Unclaimed Baggage

Manifest's "Unclaimed Baggage" helps put into focus what kind of series this is. One that promises to deliver great storylines, but does so at an excruciatingly slow pace. This wasn't the worst episode we've seen so far, and there was a little bit of action and drama to keep the ball rolling, but it certainly wasn't the most exciting or engaging hour of television I've seen.

I'm beginning to accept "Manifest" as TV that's 'so bad it's good' rather than being a truly well-written series, and that's alright. I'll keep watching to see where the storylines go from here.

Novelty is wearing off

This is to me the worst episode so far as the story is dragging a bit and the writing got sort of silly (it was a damn cool boomerang). It had me excited for a new entity to be introduced into the plot, but what it turned out to be was fairly disappointing. Will still continue watching as overall the series has continued to be just alright.

Exciting Episode [8/10]

Warning: Spoilers
Reaction / Review for Manifest Season 1 Episode 4: Episode 3 was great and I gave it a rating of 8/10. I think Michaela and Jared still have feelings for each other. Now they see grey statues? Things got weirder. Something that sucks about their ''powers'' is that while they hear the message, example in this episode the ''save him'' message, they don't know who they are supposed to save and this can lead to serious mistakes. The fact that there was even a secret passenger on the plane makes the whole thing even more interesting. Overall a very entertaining episode and im excited to watch more. My rating is 8/10.

Most of the people who watched it isn't patience enough to wait what's going on. They just want fast answer.

It's a trap!

Sci fi fly paper used to attract us, exciting beginning and potential for the series, and now episode 4...soap opera!

I gave this series an "8", this episode a "1"...I see that 8 being down adjusted next week, unless they do some magic in the meantime.

Nope...just no...

Sci fi fans stay away...This is not a science fiction show. It is a family drama and nothing more. I wouldn't be surprised if they drop the sci fi element and stick just to family drama..Its just drama and nothing more.

"The Event 2: The Lack of an Event"

Yet another TV drama by NBC that doesn't actually go anywhere after the first 10 minutes of the pilot.

Watchable
myotherpetisdog26 July 2021
I am starting episode 4. It is watchable, but at times, actually very many times acting is very poor, I mean all actors's performance. There are scenes where actors seem to be OK, slipping back in the next scene. Josh Dallas is very very bad for the leading role. Cal, the twin kid is miscast-he can't act at all. Supporting actors have no acting skills at all. As for the story, lots of silly moments, will see...

Unfulfilled Potential and Underwhelming Execution
jeroen-10622 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
From the onset, episode 4 of the first season of The Manifest managed to significantly undermine its own potential. The performances ranged from tolerable to decidedly subpar, with one notable display teetering on the brink of unwatchability.

The woman tasked with smuggling a character onboard the vessel was, without a doubt, the nadir of the episode. Her performance was disconcertingly stilted, hampered by a delivery that managed to be both monotonous and overly dramatic. The result was a character who was as compelling as cardboard and a subplot that languished in mediocrity.

However, the blame can't be placed solely on the shoulders of the actors. The woeful writing did them no favors, depriving them of any chance to salvage the scenes they were in. The dialogue was full of cliches and stodgy exchanges that reduced the characters to one-dimensional caricatures rather than fleshed-out human beings.

The directorial approach, too, left a lot to be desired. The artistic interpretation was sorely lacking, transforming what could have been a compelling drama into a banal soap opera. The scenes were shot with a lack of nuance, the framing was uninspired, and the overall direction failed to breathe any life into this lifeless script.

In sum, episode 4, session 1, of The Manifest fell disappointingly short of expectations. It is a clear testament to the fact that a high-stakes storyline is no guarantee of high-quality television, especially when acting, writing, and direction all fail to hit the mark.
