Amazing Episode could've been executed a bit better

Warning: Spoilers
I found this episode really interesting but I feel the school's situation was rushed. I loved every moment of it. The only thing that disappoints me is that with Hope Mikaelson's sacrifice and everyone forgetting she ever existed, the director's in a way cut off ties with the remaining Mikaelson's (Freya, Rebekah and Kol) and Marcel Gerard. I can see where the show is going though. They would not kill Hope off that easily and she might even end up with Rafael in the next season. But hands down, beautiful acting. Would love to see more episodes like this one in the future.

loopholes
carolina_sweetheart8 April 2019
It sure would be nice, considering this finale is about loopholes, that next season they figure out a loophole to bring hope nic and eli back into this show because I still miss the originals. It seems with vamps, werewolves and witches no death is ever permanent.

I hope they find a way to fix this

Warning: Spoilers
I really liked the episode, alot of interesting stuff goin on all the way, but I really hope to find a way to reverse that noone knows Hope ever existed. As others have said I feel like that would be kinda bad too. They cant just erase her and start over, that would go all of season 1s character development go to waste.

And yeah, it would be sad if Hope family coulnt remember her any longer, but I guess as long as they bring none of the Mikaelsons back it wouldnt really matter for the show.

Great finale! Didn't see the ending coming. There's so many ways for this to pan out! As already stated in another review, what about the family? It's one thing for the school to forget Hope, but what about Freya, Rebekah, et al.... Would love to see Hope with Raf or what's his name vampire that returned for the dance. Will she remember everything or will she also have no memories? Maybe he will recruit her to the school etc. So many different storylines to explore now. I'm just glad s2 was announced. I didn't want to wait. October is so far away!

Warning: Spoilers
First of all, i'm not one to hate on anything but some things just has to be called out. This review contains spoilers from the episode so you have been warned.

The acting throughout the season is great, there is a lot of talent here and I was impressed many times but at the same time in my personal opinion I feel that they put way too much focus on the ''teen high school love drama'' part more than an actual interesting story and when push comes to shove in this finale where everything should be headed towards intense fights and satisfying conclusions, everything just falls flat.

Why has every single supernatural creature become weakened to all hell? In the Vampire Diaries and the Originals we have multiple times witnessed the power of Witches, Vampires and Werewolves. One vampire was enough to subdue or kill at least 10 people by him/herself. One witch is capable of putting a multitude of people into sleep or snap their necks by a snap of their fingers and yet in this finale it felt like the vampires did absolutely nothing except throw a few slowmotion punches and MG just slowly walks towards a gun the whole fight, even after the fight he just stands there while the guard pulls a gun on him but likes to monologue instead of pulling the actual trigger.

Then we have the witches and they are plenty but the most a whole group of them was able to do was turn guns into roses and one witch threw what looked like a stink bomb in one of their faces. My point is that this whole siege should have been over in like 10 seconds once the anti magic fountain was deactivated.

Then we come to the final scene and this is an issue i've had with Hope the whole season, why is she suddenly a martial artist who can fight hand to hand with big monsters but then get herself in trouble when she could have just disintegrated them with her actual magic powers? They seem to have forgotten that thanks to her lineage she is one of the most powerful witches alive but rarely uses her magic and when she does it's a weak push back spell.

The episode clearly showed her stopping the knife from falling into Malivore by using magic but then when she gets a hold of it, instead of putting it in her pocket she places it by a window where anyone can come and get it and guess what, that's exactly what happens. So when the bad guy from nowhere shows up, grabs the knife, gets Hopes attention by standing there talking and then proceeds to throw the knife once more into Malivore, Hope suddenly forgot she is able to catch it and stands there screaming noooo. Like.... what?

All i'm seeing are praises for this finale and of course everyone is entitled to their own opinions but I cannot fathom how anything remotely positive can come near this episode. Oh and the huge twist ending? We have seen this a 100 times before and especially on CW shows, all of that is gonna be solved by the end of S2 EP1. It's called a ploy to get people to come watch the next episode.

The only thing I can give credit to is the acting, I just wish the writers could put them to better use and give them some actual interesting material to work with.

Thanks for reading and sorry for the long review.

Seriously?
basedeggs14 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
And this being one of the Highest Rated episodes I was super confused to come and check that everyone was just OK with what they watched. I mean... My biggest complaint is Hope coming to save Landon from the Knife falling in, uh but then his Brother comes along after killing the main Monster and he tosses the knife in. So what- Hope just saves the knife the first time, but not the second time when she had more then enough time to do so? She just stands there like a damsel in distress. P-l-o-t-h-o-l-e I mean it's a Teen show but Come on. It's not just this, it seems the Monsters have become so weak as time has gone on. And its just so boring. Maybe its just me but Hope is such a boring, sensitive character. And this Plothole just made me crawl in my skin. I mean, how did she even get to Malivore so quickly? Lizzie is as usual insufferable and Josie who is just too pure forgives her without any real conflict in my opinion. She was clearly going to be fine and you never feel a sense of worry that she will die in this episode. It's just a dumb way to stitch up there relationship.
