This is a docu-drama based on the life of Maximilian Kolbe. Kolbe was born in Poland and received a message from the Virgin Mary while still a small child. He became a Franciscan priest who started a religious paper in Poland. The Germans occupied his country and shut down the paper. Kolbe was sent to Auschwitz and was there when ten prisoners were sentenced to death as punishment for a prisoner escape. One man cried out that he was a husband and father. Kolbe stepped forward and offered to take the man's place. His offer was accepted and he was placed in a cell with the other nine to starve to death. The guards injected him with carbolic acid to finish his life. Two Crowns is a powerful film and one worth watching.
