Must see for fans of maffia movies

One of the best Dutch series ever made. Good thrilling story line untill the end and good acting in general. I wonder though why the writer and his wife are added in the story. They seem to have quit a superficial role in the episodes so far.

What mocro mafia shows well is the hopeless situation of many underprivileged young people in the Netherlands. the temptations and violence that quick money and drugs bring. the grief for the families of these boys.
Tatta is played wonderfully by Robert de Hoog, normally best known for romantic films. no character comes off well (like for example with Peaky Blinders, you love Arthur and Tommy even though they are criminals). In this series that is not the case because of the ruthlessness and cruel actions. Well acted and a great springboard for young talent!

Great first two seasons

Warning: Spoilers
Season 1 and 2 are amazing. Good storylines and great acting from the Netherlands. Between two rival factions and easily understandable.
Season 3, I must say the newly cast people are very young and often don't act as good as the original cast. (Muis, Elias, Taliban, Mo de show) They miss also depth in their characters.
Zakaria is a main character but not doing it for me, he looks like 14 and it does not feel realistic to me.
He is not impressive in that role and it feels he is too young to be a soldier.
Season 4, the storylines are so scattered and there are: Mexicans, Paus, Turks, Romano to name some. It is difficult to follow.
I feel that they lost the magic from the first two seasons and part of it is the young cast and weird storylines.

Good series for Dutch TV standards, but overrated by many

Overall I think it's a good series, definitely for Dutch TV standards. If I would compare it with a series I would say it's like the Dutch version of Gomorrah.
But what I'm dissapointed about is what the series could have been. The creators originally based the series on a book thats written about the Mocro Maffia by some journalists. With that in mind, the series had the potential to be a Dutch The Wire. I would have liked if they showed problems in the community of Amsterdam, and how young kids are drawn into that mocro mafia world. But they didnt take that opportunity and went with the safe choice to replicate Gomorrah and some bits of Breaking Bad.
Examples of some bad choices imo:
Examples of some bad choices imo:
- The main villain, Paus, is a really bad cast. But he is the writer of the scenario so yeah he gave himself a nice role.
- the scene where the young moroccan police officer doesnt call for back up in the car and wont show his badge to the officers that were standing him up. Really bad unrealistic scene, and there more scenes like this.
Absolutely briljant serie!!!

Normally I don't really like Dutch series, but mocro mafia is in my opinion comparable with the best international top series. incredibly realistic, it spares no one, especially the viewers. It is difficult to distinguish between fiction and reality. I highly recommend it, it is relentless, very exciting and in the role play is absolutely brilliant! Wow wow wow!!!
Way better than expected.

This show is way better than i expected. The character development and backstories are deep. The story is wel written and as a dutchman myself i know this happens in real life aswell. it's not based on a true story, but it sure feels like it.
I binge-watched 24 episodes in 3 days

Entertaining, but lack of creativity and depth
under-cover-198-44123014 October 2018
Entertaining series, but lacks in creativity and depth and will not suit for those in need of caracter development. A lot of decisions made by the caracters are not reasoned well and changes of mind are written without cause and effect. It is very entertaining but highly uncreative as a lot of the caracters and their stories are a copy of real happenings and people in the Amsterdam underworld.
The series have high potential and hopefully the second season will be better for those seeking more depth in a story.
Great series. On-Nederlands goed

Warning: Spoilers
Great series. Very exciting. Good acting. Feels like a Hollywood production instead of a Dutch production.
Sadly they have killed the series in the last episode of season 2, when they just killed off Mouse, one of the more relatable in-depth characters. According to rumor because of tension on the set the actor playing Mouse had to go.
Story wise completely illogical, rush job and badly written conclusion of the 2nd seasons.
Just guessing but maybe disadvantage if one of the writers is also a main character (who wants to be the sole main character)?
Rest of the series is super, a fat 9/10.

Big improvement after first season
under-cover-198-44123023 March 2020
I wrote the first review of the first season. Looks like they listened to my critique. Thus far the second season is really making uo for the lack of in depth character development. Very interesting to see how it develops after this. After all I think I would be dissappointed because the length of the episodes is too short to thruly develop the characters, but for Dutch shows I think its an improvement.
Struggles with fundamental storytelling elements.
PimKraster1 December 2018
Despite its promising source material, the show falls short of its potential.
From the onset, it becomes evident that "Mocro Maffia" struggles with fundamental storytelling elements. The narrative feels disjointed, lacking the cohesive structure necessary to engage viewers. Character development is notably absent, putting characters on screen that feel shallow and unrelatable. The dialogue often comes across as contrived and lacking in authenticity and it ultimately fails to deliver on the fundamental aspects of storytelling that elevate a series to international or Hollywood standards.
Nevertheless, amidst these shortcomings, the series manages to shine in one aspect: its performances. The main cast delivers commendable portrayals, injecting moments of greatness into a lackluster script. Their dedication to their roles is evident, providing a glimmer of hope amidst the show's overall mediocrity.
Ultimately, "Mocro Maffia" may appeal to a specific audience seeking a gritty portrayal of crime in the Netherlands. However, for those used to watching American or British crime shows, it may fall short of expectations.

best dutch show ever but not the best maffia show
metintomas-6382220 March 2020
This show is trying to mix the violence, drama and the politics of Narcos with the nudity and sexuality of Altered Carbon, yet could not reach its goal. overdosed and unnecessary nudity, sexuality, bars, sex clubs. very predictable and cliche scenerio and lack of creativity. a lot of filler sex scenes and lots of scenes as a sign of producers lack of creativity
Very good, I binge watched all episodes
paulvancraeynest5 October 2021
The story is quite raw. Most characters are relentless criminals that casually kill anybody when they feel like it.
The acting is superb, especially for a Dutch series. Most Dutch movies or series suffer from wooden acting. Not this one.
