Fikani sticks his nose into other people's business. Willem encourages Amorey to make peace with the past and move on.

Amanda tells Justin he is Jasmine's father, but she refuses to let him hold his daughter. At the prison, Liefie has locked Natalie in the burnt-out cell, and the other inmates are cleaning the mess in the corridors. Liefie tells Vivian that 'Lips' had a heart attack during the fire. Vivian is frantic, but Liefie forces her back into her cell. Liefie throws a bucket of water over Natalie after she complains about her treatment. Liefie announces that all of the prisoners' concessions have been revoked, and they will be locked in their cells at all times.

At the Welman mansion, Chris is beside himself with worry after Liefie refused to let him see Mariaan. Rickus tries to reassure him. He questions Chris about the suitcase he was carrying the previous night. He lies that he was going to take a short break because of the stress. Alexa tells Chris and Rickus that Mariaan was unharmed. Chris rages that it was her fault that Mariaan was in prison to be put in danger in the first place. At the Clinic, Fikani tells Xander off the record that Bonita is safe and well. Xander doesn't want to see her, or for her to see Daniel, he thinks she will try to cause trouble. Fikani says that Daniel is able to go home later that day. He quizzes Xander about his closeness to Vanessa, and realises Xander is still in love with her.

Willem is pleased that Amorey is talking to Mariaan. Amorey says she was unreasonable. Willem is glad that Amorey is comfortable calling Mariaan 'Mum' again. He says he wishes he'd had the chance to spend more time with Herman. Amorey says they only need each other, everything else will sort itself out.

Liefie throws Emma and Bonita into the cell with Vivian, Mariaan and Dora. She tells them that Emma is no longer 'Sister Miems'. Vivian is still worried about 'Lips'. Liefie tells her to drop the act. Vivian is comforted by Mariaan. Liefie says Natalie is being kept in the burnt-out cell because the Hole is too comfortable for her. Emma warns Bonita not to admit to starting the fire, saying she'll be in prison for life otherwise.

Justin tells Amanda that he wants custody of Jasmine. Amanda says Jasmine will live with her in prison until she's two years old, then go to live with Amanda's parents. She tells Justin that she loves him, but he wouldn't make a good father. She doesn't trust him after the problems he's caused. He says he'll do everything he can to look after Jasmine. Amanda threatens to get him charged with kidnapping, as there is no proof he's the father. Xander tells Vince and Vanessa the news about Daniel, Amanda and Bonita. They speculate over what caused the fire. Vince notices a spark between Xander and Vanessa. She says it's all in the past, and they've just spending too much time together because of Daniel and Karmen.

In the prison, Liefie interrogates Bonita about the fire. She knows the truth, but Bonita continues to claim she can't remember anything. Liefie tells her the story of another inmate who committed suicide after her child died. Bonita says she wouldn't deliberately try to kill everyone in the prison. Liefie says there will be major trouble if the truth gets out.

Olivia returns from the book cruise. She lies to Diederik that she's been for a break in the Drakensberg to do some soul searching. She piles on the guilt, saying that she almost died from pneumonia. Diederik promises to be a better flatmate.

Bonita tells Emma that Liefie suspects everything. Emma tries to reassure her, saying that no-one was seriously injured, and Liefie should be more understanding because of Bonita's bereavement. Mariaan reveals Chris told her that Daniel is still alive. Bonita slaps Vivian awake, and makes her admit that she lied about Daniel. Bonita tries to kill Vivian. Emma screams for Liefie to help, but she refuses, saying she's done with talking. She tells Emma that Marko and Thinus came to visit, but she turned them away, no-one is allowed a visit until she decides otherwise. Emma bursts into tears, Vivian looks scared and Bonita gives Vivian a death stare.

Olivia and Rickus meet up and discuss their plan to guilt-trip Diederik. Olivia asks about Mariaan. Rickus says he doesn't want to visit her in prison again. Amanda decides to let Justin have custody of Jasmine, saying it will make up for the fact that he didn't get the chance to know his father Arnold. She gets excited talking about the happy life Jasmine will have. Amanda notices that Jasmine isn't breathing and feels cold. She screams for help.
