Celebrating the advent of the wedding season in India, a scintillating pair has hit the music scene with a feisty song titled, Shola. Sung, composed and written by Akasa and Charan, Shola is a vibrant song about a feisty girl and wedding vibes!
To create the perfect video, the song features Akasa and actor Rohit Saraf.
Akasa says, “I am so glad that Shola kicks off the wedding season. The buzz that the song has attracted way before its release was quite incredible and I’m grateful for all the love that has come by so far. The process of creating this song right from writing, to composing to rendering it with Charan was truly special. When Rohit stepped on board to feature in the video, the excitement for the release of the song just spiked up for me. I hope the listeners enjoy the song as much as we enjoyed creating it.

Photo: ‘The White Tiger’/Netflix Balram Halwai (Adarsh Gourav) is born into a lowly caste of sweet-makers, destined to fruitlessly serve richer masters until he’s outlasted his usefulness--nevertheless, he does so with unwavering loyalty until he’s so heartlessly betrayed that he sets out to forge his own path by any means necessary. Based on Aravind Adiga’s 2008 novel of the same name, Netflix’s ‘The White Tiger’ initially elicits comparison with Bong Joon-ho’s ‘Parasite’--set in modern India, it recounts the story of a poor villager who finds work as a driver for a rich family, commenting on the harshly divisive class system in the process. Both discuss the way in which the rich exploit the poor, who in turn finagle what wealth they can from the rich. Photo: 'We Can Be Heroes'/Netflix As far as filmmakers working today, Robert Rodriguez is one of the more interesting ones in how you can delineate his filmography into two different paths. On one end you have his edgier fare: his collaborations with longtime friend Quentin Tarantino, the ‘Mexico’ trilogy and the ‘Machete’ and ‘Sin City’ films. On the opposite end of the spectrum are his kid-friendly films: the ‘Spy Kids’ film series and ‘The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl’. One can make the argument that for a lot of us—specifically those who came of age in the 2000s—his family films were our first introduction to his oeuvre. And in the case of ‘Sharkboy and Lavagirl’, despite poor critical and commercial response, the film gained a cult following among younger viewers. William Dalrymple’s best-selling historical book on colonialism “The Anarchy: The Relentless Rise of the East India Company,” is being adapted into a series by independent studio Wiip and India’s Roy Kapur Films.
Set during 1599 to 1802, “The Anarchy” traces the ascent of The East India Company against the decline and fall of the Mughal Empire. The novel was listed by former U.S. President Barack Obama as among his top 10 recommended books of 2019.
Roy Kapur Films acquired rights to the book in June. Executive producers on the project include Wiip’s Paul Lee (“Dickinson”) and Mark Roybal (“No Country for Old Men”), Roy Kapur Films’ Siddharth Roy Kapur (“Dangal”) and XPat Productions’ Naz Haider and Siva Natarajan.

Prolific Indian producer Siddharth Roy Kapur has acquired audio-visual rights to author and historian William Dalrymple’s bestselling historical book on colonialism “The Anarchy: The Relentless Rise of the East India Company.”
Set during 1599 to 1802, “The Anarchy” traces the ascent of The East India Company against the decline and fall of the Mughal Empire. It provides an account of how a provincial trading start-up, run by thirty people from an office in a nondescript London building, became rulers of an entire sub-continent.
“The Anarchy” was recently listed by former U.S. President Barack Obama as amongst his top 10 recommended books of 2019.
Roy Kapur Films is planning a big-budget, grand-scale series adaptation of the book with as yet unnamed international co-production partners.
Roy Kapur, former MD of The Walt Disney Company India and current President of the Producers Guild of India, produced 2016’s “Dangal,” India’s biggest worldwide grosser of all time.

Padma Lakshmi had the cleverest response after The New Yorker’s Instagram account confused the Indian author and “Top Chef” host with Indian actress Priyanka Chopra by accidentally tagging Chopra in a photo of Lakshmi.
“Thank you to the illustrious ‘@nydailynews’ for the shoutout,” Lakshmi wrote in a caption to go with a screen shot of the mistake, deliberately tagging the wrong publication. “I know to some we all look alike, but… #desilife #justindianthings.”
The New Yorker has since deleted the Instagram post. Reps for Chopra and the magazine did not respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.

Another eventful year for Indian film is almost over now, and it’s a good time to reflect on how far Indian Cinema has come, and in what ways it needs to push the envelope further.
The onset of the digital age has opened up new floodgates for content to reach audiences, who now, thanks to streaming platforms, have access to many smaller independently made films which get lost among the big brother releases on the big screen, many of these smaller films boasting of stellar filmmaking and compelling storylines.
There are certain films I really liked initially, especially Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy, which is the Indian entry to the Oscars, but I have lost much of my enthusiasm towards it by the end of the year. But that happens as our response to films change over time.
The year’s technically not over yet, big releases like Dabangg 3...

The multiple releases of the week, namely Ghost, Kirket, Junction Varanasi, Love Shot, P Se Pyaar F Se Faraar, Laal Kaptaan etc. were expectedly poor to dull with a 5 to10 percent occupancy, during the morning shows, ?with little or no improvement towards the evening. The best of the lot was obviously Saif Ali Khan?s Laal Kaptaan, but given the confusing script of the film, the audience feedback too was not positive. Additionally the dull pre- Diwali phase added to the woes of the new releases, as the cinema frequenting junta awaits Housefull 4!

The premier new release of the week, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Farhan Akhtar and Zaira Wasim venture, The Sky Is Pink, opened to a dull 10-15 percent start, which is not unexpected nor bad in the wake of War!
Had the film not released so close to War, maybe it would have fared better than the 3 crore estimated first day. But that is a hypothetical speculation and the fact of the matter is that all is not lost ?for Sky Is Pink and it can still make amends during the remaining days of the weekend.
Meanwhile, the show was dominated by the still hot ?Yash Raj Films? ?Siddharth Anand directed, ?Hrithik Roshan, Tiger Shroff, and Vani Kapoor starrer War, ?which built up beautifully on a stupendous start, netting in excess of 225 crore during the 9-day extended opening.?
