Former county constable Kaarlo Ahola has been found dead with a message pinned to his dead body. The message is directed at Lauri and Sanna. They reluctantly return to Varjakka to investigate.

Another body has been discovered with an accompanying message. Leena has finally agreed to see Ida. An old investigation is resurrected.

There are now three deaths, and the detectives still aren't sure how they're connected. Sanna believes Lintola is hiding something. Leena asks her daughter to deliver a message.

Not all have nightmares, but everyone is haunted. Lauri discovers Sanna's secret and he tracks down a suspect - Leena's boyfriend.

Lauri finds the missing fruit pickers, but he's intensely worried about Sanna. Vital pages have vanished from Ahola's files. Did Ahola rip them out or has someone else tampered with them?

Another suspect is discovered. This time, Lauri is convinced that he has the right person. A raw confession reveals a terrible truth.
