Really, really, really slow. Really.
timothygartin5 February 2019
This is a typical trapped alone thriller. It isn't a horror movie at all. I also would not call it found footage. The video surveillance is actually irrelevant to what takes place. There is a predictable twist at the end but overall, the movie is better than a stick in the eye.

Why are they doing this?
nogodnomasters11 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
George and Alanna go to a cabin in the woods, one that has voyeur cameras set up. The couple has issues as she is going away to school....has another boyfriend there, and had an abortion. The snoop also has access to her cell phone data and baits her.

What could be better than to combine a Cabin in the Woods film with live cams? Just like chocolate and peanut butter. This was no Reese's Cup. They combined pretend characters we didn't like with a boring movie. Why would you set up a shower cam pointed at the head? What kind of voyeur does that?

Guide: F-word. Brief sex. Partial nudity.

Worst found footage since 388 Arletta Avenue
ibledblue-4464610 October 2018
I'm a very valid horror movie critic who judges very fair, as I myself am an upcoming indie horror director. Found footage is hands down my favorite subgenre within the horror genre and, in my opinion, it is also the most effective subgenre. I usually always think every found footage movie is at least decent in,its own way. It is rare that I say a found footsge movie is awful. Afraid suffers from severely amateur directing, and an extremely low budget. The two main characters are hollow and overall unimportant. The acting is very bad and the story goes absolutely no where. No one even dies.... Supposedly the landlord is the bad guy but that too is never actuslly developed. Usually found footage movies have a good last 10 to 20 minutes. This movie was so boring until the last frame. Horrible horrible movie made for no reason. Horrible director. Horrible everything. Its a joke

Real Hidden Camera Psychological Thriller
jg-893499 July 2019
This is a psychological thriller...to see what can happen when someone rents a home to a couple puts very malicious behavior on display. It was so realistic in the setup that anyone who rents a home to unknowing people can not only spy but use their personal information against them. Definitely not your average film has more to do with sick obsessions and a completely different way to explore the plot of what's going on inside the world of an existing relationship. The hidden camera rules were held together throughout the entire film and never crossed the line for the sake of fiction. Smart twist at the end of the film that we did not see coming.

TOTALLY FRESH AND DIFFERENT
ScoreHaus8 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
What's most unique about this film is it's ability to actually tell a different kind of story in a totally fresh way. It's nothing I've ever seen before. I'm a sucker for a modern psycho-thriller and this little movie really packs the punch I was looking for! What I surprisingly found most compelling was the sadistic love triangle that catapults the film to another level. With so many technological advances in the modern age, it makes you think twice about the possibility of this actually happening to you. It slowly creeps into your psyche until it's got your mind gripped in terror. Definitely worth viewing and discussing with friends.

Really shook me to my core
jamieb328 July 2019
Wow, this movie really stayed with me after I was done watching. This is not a horror film, it is more of a hidden camera psychological thriller that does a really good job making you feel as uneasy and terrified as the characters. The director is known for his hidden camera expertise; there's not many people who can execute this kind of narrative, and he does a good job making it feel really believable and unsettling. The character development was strong and I really felt for the couple. The metaphors about co-dependency in toxic relationships seen by way of the thriller genre is really effective and definitely makes you think about the price of trauma.
