It's a little amazing that an instrumental piece by Elton John got a music video for it since instrumental songs hardly ever get one of those
made, specially back in the day when clips weren't so popular. No complaints, in fact it's fun to leave some words for it in this place.
This one we can definitely say we're only in it for the music since there isn't much of a highly memorable visual. It's simply Elton behind the piano performing the soothing track. It definitely serves to calm us down, go with the flow of his keyboard and the few other instruments played, just as much Elton flew on a reflective state related with mortality, as he later wrote on the sleeve notes from his album "A Single Man". For those who don't know the story it comes one of those twisted coincidences of life and hence the name of the song, dedicated to a record company messenger boy named Guy Burchett tragically killed on a motorcycle accident, on the exact same day as Elton was writing the song. With the news of Guy's passing, the title came along.
Again, it's the song that sells the video due to its peaceful, quiet and lovely melodies - despite the dark matter that inspired Elton's compisiton, one can fly away with imagining countless of other things or scenarios. A great proof that shows that Elton can go beyond the lyrics of Bernie Taupin, a true musician who can bring heart and soul into a magnificent piece. 8/10.
