Anna Camp and Griffin Matthews have been cast in “You” Season 5 at Netflix as series regulars, Variety has learned exclusively.
The pair are the latest additions to the cast of the popular show’s fifth season, which will also be its final season. It was previously announced that Madeline Brewer would also appear in a series regular role.
Camp will play both Raegan and Maddie Lockwood, twin sisters-in-law to Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley). The characters are described as follows: “Raegan is the cunning, cutthroat CFO of the Lockwood Corp who has her eyes on the throne and will crush any adversary…be them family or not. Maddie, on the other hand, presents as the unserious twin, a thrice-divorced socialite whose job is ‘vaguely PR.’ But make no mistake, a master manipulator lies underneath Maddie’s frivolous façade.”
Matthews will play Teddy Lockwood, described as the “snarky yet loyal brother-in-law of Joe Goldberg.

Rom-coms are a staple of cinema and have been for decades. Right alongside action movies and horror flicks, these tales of romance infused with humor are often there to help anchor any given year at the movies. Yet, they are often viewed as nothing more than popcorn movies; the cinematic equivalent of empty calories. Director Michael Showalter's "The Idea of You" is here to remind us that these movies can be so much more than that. At their best, they can be illuminating experiences that shed meaningful light on the human condition. Thanks in no small part to a stellar performance by Anne Hathaway and a star-making turn for Nicholas Galitzine, this is the genre at its best.
The film centers on Solène (Hathaway), a 40-year-old single mom who has to chaperone her teenage daughter's trip to the Coachella after her ex-husband bails at the last minute. There, she...

Based on Robinne Lee’s 2017 novel of the same name, The Idea Of You finds Anne Hathaway falling for a much younger pop-star.

The film is directed by Michael Showalter who is no stranger to compelling rom-coms. Showalter previously directed The Big Sick and The Lovebirds among other titles. He also directed Jessica Chastain to a Best Actress win for her performance in Showalter’s The Eyes Of Tammy Faye.
Nicholas Galitzine stars as Hathaway’s much younger love interest Hayes, who is part of the popular boy band August Moon.

Spring is right around the corner (thank god for that), which means romance will be in the air! What better way to celebrate than by watching the trailer for a movie where Anne Hathaway plays a hot mom who falls in love with a younger pop star? In "The Idea of You," Hathaway is a woman who takes her teen daughter to Coachella. I know, I know — that sounds like a fate worse than death. But don't worry — there's love to be had! Because while at the extremely hip music festival, Hathaway's character strikes up a romance with a 20-something guy who happens to be the lead singer of a pop boyband.

Barbie may be everything, and Ken is just Ken, but what about the people in the Real World they meet along the way? Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, based on the popular dolls, is a hyper-stylized take on the Mattel toys that sees the titular doll journey from Barbie Land to the Real World on a quest of self-discovery.
This movie definitely looks the part, but it wouldn’t be what it is without its incredible all-star cast full of award-winning actors and familiar faces. Here’s what you need to know about the Barbie characters and the actors who play them.

“Who are we going to trick into making our bats–t movie?”
That’s the question Adele Lim said she faced as she and her partners puzzled over how to get their travel comedy “Joy Ride” made. The answer, the “Crazy Rich Asians” writer said at the movie’s SXSW premiere, where her film got a warm reception, turned out to be Lionsgate. “Joy Ride” — which follows a young Asian woman who travels to China with her friends on a business trip — became a highlight at Lionsgate’s CinemaCon presentation in April.
After years of seeming to fear the funny, Hollywood studios like Lionsgate are making a concerted effort to bring live-action comedies back to theaters. The problem is that comedy now pervades theatrical genres. Superhero movies, romantic stories and horror movies all seem to require a wink and a nudge these days. After a decade-long friendship, comedy producers David Bernad and Todd Schulman finally put together their hidden-camera comedy expertise to make Amazon Freevee’s viral success “Jury Duty.”

The two have had successful stints with unconventional comedy subgenres, most recently within the improvised-scripted sphere. In a week when distributors and exhibitors reconvene for their annual Las Vegas meet-up CinemaCon and celebrate the post-pandemic resurge of the box office, the motion picture industry is also bracing for a potential Writers Guild of America strike.
With production and deal-making slowing down — especially with 98% of WGA West and WGA East members authorizing a strike if a fair new film/TV deal isn’t met by the May 1 deadline — how could that possibly dent the box office boom, one Gower Analytics projects will result in an estimated $32 billion globally, up 24% from last year, and $9 billion stateside, up 200%?
Just as a majority of exhibitors are getting back on their feet financially after Covid’s great shutdown of 2020-21, studio sources outlined a worst-case scenario to Deadline should the WGA strike span more than four months.
In short, the theatrical release calendar would see several date changes for pics, as soon as Q4 this year.

In “The Eyes of Tammy Faye,” Andrew Garfield and Jessica Chastain play Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker, the self-styled Christian TV personalities who did more than anyone else to mold televangelism into a game-changing, culture-shaking, credit-card-maxing industry/cult/diversion. The movie, which is a ticklishly fascinating rise-and-fall saga, was directed by Michael Showalter, who almost always makes comedies, so you might expect him to treat the Bakker saga as a delicious slice of kitsch — which, in a sense, it was.
There’s a bit of that, but Showalter is up to something more sly, and maybe more artful. In “The Eyes of Tammy Faye,” he gives Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker the full dignity — and scandal — of their humanity. He knows that a lot of people think of the Bakkers as walking caricatures, and that in the case of Tammy Faye, with her infamous troweled-on ’60s-raccoon-from-Maybelline clown-freak makeup, she verged on self-parody.

Issa Rae has become a bit of a household name in recent years. But even though the actress has landed high-profile films such as “The Lovebirds,” “The Photograph,” and a supporting role in the upcoming “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse” sequel, she really broke out thanks to her series, “Insecure.” And like all great things, eventually “Insecure” has to come to an end.

Paramount has shaken up its theatrical release schedule. Two anticipated sequels slated for release this fall, “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Jackass Forever,” will instead be released next year, while “Mission: Impossible 7” has been moved from May to November of 2022.
Deadline reported that the move came after Paramount decided the current pandemic conditions would not be ideal for the launch of the tentpoles. It’s the latest sign that the Covid release-date shuffle that has plagued movies for the last year-and-a-half is far from over.
“Top Gun: Maverick,” the first sequel for the 1986 Tom Cruise actioner, was slated for release in June 2020, but that’s been changed several times. Most recently it was set for a pre-Thanksgiving release on November 19.
It is now dated for Memorial Day weekend next May, the most recent slot for another Tom Cruise action film, the seventh installment of “Mission: Impossible.” Now that movie will...

Henry Golding has been cast alongside Dakota Johnson in Netflix’s adaptation of the Jane Austen novel “Persuasion.”
The movie will serve as a modern-day retelling of the romantic drama, centering on the conforming Anne Elliot (Johnson), who lives with her snobby family on the brink of bankruptcy. When Anne, unmarried at 27-years-old, reconnects with Frederick Wentworth, a man she was once persuaded to reject, she faces a second chance at love.
Golding, who shot to stardom as the heartthrob Nick Young in “Crazy Rich Asians” and later led the romantic comedies “A Simple Favor” and “Last Christmas,” surprisingly has not been cast as the love interest. Instead, he will play Mr. Elliot, the cousin of Johnson’s character. Netflix has not announced the actor who will play Frederick Wentworth.
Carrie Cracknell, known for directing Jake Gyllenhaal in “Sea Wall/ A Life” on Broadway, is stepping behind the camera in her feature directorial debut.

Neil Flynn, Ryann Shane and Nash Grier round out the cast.
Mazzello, who played John Deacon in the Oscar-nominated biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, is repped by Buchwald, Podwall Entertainment and Felker Toczek.
Hunt directed the pic from a screenplay by Rodney Vaccaro. On the red carpet at the 2017 Emmys, Issa Rae told Variety, “I’m rooting for everybody Black.” The interview went viral, with memes, GIFs and unauthorized merchandise featuring her one-liner flooding the internet.
It was a candid moment for the multi-hyphenate star, but her actions back up the sentiment. From the stories she tells on-screen to how she promotes and has launched Black-owned businesses and, most evidently, in the talent she works to elevate, Rae is indeed rooting for everybody Black and using her celebrity to make that possible.
So, when Black Lives Matter reached out to Rae last summer to create a line of T-shirts using her quip as a slogan, she was quick to greenlight the project.
“I had never officially made ‘Rooting for Everybody Black’ shirts and loved the idea of partnering with them for an intentional cause,” Rae tells Variety of the collaboration, which has raised...

Kevin Hart’s upcoming drama “Fatherhood” will fittingly premiere on Netflix on Father’s Day weekend.
The film, directed by Paul Weitz, was originally set up at Sony Pictures and slated to release theatrically on April 16. However, the studio has negotiated a licensing deal with Netflix (excluding China) as nearly 50% of U.S. cinemas remain shuttered due to the coronavirus pandemic. “Fatherhood” will now debut on the streaming platform on June 18.
With the move to Netflix, Barack and Michelle Obama’s production company Higher Ground have boarded the movie. Dana Stevens wrote the script with Weitz.
Sony has offloaded a few films during the pandemic, including Seth Rogen’s “An American Pickle” to HBO Max and the Kristen Stewart-led romantic comedy “Happiest Season” to Hulu. At the same time, Netflix has been an active buyer, acquiring titles like Aaron Sorkin’s “The Trial of the Chicago 7,” romantic comedy...

In a clear sign that Paramount is committed to theatrical, but still open to the future of streaming, A Quiet Place Part II and Mission: Impossible 7 will go on the streaming service 45 days after their theatrical release dates.
A Quiet Place Part II was originally scheduled to open on March 20 last year before Covid derailed its release date plans. The picture was rescheduled for Labor Day weekend last year temporarily, then pushed ultimately to Sept. 17 this year after Tenet opened and fizzled stateside last August with New York and Los Angeles multiplexes closed. The first John Krasinski directed horror film, which he also starred in with wife Emily Blunt, took off like a comet, initially at its SXSW world premiere in 2018, then opening to $50.2M, and grossing $188M domestic, $341M WW off a $17M production cost.
Mission: Impossible 7 is currently scheduled to hit theaters on Nov. 19. Through six movies,...

Henry Danger, a popular superhero show on Nickelodeon from 2014 to 2020, saw its first three seasons on Netflix land at No. 4 on Nielsen’s U.S. streaming rankings for January 18 to 24.
Bridgerton repeated at No. 1, collecting 1.06 billion minutes of viewing during the week, its fifth consecutive week past the 1 billion minute mark. Netflix, which again controlled all 10 spots in the rankings, has called the show its best-performing original of all time, and a second season of the Shonda Rhimes period drama is in the works.
Henry‘s strong showing, with 731 million minutes of viewing, comes just weeks before Nickelodeon parent ViacomCBS rebrands streaming service CBS All Access as Paramount+ in a high-profile streaming push. In fact, the show’s first four seasons have been available on CBS All Access, but the Netflix debut came on January 21.
Even as ViacomCBS nurtures ambitions for Paramount+, which will be showcased next week at an event for investors and press,...
