Johny Johny Yes Appa (Johny Johny Yes Dad) is two films sewn together so that it can call itself multi-genred: a comedy drama. Kunchacko Boban, in his sixth feature film appearance this year, is an anti-hero who uses his mischief and stealth to rob houses at night and assume the title of an idealistic at dawn. While I thoroughly enjoyed the drama - with a small potential suspense coming my way - thanks to Boban, Vijayaraghavan, Sharaf U Dheen, Kalabhavan Shajon, and Tini Tom performing their acts pretty decently, what comes after the petty family drama is what shifts the focus in Johny Johny Yes Appa from a family comedy to romance (it has Anu Sithara playing a puppet girlfriend, by the way) into a dark drama that does not sit well together. It is like the film develops half a dozen characters in the first act, then goes and develops another half in the second act, and then finally tries to mix them up. Doing so not only disturbs the characterization but also takes out the fun from the proceedings, which is exactly what happens in the climax. Save for a few jokes (dubbing fillers) by Dheen and Boban and some relatable sequences about family life, there is nothing much to see in G Marthandan's Johny Johny Yes Appa. Watch it, if you are a fan of family comedies turning into gimmicky emotional dramas, when it premieres on TV and if movies on other channels are worse than this. TN.

The movie barely fits in its genre. The cast is very strong. The direction and screenplay is good. The dialogues is ok. Comedy scenes aren't that great. First half is the fun part and 2nd an emotional one. Its definitely a one time watchable movie. Overall above average

It's alright

Compared to the other Kunjchacko movies this actually had something to watch. The screen command of Sharafudeen is what carried the movie for me personally. Other than that our usual Kunjchacko movie. I want to know how Kunjchacko survives so long with mediocrity. It's a good thing he's cute I suppose.

Nonsensical movie

This movie is not worth your time , it is one among the worst malayalam movies released recently. Most of the things happening in the movie does not make any sense at all, it feels like a wonderland were the actors can do whatever stupid thing and the viewers would not care about it in the least bit.

Kunjakko Bobans portrayal of the character is not at all bad but the story around his character is really stupid and does not entertain at all. Tini tom, Sharaffudhin .. etc were totally atrocious their acting capability were truly deteriorated in this movie and it was totally irritating for me , things done woth objective of making the audience laugh turned out to test the patience of them, it was one of the most unfunny performance of these actors in their career.

The entirely different first half and second half of the movie also caused me headache, the writer might have written these two parts of the story in two timeline of years apart i think , it felt like the movie completely changed after the interval. There is nothing to talk about the climax apart from it is one of the most cliched and worst climaxes ever in the mollywood.

Last word for you readers : Avoid at all costs!

It's one of the worst movie I had seen in malayalam. Most scenes are predictable throughout.
