 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I literally could not sleep the night I watched this because I was so pissed at the couple for being sooo stupid. I didn't care if they died, just was worried about the baby. The acting is subpar, the guy's character was an idiot that was obviously a loser. He had a temper, lost his job, and you can tell he didn't have any masculinity. But just like so many people on this thread mentioned, WHY WOULDN'T YOU TRY TO DIG YOURSELF OUT!?? He kept saying "there is nothing out there for us", how would he even know that??? I would not be in there for more than 48 hours, TOPS. There was so much more they could have been done. And when she finally got through to her dad, why would she just cry to "daddy" the entire time and not tell him where you are, I would be pissed at her too. I would have fought to get out before I just let myself and my baby die. The sunroof was exposed still after the storm, they could have easily "back-head-rested"it open. You could see light so you would have to know you were not too deep down. Even if they broke the side window they could have covered it up when they wanted to rest or sleep. I have heard people being fully stuck under snow and have put out something bright from the window so they could be spotted. Also...They had so much paper and other burnable items....and fire! Why wouldn't you even try to make a smoke cloud right outside the window? Maybe use the fire, not the stupid candles, to melt around you, either to get out or even get water. I am getting furious even writing this and I hope to God this isn't a "real" true story because if it is they should have never let people see how stupid this couple was. Survival of the fittest I guess.

No, no!

Sorry, but this is kind of nonsense. You can also come up with a movie where people could not leave the toilet. With doors and windows.

Two numbskulls try to figure their way out of two feet of snow
murkyanchor12 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This is literally one of the worst movies I've seen in years. I just have so many questions:

Why is it so hard just to dig your way out of two feet of snow? (sunlight was clearly visible through the snow the entire time).

Why would you travel internationally (including long road-trips in winter conditions) when you are practically in your 40th week of pregnancy?

Why would you spend 90% of the remaining battery charge on your phone sobbing into it nonsensically instead of providing the crucial information needed for your rescue? In addition: why on earth would you decide to phone your father on the other side of the planet instead of Norwegian emergency services??

Why was she surprised that, after hogging every last morsel of food for herself for days, her husband finally keeled over from starvation and exposure (because she had also impulsively smashed a window while he was sleeping). Did she expect him to subsist on the smell of her farts alone?

Why did the director think that the audience would enjoy listening to a newborn baby wailing at the top of its lungs for half an hour straight?

How on earth did these two brainlets make it so far into adulthood without drowning in a pool of their own excrement?

In conclusion, watch this movie if you're the kind of person who enjoys watching two idiots bickering and blaming each other over every petty little thing and behaving in the most illogical and idiotic way possible.

Scariest part is that people this stupid bred another person
kdycer3 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Who seriously funded this film?! Biggest pile of tripe I've seen in a long time. Completely unrealistic (it's supposed to be based on a true story, but I have my doubts on this) thoroughly unlikable characters, annoying and whiny. It's impossible to root for people this dumb. The guy has no back bone, yeah lets just sit in our frozen tomb of a car and wait to die?! I mean wtf?! You would smash the hell out of a window and get out. You can hear snow ploughs for gods sake so obviously you're not that far from civilisation. If my husband was this pathetic I would have killed him with an ice pick. Then the baby comes along, and they still don't try and get out. I mean it's beyond stupid. Don't waste your time.

It's Terrible When You Root for the Blizzard
LiviusAndronicus4 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
We fast-forwarded through most of this disappointing film.

Gave it the lowest possible score (1 star) for existing... and a bonus star for the baby who portrayed a baby quite well... and didn't ask to be in the movie.

These people deserve to die.
greig-2101428 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
There's literally 6 inches of snow in the car and plows drive by clearing the road but they won't break a window to get out. They could literally walk down the road and get rescued by a passing car within an hour but they chose to sit inside the vehicle for weeks. Nature got it right trying to kill off these two.

This is the lamest survival movie I have watched.
flashfluidimdb30 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The whole idea that you could get snowed in in your car and not even try to break a window to dig you free is...ridiculous. Consider that they could hear vehicles passing by and they could get a cellphone connection (which appropriately got cut due to a dead battery). What sense does this make?

Add to this the insipid dialogue, lack of any interesting plot revelation, and that the woman even gives birth in the car. They spend 15+ days in the car eating snow. Were they waiting for the movie to end? I was. In the meantime I just sent emails and read the news while watching inattentively for the movie in the background.

Don't waste your time watching this movie
kimro_herrera30 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This movie was an absolute piece of crap. This is an American couple traveling through Norway, in the winter, for a book tour. The wife is 8 months pregnant. Can someone please tell me how she was allowed to fly on a plane? The couple pulls over during a snowstorm to sleep. Why on earth would you pull over in a snowstorm? In one of the countries known for hellacious winters? The couple constantly fight. It was the longest, most excruciating 90 minutes I've spent watching a movie in a long time. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!!

Nightmare Situation Made Worse By Antisocial Adults
solomonmethod25 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I am a proud single father. My most fondest memories are of when my daughter was first born. So when the baby in the movie was crying incessantly from the cold and the hunger it made me genuinely sick to my stomache.

The situation the couple faced in the movie would've had pros and cons no matter what choice they made. They were 50 miles from their hotel, trapped in their car by a snowstorm up in a mountain range out in the middle of nowhere, and no idea how far away the next nearest human being might be. Sub-zero temperatures with whipping winds, and for all you know there might be wolves living out in that climate. Do you stay in the car and survive, or dig your way out and risk dying?

The couple made things worse by not discussing their options and coming up with a possible solution together. Insead they yelled at each other and shifted blame. I think it's safe to say that their relationship would've eventually come to an end even under the best of circumstances.

Most viewers of this movie gave it a negative review. Many of those people appear to have picked apart the logistics of the situation instead of paying attention to the elements of suspense within. To ask "What were they doing there in the first place?!" is besides the point. They were there, things happened and the couple had to deal with it. How would you handle the situation? Do you take charge and maintain control, or try to appease your partner by helping them with their own haphazard plan? How far would you go and what would you do to try and help the ones you declared to love survive?

Awful
crumpytv24 September 2021
Usually true to life stories are good, not this one though.

After 30 minutes, which seemed like 2 hours, I checked out the reviews to confirm my suspicions that this one bombed.

From the outset the wife was just so annoying and all the pair of them could do was bicker. Now bickering does not make for good entertainment and it seemed there was at least n hour or more of it to come, so we checked out how it ended and moved on.

I can't believe the real life Naomi would be happy with this portrayal.

Nightmare- inducing
clairelouise513 March 2021
Nature at it's most hostile. This film was simple and effective in it's horror. I live in Canada and have had my car sealed in with freezing rain. I had to literally get a chisel and chip away. It is like thick ice encasing your car. It even encases the grass, the concrete, the windows. Compound that with thick snow that then freezes over. It's rock solid. While watching this, I felt like frantically digging. It was grim, claustrophobic and desperate.

Could be better
nonsensefans28 August 2020
The acting is good, but it's too flat..like nothing thrilling or suspense happen..they just talking and arguing..plus poor that guy (I think I've seen him in tv show, he's pretty good actor)..I watched the entire things waiting for something crazy to happen..I believes this could be good if they are not based on true events at all.

Talking and talking
ferdmalenfant28 August 2020
This movie put 3 people watching to sleep. The beginning of the film kinda gave us hope that it may be a good movie but boredom soon set in and never left. It's two people stuck in a car under snow and all they do is talk about how to get out. Nothing happens. Nothing scary. Nothing suspenseful and definitely nothing interesting. Very long boring movie. Very low budget.

This must be the worst movie ever
darronboden16 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
2 inches of snow on top of their car, 2 feet from the side of the road and they decide to stay in the car for weeks? Where did the candles come from? Why didn't they try to get out as there was enough light coming in to the car for them to see during the day. So they were not totally covered. He died because he didn't want to leave the car? 8 months pregnant and flies to Norway for a book tour. I've written better than this in an English class 40 years ago. How this piece of crap ever got made I'll never know.

I question their sanity
Max_Lucas29 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Movie isn't too bad. But the situations and decisions is plain idiotic. -That's my review.

Here's my questions:

Can a woman fly that close to her due date?

The road looked like it's been plowed multiple times before the scene we seen. So why didn't they hear the plow the other times? Besides having already plowed that much snow, that car would be completely covered long before the measly amount that the plow did on his last pass.

After hearing the plow go by. Wouldn't they know what direction it went past from the sound? Wouldn't it be wise to dig that way, get to the road and be seen?

The snow is much brighter near the top of the window. Too light to be buried very deep. Why not break out the sun roof? Even holding a candle up to it may have melted enough to see sky.

Sitting in a car with nothing to do. Cell phone battery really low. Wouldn't the couple have decided exactly what to say if they were able to get a call out?

She got out of the drivers side. And started to walk the way they already came from. So how did she reach the Hotel they were headed to?

Common guys. After you put a movie together, watch it a few times, make sure it makes sense! Like the car slid off the side of the mountain side. That would of got rid of the plow truck issues.

This movie was so frustrating. Never even attempted to get out. You can see daylight through the damn window and I'm pretty sure I saw the road. What a joke.

Just a poor story that needs something to make it interesting. All talk and zero action is going to put people to sleep fast, unless that's your intent.

Awful dialogue.
chrisjay7711 December 2020
Got five minutes in and turned it off. These characters are so unlikeable. They immediately spiral into conflict at the first sign of trouble and bicker and fight the whole time. If I was stuck in the vehicle with either one of them, I'd be desperately trying to start the car and let the carbon monoxide take me. Seriously, though, folks. Don't start your car when you're snowed in lol.

15 days stuck in a car, the sequel of 1 month trapped in the bathroom.
boussourir-878459 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Basically two morons stuck inside a car for WEEKS because they decided to sleep in their car in a snowstorm. Why? because it's freezing outside. Yet they do not freeze to death after literally 15 days or so.... without any food...

At some point they spill their water bottle... the cretinous husband suddenly despairs... they lost their water.... buried in snow... which basically is water. But they don't seem to have any food or oxygen... this doesn't bother them too much.

They have 4 candles for heat... which burn very slowly during those weeks.

At some point a baby is born... because it had to happen... without too much problem, mess or complications... baby doesn't seem to need diapers, warmth or food either. The major problem with baby is that it makes noises...

Husband dies at some point, without any warning. Probably got bored. We don't really know why... I dare you to care about his death, I know I didn't.

So yeah... an incredibly stupid movie made by someone who never lived a day in even the warmest winter or never gave or witnessed birth... or never saw frozen water... someone with a very limited set of life experiences...

Oscar winner for stupid story taking itself very seriously.

Ah yeah, it made about 6500$ first weekend when it opened. That's still too much.

I can't stop writing. Hands down the stupidest movie of the last 2 years. I am completely mesmerized.

What else is left to say? Don't watch this I guess.

Inspired by a true story but...
Bdwybabe398 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
You could only do so much with a storyline with two people trapped in a car but the acting was good and as someone else commented the actors did their job. You could actually see they were acting in cold conditions ( a plus...there was actually fogging in car, the foggy breath in air with them talking and the baby being born etc. ). The story was missing that extra spark to keep you hanging on for their rescue. The desperation was there but kept fizzing out when it could have been more embellished upon when those scenes appeared. One thing that kept nagging at me since they were in that car so many days...I couldn't understand why they didn't use the headrest to keep chipping away at the top of the snow from the car window after the wife broke it to at least try to stick a piece of clothing or something out as a sign someone was there. A few years ago that is what another couple did out west and they were seen because of that. Anyway I gave the film a 6 for the acting and kudos to the realistic environmental setting.

Too stupid to live
jlc232311 December 2020
These people are idiots. She's annoying as hell and was ready to give up 10 seconds into realizing their predicament. They never tried to exit through the sunroof...they had candles but never tried to warm up the windows enough to be able to dig themselves out even a bit, they didn't try to use the rear defroster (car's battery wasn't dead, it just wouldn't turn over). Breaking the glass (finally!) with the headrest prongs will NOT lead to freezing to death...snow is an insulator which also means that the car's inside wouldn't be as cold as they're implying. A great example of everything NOT to do in this predicament.

Haunting
thegordons-042242 September 2020
Yes, some terrible decisions were made, but the story is haunting. People make bad decisions in extreme situations. Watched it with a group and we all enjoyed it. Found ourselves yelling at the screen in irritation at the characters behavior. Acting excellent.

Not Bad
sherylvee15 January 2021
I actually enjoyed this film. I've seen other reviews that say it was boring, they should've done something exciting but it's a true story, how off story can they go. Ok it's not the most exciting but putting yourselves in their shoes it must've been the most terrifying experience ever. The actors played their roles so well. I have seen films much worse/boring then this one.
