Muddled
anthonyjlangford5 October 2019
This episode wasn't PC preachy which the last one began to show signs that that was how the series was heading. Thankfully it doesn't appear to be the case.

While it does look like there may be a new storyline opening up with Chester, the supernatural aspect just isn't working for me. I don't find it particularly interesting or scary or anything really. You just seems a bit silly. I'm afraid I've given this season 3 eps and while it may improve, I just feel it's too muddled and not interesting enough for me to invest any more time in. A great shame as the first season was outstanding. At least there was an effort here to do something different and you have to give the producers credit for that. However I think it's a gamble that will not pay off. I'm out from here.

A small correction

Warning: Spoilers
My family was held in the "camps" during WWII. My father served with the 442 but my mother had to go with my 4 and 2 year old brothers because they were 75% Japanese American. My Mom was 50% white and not required to go since the line drawn was "more than 50%" Japanese ancestry. This was in Washington State and I don't know if California was different. In some scenes it is said that 1% was all you needed to be incarcerated which is contrary to my personal experience.

I'm certainly glad to see this story finally addressing at least one of the many events in our history that we should acknowledge. Impressive selection of a recently "remembered" moment when America went crazy and ignored the single immutable Law of the Land. Prescient because of the things happening at our southern border.

This is supposed to be horror right?

Warning: Spoilers
Well I truly gave it a chance. The drama is not all that bad but being beset with constantly morose characters is just not that entertaining. The horror so far has encapsulated a whopping 1% of the season so far if that much. And 99% of that has consisted of a beautiful woman staring at the camera. Not much fright there. The other reviewer who stated there were frights must be spooked by leaf blowing in the wind. They should have just made a dramatic series about the interment and not beguiled viewers with horror expectations. Disappointing in the extreme.

I can't believe I would describe an episode of The Terror as boring...

But, this episode 3 was dull. So far the writing and editing has been all over the shop and the Chester/Luz thread is taking up far too much screen time. We (the GF and I) really hope the baby comes out a demon or something. Ultimately, so far, this season of The Terror is a mere mouses fart I'm comparison to season 1 which is really disappointing as we were so excited by the trailers for it.
