The Queen of 2018
edicionccq19 November 2019
I'm from Colombia, and this is one of the biggest gems that my country has created and the best use for reggaeton ever. Just 82 episodes were enough for developed the story of Yeimy Montoya and his revenge but this show is not exactly about that. La Reina del flow is about family, redemption and the search for happiness. The casting is very appropriate even though none of the leading characters are really singers but they are great with the lipsync. The acting is absolutely good, the twist in the show are so well made that you get surprised by the way that some stories are developed. The music is by far one of the most enjoyable aspects from this show. The songs are reggaeton but with undoubtedly clever lyrics and rhythms. This show is basically one of the most extraordinary productions that Colombia has ever offer to the world.

SO GOOD COULDN'T STOP WATCHING!
the_mora_family13 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The pilot was completely different to what typical spanish soapopera "tvnovelas" althought the main character is so self-center and cocky I just couldn't hate him. His acting was beyond good. I honestly enjoy ea character. Yeimi, Juancho, Gemma "La Princess", Axl, Erik, Irma, Vanesa and the one who make laugh every time with his sense of humor was Pite. I really want to see more of him in season 2. I want to see him sing!

Can't Stop Watching It
cuteteddyvicky10 December 2018
I started watching this a couple of days ago and I'm getting obsessed. Can't wait to come home everyday to start a binge, and before I know if each night its 2-3am! The story keeps you watching, I've never been into a telenovela but this storyline is like Count of Monte Cristo but the first episode was in prison like Orange is the New Black. I'll have to update when I'm done with series as I'm only on episode 18 and have like 64 more to go!

Telenovela but not the usual one...
kerryspirit9 February 2021
I am not a fan of Soaps usually or Telenovelas (which is the Spanish speaking kind) as I find them too flat. This one? I AM ADDICTED! First and a while in I was turned off knowing there are 82, yes 82 episodes wow but the more I got in the more I got drawn in. Wow totally exciting and it keeps you glued to it. So much that you do NOT want to stop watching but then at 2 am you GOTTA stop watching! Brilliant and highly addictive! Extra point? I get into my Spanish again :-)

Addictive
redtime211 December 2018
Very good. It's being a long time since a soap opera catches all aspects of life. You can identify yourself with some of the characters. It reminds me of EL CLON Brazilian version. Would like to see s 2nd season. Addictive to watch. Saw the entire series in 2 weeks. Awesome.

Not Your Usual Soap Opera
fflores-8306728 December 2018
I loved every moment of it. Most novelas have the expected twists and turns where producers add 30 episodes because something important was reallyyyy close to being disclosed but then wasn't. This is DIFFERENT and oh so much BETTER. Each episode adds to the story and the problems that arise are worth the episodes. Lastly, the acting is incredible and the songs extremely catching. Tons of emotions. Definitely worth a watch.

This show is quite addictive but it has it's flaws
micaml30 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This review contains spoilers for seasons 1 and 2.

Season 1:

I watched the first season in about 3 to 4 days. I have never watched a show with so many episodes. It was entertaining and it really introduced me to reggaeton music.

The best thing about this first season is the complex story and how every episode is filled with drama and music. The connection between Yeimy and Juan is so touching. Juan's loyalty and devotion to her makes him a loving character.

The worst thing is a couple of the characters were annoying, there was some bad acting and some songs were played repeatedly, which got annoying. I started getting a bit tired of hearing a few of Erik and Charly Flow's songs. Cris Vega's songs are awful.

The worst acting came from the actress playing Cata (Juancho's girlfriend who becomes his wife). She is an immature possessive person who acts like a teenage girl when things are not going her way.

She had no sympathy for Yeimy and what she had gone through over the years. Her acting and attitude are just as bad in season 2.

The older actors playing Yeimy and Charly were terrific. The way Yeimy works towards getting revenge on Charly was so good. It was like a light crime thriller and a daytime drama all in one.

Problems with the show:

You have to ignore the reality that Erik looks like Charly and no one pushed to find out how Manin managed to rescue and adopt this boy. Erik looks at an old picture of young Charly (both are played by the same actor) and does not wonder why he looks exactly like him.

Why did no friends, neighbors or Juan question if Charly could have been this boys father. I think it was mentioned once by Ligia who dismissed it immediately.

I spent most of season 1 feeling frustrated and mad with Ligia (Charly's mum), as she let her son Charly and then her adopted son be pushed around and manipulated by Manin. Also her lack of sympathy for Yeimy annoyed me too.

Manin is one of the best worst characters I have ever watched on Television. He is a heartless selfish monster and after a few episodes I just wanted him to die painfully. The actor does a great job playing this vile character but he is hard to watch.

How can you send a teenage girl to jail, kill her whole family and steal her baby. When she survives and comes back seeking revenge, you say she ruined your life. Manin had no life, hiding out with low life criminals and drinking all day. He lives in some sick warped universe.

I never understood Manin's goal. He wants a family but abuses and bullies them. He expects loyalty and respect from them and his gang but he is not loyal or respectful to anyone. He threatens and kills anyone who does not do what he wants.

I think the ending of season 1 was good and I did not feel like this show needed a second season.

Season 2:

Good things about season 2 are:

1. The songs are better than season 1. Yeimy's songs are terrific. I loved 'Mi Destino', what an incredible song. '7 Vidas' is another great song.

2. The chemistry between Charly and Yeimy is undeniable but I did not expect them to end up together.

The redemption of Charly is incredible. Somehow, the actors managed to show how an obsessive and toxic relationship can end up being a true love story, with twists and turns.

3. Juan's son Emilio was sweet and his acting was good. His bond with Yeimy was beautiful.

4. I love Erik's bond with his Yeimy. Erik is such a sweet guy who was born into such a sad situation.

5. Mike (Grey shark owner) was a terrific low life money hungry character who made me laugh. The way he sipped that drink all day and found ways to scheme everyone was entertaining. I was looking forward to his downfall.

The worst things about season 2:

1. Cata, I wished they had written this character out of the show. They force her into scenes because she has no storyline. Why would she date an immature boy like Cris Vega? Cris Vega too. He sings the same tired songs, his acting is bad and he does not develop in 2 seasons

2. Manin, he lived too long. I would have liked to see him die by episode 20. I got fed up of him spewing hatred for Yeimy every episode. He deserved to rot in a cold prison cell in the middle of nowhere. That would have been the perfect ending for me.

3. Where is the security in this show? No bodyguards, no security gate around Yeimy's house, no security guard on the door of Surround vibes. Erik is a well known singer in season 2, who has toured the world. So where is the security to make sure no one can just walk into Surround Vibes office? They leave themselves exposed to criminals like Manin and really they could have been seriously hurt or killed at any point.

4. I laughed for ages at Manin's gang. They are comical and weird. Caronte's voice and demeanor where just as weird and funny as Lucio's. He should have been Lucio's brother, not Titano.

Overall the show is enjoyable to watch.

The best Novela to date!
fatimacantos16 December 2021
Could not stop watching! Yes it's a little extra and maybe not for everyone, but if you are into telenovela with a modern tasteful twist in the Latin music scene - this is your show! I loved the music (listen to it on Spotify all the time) the cast and the story! Ugh I need more!!!!!!

Stop after the fist season.

The first season was fun to watch - I liked the music and the plot was decent. The second season had no plot and I couldn't get past 2 episodes, and I really wanted to like it-

Excruciating
the_aero2312 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The show is at first your generic telenovela and has nothing special going for it. They try to make up for this, by introducing elements of a musical. Since it's plot is a mess along w/ terrible acting and dialogue, it thinks it makes up for it with the music. It doesn't.

The music is bad on its own, but its so overplayed throughout the show it actually becomes painful to listen to. This is what takes your average cheesy telenovela, into becoming just one of the worst tings on Netflix. I feel for anyone who isn't hispanic, and thinks this is what we enjoy. We don't, this is bad and shameful to know is what's representing our corner of the world. I don't understand how something this bad has made such a buzz. This is on par with bad Daytime soap operas, yet is treated as more. Sorry guys, don't recommend this in the slightest.

Loved it so much!!

Honestly addicting. Helped me learn spanish. Its funny, dramatic, and really good. Surprised that there were not a lot of plot holes, maybe one. Other than that, they tied things together very nicely. The characters all are very dynamic. 10/10 would recommend. Even if you don't like telenovelas at first it's worth a watch!

Mostly Good
conorpp-9722421 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Enjoyed it until the DEA part ended. Then the plot started to deteriorate. Loved the characters and locations. Loved the music mixed in with drugs, gangsters, frame ups, love triangles and revenge. Everything that makes for a good series. But after Tammy gets her freedom, I really felt that the plot started to deteriorate and the writers just seemed to make things up as they went along. Mindless stupidity. Gema is murdered and they have the funeral and cremation the next day!!! This would not happen. Autopsies are mandatory in Colombia after a murder. 2 days at least and more likely 3. Juancho is married, but his hands are permanently all over Tammy. I mean non stop. Its not even romantic or cute. Its just nauseating. It actually made my skin crawl. He is one of the most annoying characters I've ever watched. His acting is terrible. Any time Tammy rings, he jumps up and runs out on his wife or whoever he happens to be with. Tammy leads him on and gets him to hide things from his wife and also to lie to her and then she says that she doesn't want her happiness at the expense of other peoples happiness. This really detracts from the strong woman bent on revenge image that made such a great character. The worst thing about the last 40 episodes is that the writers fall back on the sad old trick where the plot can only advance because the main characters tell lies and hide information from their friends "to keep them safe or so they wont worry". This of course leads to misunderstandings, confusion as well as friends being offended when they discover they are being lied to and drags the plot on because no one has all the information. The writers also conveniently forgot that Tammy had many pictures of Charly and Lucio together (provided by the private detective) which demonstrated their connection and would have helped prove her innocence. And so it goes on.

Columbian Obsession
beryldavis26 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The Queen of Flow appearing on Netflix is about revenge, and obsession with getting revenge. I was obsessed with Charly in his youth and Charly Flow seventeen years older. I was obsessed with the relationship of Charly and Gema, the good, bad, and indifference in it. I was obsessed with the budding relationship of Xiemey and her son Erik. Younger Juancho and his relationship to his siblings is very touching. I spent the first ten episodes obsessing if Charly Flow and Erik were one and the same. not really satisfied that they were one and the same actor, I spent the next ten episodes obsessing if Charly in his youth and Erik were the same actor, I was satisfied. Kudos to casting. I wish that they could of brought younger Xiemy back into the cast in another role to extend her acting abilities. I liked the writing and the music of this series. What is it that keeps me from giving this 82 episodic series a 9 instead of a 10. Younger Charly/Erik/Mateo, we got a good glimpse of what younger Charly was and as older Charly that personality was in full bloom. I assume the role of Erik was to be everything his biological dad (Charly) wasn't which gave us and the role of Erik nothing. First he wore glasses, then we always saw him in a hoodie taking away his facial features and golden locks. It may have been a way to pay homage to his young mother Xiemy, who was also seen wearing the hood of her sweat jacket over her head, but I really needed Erik to exude sex appeal from the rim of his glasses to the bottom of his sneakers and to have more meaningful lines with a range of emotions, the writers didn't give that to him. The writers failed Gema badly at the end, when Xiemy kept trying to get the police to go after Charly Flow for white collar crimes instead of murder, which she witnessed, not the actual murder but the bruising on Gema's neck and Gema herself said Charly did that to her but Xiemy did not inform the police. Gema's current love interest who was there and broke up the fight between Gema and Charly Flow did not say a word either to the police, sad take on domestic violence.

Its like a modern Count of Monte Cristo (spoilers only in second half of review)
misselissa20 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
If edmond dantes was a modern, musically inclined columbian woman you would have Yeimy Montoya. And now that i type that, i find it even more ironic how close monte and montoya sound. Lol However this is definitely a fresh take on the classic tale of the deepest kind of betrayal and the determined revenge that follows. I often find that its hard to live up to a classic such as the count of monte cristo, but this series definitely holds its own. I practically became a usless bum because of how addictive it was. If a second season were to ever be made, i have no idea how they can top this first season. There is alot of really good music. Some of it feels a little overplayed though. There are a few minor plot holes that came up, but they were far and few between and probably don't matter much.

spoiler alert ahead:

One was that Zulma never found out that Yeimy was the one that took the scandalous video of her and Charley. Perhaps Yeimy didn't have the guts to tell her, but i kind of wonder what would have happened if she had ever found out. I also don't exactly understand who the baby was at the very end. Was it yeimy and juanchos boy? Juancho and catas baby? Or did erik and irma have a baby? It didn't really clarify that. I would have also liked to know how many years Charley got in the end. There may have been a few other plot holes, but i I don't really recall them, so it must have not mattered much.

Terrible Ending!
marshardorbda12 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I loved the first three quarters of the series but the ending was horrible. I know the morale of the story is "forgiveness" but it could have been stipulated in a way whereby Quancho did not have to be emotionally hurt in the end. Charlie deserved forgiveness because he had changed, but he did not deserve to end up with Yeimy. It was so devasting for Quancho. The ending upset me greatly! I have to continue to remind myself they are actors and actresses. Will there be a third series; if so, I hope you show Quancho doing much better and Charlie and Yeimy's relationship deteriorating to the point that it is ruined. Terrible ending!

Absolutely Brilliant!
bnnhymq17 August 2022
I started watching out of curiosity and this telenovela became an addiction. The cast is phenomenal especially Charly Flow! This guy belongs in Hollywood. What an amazing actor. He completely stole the show but can't say enough about Yeimy and Juancho as well. So good we are watching both seasons all over again. Addictive and so impressed with this Colombian telenovela.

Immoral Show
muerteb22 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
First off anyone who supports this soap opera is not a parent at all, Brainwashing a daughter to turn their own father in and considering it justice is a new form of low, i don't know how things are viewed in Columbia but if this is their idea of a joke america's isn't laughing and seriously 17 years federal lockup for a columbian mule ha ha ha don't make me laugh i know its a soap opera but add some reality to your show that would never happen. I muscled my way through to the end with my spouse but i will tell you now there will not be a second season unless that season is portraying charly going after yeimy and becoming the killer she made him become otherwise not gonna happen period. This show crossed so many boundaries when it came to children crosses their parent's rule and disrespecting them, as i've said before if this is how Colombians view family life its not funny at all. Reality check if you wanted to have yeimy go after charly fine but don't even make her look like a saint she destroyed family's and a lot of lives to get her so called justice which in all reality was (revenge) and ended up using innocents to do it. So in conclusion there wont be a second season aired in America sorry but americans don't need to see disrespect portrayed so heavily toward parents from their children.

I loved until ...
monicaconley-5605615 April 2024
I have loved this novela; however, Yeimi Montoya's fight with Charlie is getting old. Just irritating as f¥c$ and it feels like Juancho is afraid to stand up to Yeimi for fear of being rejected. Yeimi's feels the savior of everyone. I loved her character but now not so much. The actors are great, Charlie is one of my favorites, he's amazing. It is an entertaining show novela, but it's losing its appeal with Yeimi's out of control fight for justice. Justice will be served but it isn't by Yeimi, her ego is bigger than her. She's a manipulator but portrayed herself as a fighter for justice. It's getting old this show 😩

Don't Get Fooled
thegreatcheesycheese6 January 2022
Don't get fooled like I was by this show's interminable presence in Netflix's Top 10. I should have trusted my instincts when I resisted it for several weeks. It's more-or-less a trashy Colombian Soap Opera that has a decent start but goes downhill - and to no where - very fast. Don't waste your time.

ralhamid-8822421 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Amazing season 1! I was hooked for majority of all 82 episodes. Great story and actors and actresses were amazing! Glad it is on Netflix.

Just wish in season 2 they did not have to change the storyline to reverse the romance for Yiemy to go back to Charly. Really enjoyed seeing Juancho and Yeimy together because it felt right. Would've gave it a 10/10 if it weren't for that reason.
