During the 1980s, US checking accounts usually started their check numbering at #101. When Sheldon is working on his parents' taxes, he notices check #129 is missing. A couple married for as long as the Coopers (presumedly about 16 years) would've written more than 30 checks in the time they would've had a joint checking account. EDIT: Check #129 could have been written on a different, or possibly new, account.
