Goofy and enjoyable...
paul_haakonsen10 October 2019
Right, well the reason for me sitting down to watch the 2018 movie "Hantu Kak Limah" was solely because it was an Asian movie. Turns out that it was actually well worth taking the time to sit through, because this was an enjoyable horror comedy.

Sure, it was goofy and corny, but that actually worked quite well in favor of the movie, and the movie was actually fun to watch.

I think this was my first Malaysian movie seen, and while the movie does have a fairly bad cover, then that shouldn't deter you from sitting down and watching it.

The storyline is enjoyable and funny, and the story is well-paced actually, with a good selection of characters in the storyline to help bring it to life. Lots of odd characters and goofballs.

While "Hantu Kak Limah" is a horror comedy, it is the comedy aspect of the movie that weighs the heaviest. The horror is merely a backdrop upon which the story is founded.

The special effects in the movie worked out well enough, despite it not being top of the line or special effects or CGI that will bedazzle you and blow your mind.

The acting in the movie was good, taking into consideration the type of movie that "Hantu Kak Limah" turned out to be. I enjoyed the performances of the cast, although I wasn't familiar with a single one of them.

"Hantu Kak Limah" turned out to be a fun experience, and a rather enjoyable surprise. If you have the chance to sit down and watch it, I can warmly recommend that you do so. Just keep in mind that it is a goofy horror comedy, unlike many other horror comedies. This is truly unique.

My rating of "Hantu Kak Limah" is six out of ten stars.

High expectation, high disappointment

I support local movie despite the movie is over rated. The plot is too dull to be dragged for almost 2 hours. Anyway, judge yourselves

Good starting film at first, then goes downhill

After much persuasion from my kids, insisting to watch this movie ever since the first day the film is released, I finally give it a go and took them yesterday at gsc Melawati mall. Have you ever notice certain malay films they started of with a grand scale filled with tons of great scenes and the balance ¾ of the films just lays flat. I notice that in most of mamat khalid's film. He did a great job with a nice Arial view of the river and comedic performance by the actors delivered strongly on the first 20-30 minutes. I absolutely love every scenes from Mr ropie Cecupak in that first 30minutes. Holy crap he even reminded me about the long time television commercial jingle for a juice company. Funny fella. The broken English he uses kept me laughing. The rest of the thespians also do justice in their roles but not as outstanding as Mr ropie.

It is not a must see movie, you still have other options to see it afterwards unless you have a lot of free time to spare, then go see lah. Congratulations on the producers and director on collecting millions in profit from the many malays that you have suck and seduce into your Hantu Kak Limah movie realms.

If mamat khalid is reading this review, ill bet you are a very happy person now. Please don't forget to contribute this movie profit into your zakat payments ya...hehehe

Full of comedy , story-line actually good compare to other previous installment. This is the best comedy horror genre ever made in Malaysia . Director Mamat Khalid know how the recipe to satisfy Malaysian cinema. The actors so good playing their character that already been in few movies already. A must watch movie ,really recommended it, don't take it too serious this not Sherlock Holmes This is HKL.

Not really funny

Warning: Spoilers
For me the movie is too simple and not so funny as been spread out thru the local social media. But it is ok for family humor only, I am quite frustrated.

Overrated af

Some people I know were raving this movie like it is one of the best movies ever made in Malaysian film industry, suggesting that I could be laughing my ass off throughout the whole movie due to its never-ending humor. I'm a sucker for comedy films, it is my favorite genre after all. Prior to watching the movie, I kept an open mind, expecting to have a great time in the cinema. Unfortunately it turned out to be one of the worst movies I've ever watched, right behind the absolute atrocious "Cinta Beruang". So many stupid jokes, most of the time it felt like you're being forced to have a laugh. It was cringe-worthy. The more I spend time watching it, the more it feels like I'm losing my brain cells. Absolutely a time waster, not recommended at all.

Only Nayan's part is the funniest in the movie
Highcritic-9584515 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Only Nayan is the funniest in the movie, enjoyed watching his part, the rest of the cast are so lame. The elves part and the actors singing part (except for Datuk Vida's singing which is quite funny) are such waste of time.

What a movie. Breaking Malaysia record. This is not the 1st time they did it. Comedy Horror movie that bring people together from multi culture plus repeat watching. From start to end never stop laughing. Be ready to meet a doctor after movie end. Its to fix your jaw after to much laughing.

Beautiful cinematography

This film was shot very well for no reason LMAO There are nice camera angles and good framing. This is a film that's funny because it's corny. The actors are hamming it up, which is genuinely amusing at times, but whew.

And then the elf musical number broke out and I was like, damn that's p good.

I mean, I'm probably still going to force my friends to watch this.
