Absolutely no originality but a bit terrifying n aided by a good performance.

Warning: Spoilers
The best part about this film is the cinematography which kinda reminded me of Green Room.

The poster is misleading. A car does stops in the middle of nowhere but in the movie it never stops in front of a shack/house.

The premise has been done umpteenth no of times, Wrong Turn, TCM, Hills have Eyes n other backwoods slashers.

Apart from this, the film has clichés after clichés, characters doing stupid things, characters trusting total strangers, characters getting caught n beaten over n over again.

I am trying to recollect another movie which has similar ending regarding 'Oxford'.

Got it now. The film is Bloody Hell. Both has similar endings where a cannibalistic creature/ogre/fella is unleashed towards the end.

I dont kno which came earlier or which inspired which.

Nothing new. Not good. Not Bad

Warning: Spoilers
This movie had the feel of Wrong Turn, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and even a hint of Hills Have Eyes. It's not a bad movie. I can't figure out why cars keep breaking down in the same area. I could understand if it was a flat tire (like in Hills Have Eyes) but engine troubles in both cars? I also wish we were given a little more back story on the family and/or the teens. But the movie held my attention and I was interested to see how it would end. If anyone wants to enjoy a nice little gory slasher film that pays homage to the bigger titles listed above, you might get some enjoyment from this one.

What's the point?! Warning: Spoilers
SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS!!!...............

When everyone is killed in the end, there's no point in watching because then the film is just 90 minutes of people getting murdered. You need to have a survivor, someone who fights back, someone to overcome the killers to make the viewer's time worthwhile.

Granted, I didn't care much for the 90's era foursome, but I wanted at least ONE of them to survive and make it out of there otherwise there's no point and it's 90 minutes wasted. You need to have a final girl or guy to survive these types of movies! When they all die, it's just a plot less massacre! UGH.

Chop it up.

Warning: Spoilers
Butchers is so unoriginal you know what's going to happen at every "Wrong Turn," still it's alright.

Simon Phillips does a decent job as lead butcher. We know almost nothing about the characters, except they're cheating on each other. Pretty forgettable, but you can do a lot worse than this.

Lazy Writing All Around
christopherwilliamdiorio26 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
As others have stated, this is Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Wrong Turn, Hills Have Eyes, etc. We've seen it dozens of time. It's so cliched the writers even throw in a meta-joke ("We don't eat the meat. That would be too cliched") in an attempt to, uh, I don't know, think their script is somehow original.

There is no suspense. No horror. Nothing that makes this worth watching.

Three stars for decent cinematography and acting for this type of movie.

Texas chainsaw meets wrong turn. acting is ok, storyline is simple and very predictable. effects are ok. lots of screaming and a few jumps, a monster. kind of deiverance family bump into a group of teenage kids. there is a lot of movies of this ilk out there that are a lot worse, but there is far more out there that are far better. its worth a watch , but only once.

A total waste of time
jacerocks12 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Everything about this movie is cliché. Everything has been done better by other movies. Texas chainsaw, wrong turn, holloween, friday the 13th, Hotel hell, those movies did it way better. This movie is nothing more than a wanna be and failed miserably. Stupid logic of characters, getting stuck in the middle of nowhere, trusting strangers that are obviously odd and suspicious, and finally getting killed in the end, sums up everything about this movie.

Garbage movie
terrencepatrix13 January 2021
This is a nothing movie. It's a bare bones knock off of Texas Chainsaw without any of the iconic characters that make it interesting. There's not even any lore or story here to explain any of it. People's cars break down while passing through and a few people show up to dispatch them...off screen mind you. There's not even any gore to be found here. There's a little bit of Hills Have Eyes in that one woman is impregnated, but it's literally 10 minutes of the entire movie.

It's shot well is the only positive, they had some good angles and production, but there is no real story. The acting is what it is...there's no story so it's just them spouting their lines. It's not scary, or dramatic, or mysterious...it's literally just 2 groups of people breaking down and being preyed upon by southern hillbilly stereotypes...and they weren't even good or had any accent.

It's just a trash movie shot with a good camera, don't bother.

Dark stuff
scheduledgeoff14 March 2021
Great cinematography and very dark. Slow middle offset by good suspense, and the final act is really cool. Not sure how some people gave this a 1 or 2...it's actually really good.

This movie is stupid but you know what?
nunya655218 October 2021
The acting of the two lead gentleman is absolutely fantastic. They're really talented. I think they're worth the watch. Just be aware there's some pregnancy violence or whatever. I wasn't ready for that.

Very Disappointing
denisshortycondie20 January 2021
Great poster, terrible movie. Found myself unable to care about any of the characters. Was this supposed to be a slow burn, or was it s 30 minute script stretched to the length of a feature film?

Nothing new here...
paul_haakonsen28 March 2021
Well, granted I hadn't even heard about this 2020 horror movie titled "Butchers" before now in 2021 as I had the chance to sit down to watch it. And it being a horror movie that I hadn't already seen was, of course, sufficient enough to make me opt to sit down to watch it.

Turns out that "Butchers" from writers Adrian Langley and Daniel Weissenberger was just another run-of-the-mill movie about a deranged family living in the remote countryside where they prey upon travelers that happen to come by. The family captures, tortures and kills their prey with everything available to them. Yeah, this is something that has been seen dozens of times already in other movies, like "Texas Chainsaw Massacre", "The Hills Have Eyes", "Wrong Turn", etc. And keep in mind, a lot of movies does it better than "Butchers".

Sure, "Butchers" was watchable enough, but for a seasoned horror veteran and gorehound as myself, then "Butchers" just didn't really cut it - pardon the pun. The movie was just too bland and generic. I suppose, if you are new to the horror genre and not familiar with movies like the aforementioned titles, then you might find some enjoyment in this 2020 movie.

The acting in the movie was adequate enough for a movie of this particular subgenre of horror. However, you shouldn't go expecting to see some stellar performances though. You pretty much know what you get from a movie such as "Butchers".

Visually then "Butchers" was actually not too bad. I mean, there is an okay amount of mayhem and gore in the movie. However, again "Butchers" just doesn't step out of the mediocre circle, and everything presented in the movie is something that has been seen in other movies, and often done better in other movies as well.

It should be said, though, that the ending of the movie was actually good. In fact, that was the best part of the movie. I liked the ending, I have to admit that, but it just was too little and too late to make amends for the rest of the movie.

All in all, "Butchers" wasn't an impressive movie from director Adrian Langley. It was watchable, but it was also generic and forgettable. It is hardly a movie that I will be returning to watch a second time, as the movie just doesn't have enough proper contents to support a second viewing.

My rating of "Butchers" settles on a generous four out of ten stars, taking into consideration that the movie isn't really bad, it was just too generic and suffered from being something that had been done countless times before it already.

I liked it

Warning: Spoilers
I see all these reviews from the laissez-faire horror fans. We dont get many good non-supernatural gut curdling gore flicks. The only problem I have is the cast wasnt large enough, and most of the "Victims" were pretty selfish, which makes it hard to like them. It couldve been a Tobe Hooper type flick if we had a larger cast. I actually hope Mike Bracken takes a look at this and reviews it on Sick Flicks @TheHorrorGeek.

A slasher with nothing new to offer, but keeps the gore flowing! [+42%]
arungeorge1314 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
A distant cousin of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Wrong Turn, Butchers offers little to get enticed by. A slasher such as this works best when its antagonists are devilishly quirky. While it validates most things on the slice n' dice checklist, the texture attributed to the antagonists isn't interesting enough. There's a mentally-challenged-but-brawny little brother, the older butcher-brother who mouths most of the dialogue, the tow-truck-driving weirdo-uncle, and the monster-in-the-shed. The protagonists have been written in such a lazy way that we don't feel a thing when something nasty happens to them. Gorehounds may find a mild level of satisfaction though. Also, it at least manages to subvert that clichéd survive-the-climax trope.

It delivers what it promises
K_Rad8812 September 2021
They're butchers, and they butcher people. The character development wasn't great, but O was engaged for the entire movie and the acting of the brothers was very good. It's a neat little slasher with a bit of gore, no real twists so it's good to watch when you don't want to think too much!

Waste of time...
Thanos_Alfie21 March 2021
"Butchers" is a Horror movie in which we watch a group of friends facing a family of butchers on a remote place after their car broke down. They have to try their best in order to escape by this family because after their capturing they do not have any other choice.

I did not have high expectations from this movie so, I was not disappointed by it. The plot was very simple but this was not the problem, the problem was the direction and the interpretations of the cast. I understand that it's a low budget movie but we have watched other and far better low budget movies than this one. Lastly, I have to say that "Butchers" is a below average horror movie that I do not recommend it to anyone because I am sure that you won't enjoy it. If you want to watch a horror movie I am sure that you will find a better movie than this.

Rednecks hunting young people done right
aeongale14 January 2021
No slow build up at the beginning, just BAM straight into the murkiness of what it's all about. It then does a of bit slow building up when a group of mid 20s car breaks down. Here's the only weak spot of cliché dialogue and average acting until the ball gets rolling again. Swatton and Phillips deliver a great performance with purposeful directing. While there's no real depth to the character's story, anyone rating this under 5 stars needs to watch more indie horror films.

Pretty good horror movie
nicko25200824 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
What were you expecting from a movie called butchers? The first scene was very shocking. From the start this takes a bite and never let's go. From start to finish this movie is brutal, no sugar coating. A PURE horror film. Main actor is very disturbing, enjoyed this a lot. See this if you are a fan of, hostel, wrong turn, don't go in the woods, deliverance etc. Very gorey backwoods hillbillie killers. The kids breakdown in the woods, actually multiple kids breakdown. They live on some rural road where every 20 minutes a group of dumb teens breakdown. Always a fresh batch of meat outside. They hack the bodies to bits and feed to an OX that has developed a taste for human flesh. They are literally butchers.. great film.

This is the worst movie I have ever watched. Suspenseful. But there is no real plot. The ending is terrible. Complete waste of time. I do not recommend this movie to anyone. Worthless. I would find a new career if this what kind of movies I made. Dumb.

For this kind of non scary bloody movie, it just lost its selling point. If it can't be better than others, no point to produce this. Also, this kind of movie no need storyline much, be bloody and scare audience and cut the crap out. And this one too many storytelling, Zzzzzzzz.
