“Perd Hapley is the lynchpin of an unlikely TV multiverse” is the name of the article you’re reading. And it will begin … right now.
NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation features the deepest bench of hilarious supporting characters you’ll ever see outside of The Simpsons‘ Springfield. But even among a murderer’s row of comedic talent like Joan Callamezzo (Mo Collins), Jean-Ralphio Saperstein (Ben Schwartz), and Tammy II Swanson (Megan Mullally), there’s one resident of Pawnee who stands head and shoulders above the rest.
Local news broadcaster Perd Hapley (Jay Jackson) is quite simply a TV icon. Blessed with a very distinct vocal style (that the Parks and Rec fandom Wiki accurately categorizes as “semantically redundant”), Perd often turns up on Parks and Recreation to help describe what’s happening … literally.

Actor Julian Sands, known for roles in the films A Room With a View and Warlock, was reported missing Friday after going hiking in California’s San Gabriel Mountains earlier that day, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Nate Campos told The Hollywood Reporter.
Sands, a 65-year-old resident of North Hollywood, was reported missing around 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Baldy Bowl area of Mount Baldy, according to authorities. A search began, but ground crews were taken off the mountain Saturday evening amid avalanche risks and poor trail conditions due to snow and ice.
Search continued via helicopters and drones as weather permitted, and ground crews will resume their work when it is safe to do so. The sheriff’s department, which is working with Forest Service to find Sands, urges individuals to stay out of the area due to treacherous hiking conditions.

The sheer joy of music videos is their ability to transport you right into the heart of the onscreen action regardless of where you are at the time, which is exactly the feeling I got when watching Scheme Engine Director Wendy Morgan’s Kisé. First showing up on our pages way back in 2012 with rousing old school tent revival video Happy (which has clocked up north of 23M views), her latest collaboration with Congolese-Rwandan-Belgian singer-songwriter Lous and the Yakuza is a raw, sensory film where the images playing out on screen are just as energetic as the music pulsing through your body. Lous and the Yakuza first garnered widespread attention with her 2019 tracks Dilemme and Toute est Gore, both of which were also directed by Morgan. It’s a long-standing, fruitful working relationship which has this time around brought to fruition a slick, glossy video that’s effectively punctuated with...

Peacock today unveiled They/Them, a new Blumhouse pic starring Kevin Bacon (City on a Hill), Anna Chlumsky (Inventing Anna), Carrie Preston (Claws), Theo Germaine (4400), Austin Crute (Call Your Mother), Monique Kim (What/If), Anna Lore (All American), Cooper Koch (Power Book II: Ghost) and Darwin del Fabro (Dangerous Liaisons), which will debut on the streamer on August 5th.
The Lgbtqia+ slasher, formerly known as Whistler Camp, marks the directorial debut of three-time Oscar-nominated screenwriter John Logan (Skyfall). It’s a queer empowerment story set at a gay conversion camp that follows camp director Owen Whistler (Bacon), who is joined by several queer and trans campers for a week of programming intended to “help them find a new sense of freedom.” As the camp’s methods become increasingly more psychologically unsettling, the campers must work together to protect themselves. And when a mysterious killer starts claiming victims, things get even more dangerous.

Renée Zellweger has returned for her first role following her Oscar-winning turn as Judy Garland in “Judy.” The actress transforms into another real-life figure in the new NBC limited series “The Thing About Pam,” the stranger-than-fiction story of Pam Hupp, a Missouri woman who was eventually charged with murdering her best friend, Betsy Faria. The six-part series explores Pam’s involvement in framing Betsy’s husband for the murder, how she established alibis for herself and all the unexpected twists in the case.

Much like her work in “Judy,” Zellweger’s appearance is heavily altered to become Hupp. She sports face prosthetics and body padding to more accurately resemble her character, making her almost unrecognizable. She also speaks with a thick Missouri accent, complementing the show’s darkly comedic tone that evokes “Fargo.

In a cover story for Harper’s Bazaar, Zellweger revealed that film producers previously asked her to drink wine before nude scenes.

With WandaVision Season 1 gearing up for its big finish, all eyes are on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the next Marvel Cinematic Universe series to launch on Disney+.
A brand-new trailer dropped Sunday during the big Super Bowl event, and it did not disappoint.
The previous trailers zeroed in on Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan as Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes, and their unique bond.
That was still very present in the new 120-second spectacular, but we also got our first glimpse at Emily VanCamp's return to the MCU as Sharon Carter.
While little details are known about the series, Disney+ has offered up the following logline:
After being handed the mantle of Captain America at the end of Avengers: Endgame (2019), Sam Wilson teams up with Bucky Barnes in a worldwide adventure that puts their abilities to the test.
The series also brings back Daniel Brühl as Baron Zemo,...

Renée Zellweger is headed to broadcast TV for the first time, courtesy of NBC’s freshly ordered miniseries The Thing About Pam.
Based on a true story, the six-episode project will chronicle the 2011 murder of Betsy Faria, for which her husband, Russ, was convicted despite insisting he did not commit the crime. Russ’ conviction was later overturned, but Betsy’s death set off a chain of events that exposed a diabolical scheme involving Pam Hupp (to be played by Zellweger).

Exclusive: In her broadcast debut, two-time Oscar winner Renée Zellweger is set to headline and executive produce limited series The Thing About Pam, which has been greenlighted by NBC with a six-episode straight-to-series order.
