I enjoyed this documentary about how Meretas life. The story was mostly told through her children. I learned a lot from this interesting flick.

Since seeing Patu in Australia in about 1988 I've had a great admiration for Merata Mita. This is a beautifully told story of a sadly missed, beautiful New Zealand treasure a true wahine kaha ataahua made by her talented son. Parts of it moved me deeply.

The Decolonising Film Maker

An enlightening account of a great film maker. New Zealand has many dark chapters to it's history. Her films are catalysts for colonial history to be retold by the descendants of those whose land was forcefully confiscated.
