What Good is an Immunity Agreement?
Anonnamus7 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was pretty amazing from start to finish and I hope that bombmaker becomes a recurring character. My dislike for Elizabeth Keen wasn't alleviated with this episode. Again, her "love him hate him help me" attitude has caused the incarceration of the legendary Reddington. Methhead Jennifer needs to go, preferably with a bullet to the head. She has remained loyal to Garvey, however, which is much more than anyone can say about Liz. How she can possibly blame Reddington for the death of her husband is beyond my comprehension. Reddington tried to stop Tom from searching for answers that were none of his business, and he was killed because he didn't take the advice. Whatever. Elizabeth has proven she's just not a great person throughout the show so it wasn't a surprise. I was on the fence with her character, hoping she could redeem herself but with this her fate is sealed. She isn't going anywhere, so I truly hope Reddington finds out and refuses to bail her out the next time she finds herself in trouble.

My problem with this episode is the lack of loyalty any one of the task force, with the exception of Cooper and Aram, has given Reddington, especially considering how much he has helped them in the past, even with personal matters. Yes, he's a criminal. But he is a moral one. He never targets ANYONE who could be considered innocent. He's not the terrible psychopath that Ressler and Keen seem to treat him as. Why did Red sign an immunity agreement when it apparently can just be thrown out a window? What incentive does he have to possibly ever help them again? At this point, I'm rooting for the world to get overrun with these criminals that Red could have stopped, were he not in prison. Bye bye, Task Force. I assume Liz is going to have yet another change of heart and feel guilty and break Red out somehow, but the damage has been done. Can't wait for the next episodes.

consistency
jameselliot-123 March 2019
I agree that the writers don't seem to be keeping track of previous seasons and episodes. This is the responsibility of the show runner.

It would also be a simple matter for Liz to get a DNA sample from the Redd she knows instead of all the time wasted trying to find people connected with Redd in the past. The FBI should have had DNA samples taken when he turned himself in in the first show. And fingerprints? It's impossible to change them. The Redd who was a Naval officer will match the fugitive Redd.

The phone call at the last second saving Redd from death is so old it farts dust. I remember as a kid watching a George Reeves Superman episode using that same cliche.

Stupendous! Awesome! Beautifully cinematic!

This episode took me by surprise. Red in prison. Let's see how this show goes. I'm invested in this. But for Liz, when Red finds out that she set him up, from Sia's Elastic Heart, these are the words I imagine Red's face saying:

/But there were so many red flags/ /And let's be clear, I trust no one/

/It's hard to lose a chosen one/ /YOU DID NOT BREAK ME/ /BUT YOU WON'T SEE ME FALL APART/

Like a Phoenix from the ashes, Red will rise.

Regarding oakpoint's review
cadero222 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I felt compelled to bring some answers to oakpoint's perplexity. To cite this user's review (12 January 2019):

"In Season 1 or 2 a character told Cooper that he'd worked with Reddington in the Navy. He clearly knew him plus his personality. That has been ignored when determining that this Reddington is not the real one."

While it might have been overlooked, it has also been decades since the time the real Reddington worked in the Navy, and our Red has kept his distance, which might have allowed memories to fade. And as told in a later episode involving a criminal plastic surgeon, our Red had his appearance altered at some point by this surgeon, most likely to attain the appearance of the real Reddington, or at least as closely as possible to fool the real Reddington's old colleagues decades later. Same logic might apply to the similarity of personalities; our Red might have adopted it.

Next:

"As for whether this Reddington is Liz's father I believe there was a DNA test around Season 4 that established that he was in fact Lizzie's biological father. How then can it be that this man is not the real Raymond Reddington if we have had two previous proofs."

I talked about the first previous proof. Now for the second. The DNA test, done by Cooper, was done with DNA from Elizabeth, and from a blood stain on a shirt belonging to the real Reddington which he had when he was captured and tortured during a mission in the Navy. The shirt had been locked up in evidence since the real Reddinton's Navy days, before his disappearance. The DNA is thus lifted from the real Reddington, not our current Red. For some reason, they never tried to sample DNA directly from our Red, despite his close proximity, so at no point has our Red (yet or otherwise) had his DNA compared to Elizabeth's DNA. They just never assumed at that point that our Red was not the real Reddington (that was supposed to be a surprise for the season 5 finale).

"The storyline is not making sense to me and I'm thinking the writers are unaware of previous storylines and that the series may have jumped the shark."

I hope what I have written will make the storyline make sense, which might indicate that the writers are not entirely unaware of previous storylines. As to jumping the shark... that might be up to each and every viewer to determine for himself.

This Continues To Go Downhill
noonieblount4 September 2022
Come on weiters...It took 3 drawn out minutes for Aram to say who had been arrested. When he called he could have just said Mr. Reddington has been arrested.

The wardrobe department failed the women on this show. Samar is a very attractive individual but instead they choose to play down her looks...for what? So, she doesn't stand out over Elizabeth? Well she stands out anyway....her acting skills are far more better.

Like another reviewer said, Megan Boone is a horrible actress, she really does not make viewers feel sorry for her. Instead, watching her or even just listening to her gives most an anxiety attack. How this episode received 8.5 stars as of September 2022 is mind blowing to me.

Emotional rollercoaster!
ethancdowns8 January 2019
This episode has the most of everything! I'm surprised it only got 8.9 stars... Red and liz are on a 2 trains both headed at each other. This is an amazing espisode of sweet funny, and bittersweet. Liz is battling her emotions from the bag of bones discovery to her relationship with red over 5 years!! I do believe she would have learned how to play with him... But she constantly underestimates red at every single second and I believe she realized it at the ending of this episode! The battle has begun and you cant keep a bad dog down!!!

The addition of Jeniffer as a sister to Liz is idiotic and ruins the series
TobyRossTLV22 June 2023
Why in god's name did they have to bring in this charcter who serves no purpose- it makes Liz look more of a misfit in this film than she really already is- and that sisterhood looks like it belongs more in Barbi the movie than here. Blacklist has some riverting episodes (The Alaskan isolation of Liz battling a gang of criminals is one lots of the first ones are good - but when its bad its a skip over to the next one with a sincere hope that it stands up to what it claims to be a thriller- There are other characters that I find as a misfire but it is not the actual writing its the persona (Tom Keen) I am uncomfortable with. I do love Glen and some of the cartoony characters.

Red tours the UN
lukebernstein35 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Red and Liz and the task force race to stop a bombing at the UN. Red gives a funny speech in the episode. And then he finds himself in a surprising situation. This was a great episode. And the reveal at the end puts Liz in big trouble with Red in the future I am sure.

Unexpected, curious to see how this will play out
foamythefearsome29 November 2022
I'm not really feeling the Jennifer character they've put out there as their interaction changes constantly. They did not get along, then Jen's guardian gets killed and shes mad, and now since the finale of the last season they're in it together, which just feels like an odd change in allegiance.

For the same reason I'm very surpised by what they did in this episode, especially since it feels very poorly thought out by the two gals - as if they have no sense of consequence at all.

The upside is that it provides a very interesting new dynamic where Reddington appears helpless, and Im curious how he will manage to get out of this mess; perhaps even more curious if he'll find out liz is responsible, and what he'd do if he does.

Goody, Goody, Goody
Hitchcoc29 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This is a great development and will provide a lot of entertainment. We find out in the end that Elizabeth set Reddington up to be captured. How his incarceration does anything to answer her questions, I don't know. That stupid sister of Liz's is pushing things on. There is a great scene at the UN which brought in the bomb guy. What I'm going to enjoy is watching Reddington go face to face with that woman who is tanking up for the governorship. She gets in his face, the face that some of the most horrible people in the world have been and paid the price. She is going to undermine the special force to get herself ahead. It's all fun and games now. And what will happen when Liz is found out--or does the big guy already know?
