Scott Collins (MeatLiquor Guy) is the Worst
aagriffinesq20 August 2020
I enjoy food show such as Ugly Delicious, etc. I binged this series a couple of years ago and recently binged the second season. I agree with some of the other reviews take that 1) the lack of investment was frustrating; and 2) that the investors who did invest often made the "wrong" choice (to my mind at least). Oh well... "whatever."

After suffering through his banality for two seasons however, I felt compelled to write this review to call out Collins in particular for his thoroughly transparent disingenuousness. Time and again it's clear that he has no interest in investing in anyone. Rather, his primary interest seems to "peep folks' game" in hopes of ripping off their ideas to implement in his own joints.

Two glaring examples arise within the first few episodes of season one. The young cat from Trap Kitchen had a huge IG following from word of mouth, neighborhood love, street cred and cooking in his Mama's flat. Collins was like Snidely Whiplash constantly asking about "How'd you get so many IG followers"? "Tell me the secret sauce of getting more social media love". I half expected him to say: "Hey man, I'm not going to help you but would you mind helping me to steal some of yours"? 😂

I sensed a similar vibe from him with respect to the (again) rather young and naive Shrimpwreck guy. You could practically see the cartoon balloon over Collins' head thinking "Hmm... I'll ask this sucker kid about his supply chain, costs, etc. and add his two signature sandwiches to my own burger joints. Lame.

Lack of investment
miguelalvaradoabarca17 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The concept of the show is good, great for entrepreneurs and food lovers, however the show is kind of slow and Same scenes in all episodes , so I liked to watch but I advance the episode to see only a few parts, for example where the investors arrived to the restaurant and critic de food.

Also a down side is that there is more lack of investment scenarios, than investment itself. How come in a episode neither of the owners had any investment, they should have at least record more to at least have something more to show.

Interesting stories of the business of restaurants
jrc-7235714 September 2023
I enjoyed it, especially season #2 when they changed the format a bit. That change of format to where they required multiple hopefuls to vie for a singular chance to go to Manchester was superior in my view. Focusing on a single restaurant in Manchester created more human interest and a focused approach. The host, Fred Sirieix, was a delight, and Fred brought much knowledge, enthusiasm, and what seemed to be a real interest in seeing these young chefs succeed, whether or not an investment resulted on the show. Sorry to see that there were not more seasons. With the new format, I thought it had a good chance to succeed.

Very enjoyable to watch.

I must admit that I didn't watch this series at the 1st glance. Yet I got obsessed to watch it whole in once after clicking the 1st episode.

Reality contest show is not really my jam since I hate how ranking works in most of contest show.

This one is much better - - either you get investment or you don't. Simple.

It's cruel for sure that sometimes a very great pop-and-mom's kitchen-styled take away tried to get their fund but in vain. Yet that's how the capital market works.

I really have a good time watching this and I am really looking forward for next season (if any).

3 to 6-mth Flash-Forward Recommended
avocalembrace11 July 2020
The show's current format leaves the viewer without a "where are they now" follow-up once the deal is agreed upon between the investor and the potential business owner(s) which is a bit underwhelming for the last scene. A 3 to 6-mth follow-up at the restaurant's new digs would be an even higher note to end on following the Champagne toast.

one of my favorite shows
bubbajoe-369654 September 2019
I looked forward to season 2 of million pound menu and it did not disappoint. So much so that I took the next 2 hours googling the all the restaurant concepts to see where the ended up after the show. i think million pound menu needs to add an episode of where all the the restauranteurs ended up and if they did realize their dream of opening a restaurant and how well they are doing

I would arrive for this show.

The show is promising but the lack of investments makes the show uninteresting. I understand not all should get an investor but in a show you need excitement.

Superb show. I dont understand the criticism. Far more interesting than Masterchef
adibhatt953 November 2020
Let me making something clear: this show is for people who enjoy both Shark Tank and Masterchef. It is a perfect mixture of the two. Every idea isnt going to be invested in , just like Shark Tank, and its a lot more interesting because you learn about the business side of restaurants and creating businesses out of them.

It is a must watch and really makes you use your own brain while watching it (would I invest in this idea?) that alone makes it more engaging than Masterchef.

Loved it! Binge watched all episodes on Netflix
boself25 August 2018
I absolutely enjoyed this show so much and told friends about it. Although I am a vegan myself and I watched a lot of meat being cooked, it was enjoyable to see the passion, enthusiasm and craft(wo)manship of the people who are dreaming of their own restaurant or chain of restaurants. I also learned a lot about the millennial and Instagram generation and how sometimes we need a whole other perspective on things and food. I loved the input of skilled females on both the judges/ investor side and the chefs site. This show deserves a way higher rating than the 6,2 it has now.

Interesting idea, but..
kim-djerf14 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
There's too many episodes where the contestants doesn't get the investment which is really what the show is all about, which makes me feel I've just wasted another hour on something that turned into nothing. They could easily have made more episodes in advance and picked out more ideas that actually made it.

Wrong Choice, Every Time
SamUnfiltered197918 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
So, the first episode, Epoch and Shrimp Wreck. You could tell that it was biased to make Epoch, run by two nasty, self centered women the winner. The one lady was just contemptible. She told one person who she thinks is "Under Her".....To..."Don't touch me" even tho she had her hands all over him. Their food was gross, they didn't even remember a fork or knife, yet they won. I think the investor just wanted to sleep with them because it was not invested in for the service or food. The poor guy from Shrimp Wreck had a REAL plan and REAL food that is marketable to all and not snobby big plates with a little in the middle. Shame on this show and I will not watch another season.

Rated TVMA on Netflix ??
brianevansgbo13 June 2020
Parental settings keep me from watching it. Seems like a ploy from Netflix to unlock your TVMA settings to watch any and all filth. As a foodie, I would like to watch it, but not if it's loaded with filthy language and or sexual content. I've yet to find anything that would indicate why it's rated TVMA.

Probably very helpful for the young entrepreneurs
ersbel26 September 2018
The show is probably very helpful for the young entrepreneurs. And for that alone would be worth continuing it. But for the viewer it is junk. It is slow. It cheats with cheap artifice: just moving to the second reel once something is about to happen. And the French accent of the main guy, please!

So the show has potential. But it is such a disappointment! One does not get how the recipes are done. Fair enough, maybe the cooks don't want to. One does not get the ins and outs of the restaurant business. Maybe there is also a reason for that. And the list goes on. There are a lot of things that one does not get. And losing half an hour of vague entertainment is no gain either.

Honestly it's so boring, every episode is exactly the same to be honest. Interesting concept.
