Without the body
bkoganbing26 October 2018
That most difficult of feats is achieved by a prosecutor in this Darrow&Darrow film, Body Of Evidence. Conviction of Jordana Largy of the murder of her husband without a body. The DA did have the husband's blood on her clothes and on the boat that they were seen sailing out on.

However of all things a beat cop Michael Ainsley suspects something wrong and brings his doubts to the younger Darrow, Kimberly Williams-Paisley. She and her prosecutor adversary Tom Cavanaugh join forces to see if there's evidence enough to overturn her conviction.

That's usually the hardest thing to do because once that conviction is in the presumption of innocence is gone and the burden is on the defense.

I have to say I had part of it right, the rest was a bit of a shock. The two lawyers complement each other beautifully in performance. As for that officer, he's the kind that whatever police agency employs him he ought to have a quick mobile path up the promotion ladder but probably won't.

Enjoyable

This Hallmark film features Kimberly Williams-Paisley, Tom Cavanaugh, and Wendie Malick. With that lineup, how can you go wrong?

The crew thinks a woman convicted of murdering her husband could be innocent. When they look into the case, there is some damning evidence, but they find cracks in the case against the woman.

This is like a police procedural, but conducted by attorneys and after the fact, because the wife has been in prison for a year.

This is a light-hearted story, with all three leads providing humor. A fun watch.

Body of evidence

Claire takes the case of Laura Graham (Jordana Largy) who is arrested and then convicted for her husband Tom Graham's alleged murder after she herself reported him missing. It has been a year since the incident but her husband's body remains missing and when the case is brought to Claire, she begins suspecting if he died at all. Claire now seeks to overturn the murder conviction and is assisted by Laura's former lawyer Guy Hanson (Matthew Harrison) who suggests there may be no leads to follow. As Claire works to develop the defense's case, Miles goes through a period of questioning his career as the ADA, working for the prosecution. Meanwhile, Claire tries to downplay her growing personal relationship with Miles and Joanna strikes an unlikely friendship with Lou's baseball coach, Coach Reed.

A pleasant light mystery that is quite intriguing, complex, but the witty banter between the two lawyer protagonist is what makes this appealing. There's some good humour, and Wendy Malick steals the scene with her character and has some neat cutting remarks.

Darrow & Darrow Mysteries

I am liking all the episodes in this series. A lot! It's not complex mystery solving but there are enough twist and turns to keep it interesting. Plus the writing is funny and witty and the lead characters and stories remind me of those in "Thin Man" series of old. The series is well cast, well directed, and enjoyable. The plots are light and easy to follow which is a nice respite from the many many shock value, slap in your face shows out there these days. Looking forward to the next episode!

Can't wait to watch the rest of the series

This is the 3rd installment and this one will actually have you guessing who the suspect is. Two romances are in swing between Cavanagh & Williams-Paisley as well as Malick & McGillion. I can't wait to watch the rest of the series. No bad language or nudity. Everything is done tastefully. Great writing. Great family watching James Welch Henderson, Arkansas 12/30/2020
