Not even Bill Moseley or Bill Objects Jr could save his one!
Wikkid_Gamez6 October 2019
I know those 2 are both decent actors yet this movie was awful.... I did watch it till the end, though I did almost turn it off within the first 5mins as it was so obviously amateurish. But I went ahead and stuck it out as I was folding laundry and didn't feel like stopping to find something else to watch. The acting is the most horrifying thing about this one, other than that there isn't much to say... Saying it fell flat is an understatement, even saying that it was boring is not quite enough... I had a very hard time actually watching it and not just tuning it out and ignoring it. The overall concept has promise, but the end result was beyond mediocre. Film school project quality.

My Review Of "Devil's Junction Handy Dandy's Revenge"
ASouthernHorrorFan31 October 2019
Based on the synopsis, "Handy Dandy's Revenge" sounds like a fun, inventive splatter film. Individually each of the horror tropes actually explored in the film would, and should work fine. Unfortunately having killer puppet horror, supernatural occult mayhem and the added slasher elements combined does more damage than good. What we get is a jumbled mess of concepts with no logic or reason written into the story.

There really should have been someone on staff to maybe reign in Broadstreet's ideas. And of course do some background research and soundboarding of choices to see what works and what doesn't. A lot of what we see on screen doesn't work and nothing spoken by the characters justifies it. I didn't buy it anyway.

The acting is mediocre at best. Most of which comes down to underdeveloped dialog and exposition. Not even two iconic cast members are given enough to really elevate the viewing experience. I really don't think much about "Devil's Junction: Handy Dandy's Revenge" is understood by anyone attached to the project. And it shows with the quality of the movie we are presented with, I just didn't find it convincible.

Puppets, sinister Masonic motives and a large metal-headed killer in the tunnels could have been fun, gruesome entertainment. There just isn't cohesion or reasonable writing to explain why all of this exists in what should have been a low-budget horror about killer dummies and their evil master. Overall I was disappointed with "Devil's Junction: Handy Dandy's Revenge".

I've seen better performances from dolls from watching my little sister play with her Barbies
MikeHunt10757 October 2019
Step right up folks, and see how bad a film can be when your casting director wouldn't know talent if it rented space up their #$%.

Never heard of any of these actors? Suprise, suprise. They're all terrible. They're being out-acted by the terrible un-entertaining puppets of the film. Got a phobia of killer dolls? This film might cure it! if you can sit through the god awful, unrealistic acting performances of all the human characters in this.

The plot is about a group of friends who .... ah, WHO CARES. Don't bother with this movie that should win the 'worst performances by an entire ensemble cast' award for 2019. Don't even bother checking this out if it's free to watch.

Terrible
skye-richards5 October 2019
I had low expectations for this movie but hoped that it was somewhat Goose Bumps inspired but no. This is just another cheap shot at far superior writing material and an attempt to cover the damage with pretty woman and softcore nudity. My advice, don't waste your time on the awful script and the even worse acting of this movie.

Not as bad as some say.
cjfarley-6593920 October 2019
The movie isn't as bad as most of the reviews state. It's not great, but I've seen way worse. The acting isn't horrible, the effects aren't terrible, at least until the end. On the other hand, the script is weak. The ending was pretty bad. There isn't much in here that hasn't been done elsewhere and better. The characters were pretty stereotypical. There was the rich, popular guy, the jock, the nerdy scientific one (in this case a cute female), the shallow, sex-crazed guy, the dumb blonde model, and the tough girl. There was some time spent letting you get to know them. There were 3 that were halfway likable. But the final confirmation was lame and the ending was really, really bad. You could do worse, but you could also do better.

It definitely was no "Puppet Master"...
paul_haakonsen30 May 2020
Well, granted the synopsis of this 2019 movie, I can't really claim that I was particularly in much of any hurry to watch it. But then I saw that the movie actually had Bill Moseley on the cast list, and that definitely spiced it up for me and spiked my interest.

And now that I have seen "Devil's Junction: Handy Dandy's Revenge", I can't really claim that this was an impressive movie. It felt sort of like a knock off of the "Puppet Master" movies in a sense, for better or worse.

The storyline in the movie was adequate, taking into consideration the rest of the movie. However, this is by no means anywhere near Shakespeare, nor is it anything that will leave a lasting impression once the movie has ended. It was, in fact, a very generic horror movie that felt left over from the late 1980s.

It was a bit disappointing to find out that Bill Moseley merely had a supportive role in the movie. But truth be told, it felt like he wasn't even giving it 100%. Bill Oberst Jr., however, was actually quite nicely cast for the role of the character he portrayed. As for the rest of the cast, well it was essentially just faceless young talents portraying pointless characters.

The effects in "Devil's Junction: Handy Dandy's Revenge" was dubious at best. So don't get your hopes up for anything outstanding or extraordinary. And during the last scene of the movie I nearly spilled my drink, as it was so atrocious to behold and witness.

My rating of this movie is a mere three out of ten stars.

Puppet horror
BandSAboutMovies10 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Returning to the abandoned Detroit television station where they once delighted a generation of children viewers, master puppeteer Mister Jolly (Bill Oberst Jr., 3 From Hell) has brought his puppets back for one last battle with Richard Crane (Bill Moseley, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, Otis from the Rob Zombie movies).

This movie was shot in the abandoned studios of WJBK in Detroit, Michigan - the same place where Milky's Movie Party and Sir Graves Ghastly were filmed.

The battle between the evil ventriloquist and Richard gets more complicated when his son Steffen and his friends arrive at the studio on the night of a blood moon, just as Mr. Jolly unleashes his evil puppets, including Handy Dandy.

This all comes from Jeff Broadstreet, working under the pseudonym Roy G. Biv. Yes, the director of Night of the Living Dead 3D was so proud of this, he didn't use his real name.

There are dudes with sledgehammers wandering around. Masonic subplots. And a cast of disposable college kids ready to be offed. If anything, it looks better than your average direct to video film.

Nothing but wood and weird
nogodnomasters19 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Six people enter an abandoned studio building in downtown Detroit which once hosted the "Mr. Jolly and the Handy Dandy Show." Steffan Crane (Jake Red) 's dad (Bill Moseley) bought the building. It seems that Mr. Jolly (Bill Oberst Jr.) is not really dead and neither are the puppets. We find out that Doc (Danni Spring) works for Skynet and will one day bring down the human race.

We have seen the Puppetmaster thing done before. These puppets are better animated than some of the other puppet horror features, but the story line didn't make it real. The Masons? Seriously that is the best you got? Was that the real moon shining behind Bill Oberst Jr. as he points in the opposite direction at the blood moon?

Guide: F-word. Sex. Nudity (Cody Renee Cameron)

It's got it all!

What's not to like, ventriloquist dummies, an attractive cast. What am I saying? They had me at ventriloquist dummies. Murderous ventriloquist dummies. Clearly the director was working with a limited budget, but got the most out of his cast and crew. You want a good, fun horror movie? This is it.

Not Great But Not Terrible Either
ladymidath12 November 2022
To be honest, the saving grace of this movies are Bill Moseley and Bill Oberst Jr. That's about it. The movie itself isn't that bad but it does suffer from a low budget and poor acting from some of the cast.

The puppets don't look scary, they look rather silly. Puppet Master, Dolls and Dead Silence did it much better, even Demonic Toys. Given a bigger budget with better special effects, this could have been a good movie. It wasn't dreadful though, there were some pretty scary scenes in the beginning of the film, it was later when it just became silly rather than scary. The references to the Masons made me chuckle though as my father was a Mason for many years.

This isn't one of the best scary puppet movies, it's it's not the worse either.
