Intriguing.

A second mystery sees the team investigate the death of a groom, but the previous case is still hanging over the team.

Very good indeed, the serious tone continues. A clever mystery, a lot crammed in to forty five minutes. The antagonism between the two leads is terrific, as is the overhang of the first case.

Tori Allen-Martin is particularly good, not seen much of her, but a terrific actress, Billie has been the most interesting character so far.

Getting better!

Warning: Spoilers
So the story of the week was all over the place.

Let's see if I can list them all...a dead fiance, a father who was at his ex's fiance's bachelor party, a son who was very conflicted and confused, a soon-to-be wife who had no idea who her fiance really was, multiple babies by separate men, Tom's mother who wanted a watch she had given her dead son back, the usual bickering between team members of the crime squad and a trainee constable with an ethical conflict in the making.

While the story of the week took many twists and turns the over-arching story filled in some details. The watch that Tom's mother was looking for ended up on the hand of the original witness. I wonder just how that happened. I feel that we will be revisiting this detail later. Bradford and Cole seemed to have called a truce for the time being, while Trainee Fitzgerald is about to start something with the witness that may come back to bite her in the butt later on. The witness has been sketchy from the beginning. I wonder how she came to be in possession of Tom's watch.

Stag Night
Prismark102 July 2019
Complicated family relationships are central to this murder mystery when the groom is found dead outside a nightclub on his stag night.

The social worker, Jacob Holt who was with the dead man is the ex husband of the bride. His son who had an altercation with the victim quickly becomes a suspect. It seems the son found out something about his prospective stepfather's past.

Jacob Holt also knew DI David Bradford's missing wife as she was also a social worker. DS Vivienne Cole uses cunning to trap the killer.

However the events of episode one are not forgotten, the watch of the murder victim Tom Price went missing and it is worn by the woman who found his body.

Again I would question if this is a suitable drama for the early afternoon slot. This episode deals with the sexual grooming of a youngster.

A better episode as the police put aside their personal differences somewhat to work together.

There was a nice cynical gag when DI Bradford assures the bride that they will find her missing son. She later remarks he cannot even find his wife.

Pedestrian police procedural

Lightweight, routine and predictable murder case involving the death of a man on his stag night, the two main suspects are the fiancé's ex and their son. The bickering between Bradford and Cole has abated a little, but Cole is shaping up to be an unlikeable character with a massive chip on her shoulder.

There is a nod to the overarching plotline involving Bradford's wife, but no significant progress.
