Abeckaser stars with Jackie Cruz, Katie Cassidy, Harlow Jane, David James Elliott, Robert Davi, Jasper Polish, Greg Finley, James Madio, David James Elliott, Elya Baskin and Courtney Lopez in the ensemble, which wrapped production at the end of March after a shoot in Los Angeles. Abeckaser also produced with Wild7Films’ Kyle Stefanski and Mike Hermosa, and Above the Clouds’ Jeff Hoffman. Executive producers are Katie Cassidy, Ron Rofe, Isaac Gindi, Eddie Gindi and Gustavo Nascimento.
“I Love Us was such a passion project and a labor of love. I felt the movie deserved to be with a company that really believes and loves the movie like I do. The pic, which follows the shakeup of the worldwide annual fitness competition The CrossFit Games in the midst of the pandemic, will debut on iTunes and Apple TV on July 20, followed by digital platforms and VOD on August 3.

Things have been pretty quiet on the movie front for a while, given the pandemic, but this weekend marks a major upswing in content for cinema lovers, with multiple brand new releases available. Judd Apatow’s The King of Staten Island is unfortunately not up for streaming at present, but Netflix Original Da 5 Bloods, the latest effort from the Oscar-winning Spike Lee, is. For family audiences, there’s also Artemis Fowl over on Disney Plus, which was originally set for a theatrical release back in May.
Even outside of these new films though, there’s plenty of fresh titles coming to the various streaming services this weekend, from classic movies, recent hits, new TV series, old TV series, etc. Whatever combination of services you’re subscribed to, you can fill your whole weekend watching what’s coming to Netflix, Disney Plus, Amazon, HBO Max and the rest over the next few days.

Martin Scorsese’s mobster movie swan song The Irishman will not spell the death knoll for gangster films as long as independents continue to mine lesser known criminals. The upcoming series Silent Partners brings a Genovese family unit to series on the same service that brought Robert De Niro and Al Pacino's mob pairing. “Who doesn’t love spaghetti?” asks New York State Trooper Ed Croswell (David Arquette) while on a date with single mother Natalie (Jennifer Esposito) in “Mob Town,” and the answer, according to Danny A. Abeckaser’s film, is no one. The traditional Italian dish figures prominently in this low-rent Mafia tale, which — based on an infamous gathering of top organized-crime bigwigs in remote upstate Apalachin, N.Y. — has been concocted with nothing but stale, clichéd ingredients. Clumsy in every respect, it’s .
Via introductory text cards and newspaper headlines, Abeckaser’s film lays out its premise: on Nov. 14, 1957, approximately 100 members of the Mafia, from all corners of the country, gathered at the Apalachin estate of Joe Barbara (Abeckaser) under the orders of Vito Genovese (Robert Davi), who wanted to establish himself as the Luciano crime family’s boss of bosses (“capo dei capi”) in the wake of taking out rivals Frank Costello and Albert Anastasia.

The upcoming indie gangster film Mob Town tells a historic story. The Sopranos' Jamie-Lynn Sigler brings tradition.
The gangster genre will live on even after Martin Scorsese's The Irishman appeared to close the books on membership. Directed by Danny A. Abeckaser from a script by Jon Carlo and Joe Gilford, Mob Town dramatizes the infamous American Mafia summit of the late '50s. The film stars David Arquette (Scream), Jennifer Esposito, and Pj Byrne (The Wolf of Wall Street). But it is held together by Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who played Meadow, the daughter of New Jersey crime family boss Tony Soprano, played by the late James Gandolfini on The Sopranos.
Sigler is a Mafia princess. Her first film credit was in the 1998 indie gangster film A Brooklyn State of Mind, and she came into people's living rooms every Sunday night on the series which changed crime family programming forever.

Martin Scorsese's The Irishman contains a who's who of union racketeering gangsters. Here's who's who.
The Irishman, directed by Martin Scorsese, tells the story of a dedicated union man who bent some rules and broke some shoes. The film stars Robert De Niro as Frank Sheeran, the loyal teamster who did wet work on the side and executions for a price. Al Pacino plays Jimmy Hoffa, one of the jobs Sheeran confessed to doing. Joe Pesci plays Russell Bufalino, an influential Philadelphia mob boss. These are all historic figures who have made appearances on newsreels or televised witness testimonials.
The Irishman is loaded with real mob history and any gangster film aficionado will love it, but you may need a brush up on some of the players. We've already discussed some of the hits and misses Sheeran took in his career, but here are the guys who populated his neighborhood.

We’ve got a trailer for you to check out today for Mob Town, the true story about the meet up between the heads of the mafia that took place in 1957 in upstate New York. The film stars David Arquette, Jennifer Esposito, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Pj Byrne, and Danny A. Abeckaser (The Irishman) who directed the film as well.
Here’s a brief synopsis:
The FBI and a local cop track various members of organized crime families as they gather for a huge meeting in upstate New York in 1957.
The basis for the story sounds intriguing, but something about the execution of this movie falls a little flat. I watched the trailer twice, thinking I had missed something, but I didn’t. I like the cast, and feel like they had a lot to work with, so I don’t know what the problem is, but maybe it will translate better in the full film.

Maybe you've heard about the mob movie that's inspired by true events? Maybe you know that it draws inspiration from a book that details an unprecedented meeting of reputed Mafia leaders in upstate New York in 1957? Well, this isn't Martin Scorsese's ambitious, sprawling The Irishman, opening later this week for a limited run in theaters. Instead, this is Mob Town, directed by Danny A. Abeckaser, which focuses entirely on the fateful meeting of crime-family leaders in the late 1950s. The real events, covered in the book I Heard You Paint Houses -- which inspired The Irishman -- have also been covered in other books. In this version, the great Robert Davi plays crime boss Vito Genovese, who calls the meeting. The star of the...

"There is a network for organized crime running in & out of this area." Saban Films has debuted an official trailer for an indie drama titled Mob Town, the latest film made by actor / director Danny A. Abeckaser. It tells the story about the famed meeting of the heads of the Mafia in 1957 in upstate Apalachin, NY, during which a local cop went after 62 mobsters. "One cop faced off against the mob and changed law enforcement forever." This stars David Arquette, Jennifer Esposito, Danny A. Abeckaser, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, and Pj Byrne. This looks like a "dramatic" Asylum rip-off of The Irishman, or any other mobster movie, with some seriously bad acting and nothing of interest to offer us besides "look, the Mafia is in town!" Ugh. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Danny A. Abeckaser's Mob Town, direct from YouTube: A story about the prominent meeting of the Mafia heads in 1957 in upstate Apalachin,...

Jennifer Esposito is to star alongside Gary Oldman in supernatural thriller 'Mary.'
The "NCIS" and "Blue Bloods" actress will play a character named Lydia in the independent feature, according to sources close to the production.
The cast includes Oscar-winner Oldman and Emily Mortimer, with Michael Goi ("American Horror Story") directing from a screenplay by Anthony Jaswinski ('The Shallows'). It is set for release in 2019.
The story centers on a a struggling family that buys an old ship at auction with high hopes of starting a charter business, only to discover her horrifying secrets once in isolated open waters.
Esposito, who shot her scenes for the movie earlier this year, has raised issues of discrimination in recent weeks, claiming she has been overlooked for roles because she is Italian-American.
In a Facebook post, the actress said: "Have a question for my actor friends — ever get totally blocked by casting directors?
“In the last month, I was told I was not white enough for five different jobs... Not getting a job is one thing, but not even being allowed in a room to have an opportunity is another."
Esposito is also set to co-star with David Arquette in 'Apalachin,' a story about the famed meeting of the heads of the mafia in 1957 in New York state. Currently filming, a release is planned for 2019.
