Turbulence
audaciousness29 March 2019
Manifest's "Turbulence" is a step up from last week's episode, but it still leaves a lot to be desired. There was some interesting character development for Michaela and Jared here, which I enjoyed, and the mystery is beginning to progress a little bit quicker.

While it's not at all at the level of the Pilot, it's an improvement and I can only hope that it gets better as the season progresses.

An anthology?
Penroze21 April 2022
Surprisingly, it seems like the series is shaping up to be anthological in combination with its over-arching plot. Within the whole plane story, the affecteds' "callings" appear to be leading them to solve different mini mysteries (such as absolving the imprisoned Adio last episode). I like this approach, but hope these two angles can remain balanced.

Exciting 3rd Episode [8/10]

Warning: Spoilers
Reaction / Review for Manifest Season 1 Episode 3: Episode 2 was great and I gave it a rating of 8/10. Im curious if we will get some answers in this episode. The show already is a mystery but that woman got murdered? Now I just have even more questions. Mentioning aliens and demons, I like that, I hope at least one of these will appear in the show because right now I have no idea what's going on. So is Ben going to pretend that he doesn't know about his wife having a boyfriend? Why they don't talk about it? It seems like Grace chooses Ben over her boyfriend, the right choice. Very exciting episode overall, I really enjoyed it, great pacing. My rating is 8/10.

Getting better!
djcheers28 October 2018
I have to disagree with these 2 star ratings here. It really wasn't that bad of an episode. It was really good. Interesting story line, full of mystery and surprises. It also gave us a peak into Michaela past that was very interesting. It is definitely better than last weeks though. This one was more fast paced than the previous one. I have to admit, the last one did get a bit slow! This ep has got me pumped for next weeks! I'm really looking forward to see where this show goes next, coz honestly, I have know idea what is going to happen, but I'm down for it! I just hope it doesn't turn into what happened in Lost.

Don't waste your miracle on pain
Hillius23 May 2021
Another excellent episode in what is turning out to be a quality production with some veteran actors. Other viewers who claim this is going nowhere must be in some kind of hurry to solve the mystery that is turning out to be full of all kinds of twists and turns.

It was good to see Daryl Edwards in a larger part, but here the actor who caught a lot of screen time this time around was RJ Ramirez as Jared. Never having seen him previously, he puts off a kind of Karl Urban vibe where he is calm and cool on the surface yet ready and capable to rip someone's throat out in a heartbeat. In this entry we see him struggle between wanting to assist Michaela while being pressured from above to play by the rules and keep quiet.

A great side plot into a murder to solve leads Ben and Michaela on wild and crazy chase that ends with another good deed done twice. The mystery deepens as. Saanvi finds out more about the mysterious genetic marker which only leads to more speculation as to what happened during that fated flight. Good subplot on government conspiracy and ending with some wholesome family bonding. It was an all around very satisfying entry into what is turning out to be a very decent show.

9/10.

This show is going nowhere!!!
garabedian12310 October 2018
Is this still the first episode? It amazes me how they can take 1 episode and turn it into 3 by adding drama that no one cares about. Every one has to have a conversation with everyone else? It does not make good tv time. Talkinb about feelings for 45 minutes is not good television...especially with these actors

Short train to nowhere

It's like NBC thought they could use the playbook from "The Event" and hope that no one would notice.

Stealing from "The 4400" and "The Event!"
lydiagaebe-169-19716919 October 2018
I agree with the reviewer "spirit cymbal" that Manifest draws on short lived show "The Event." I also see elements of the great science fiction show called "The 4400." The "4400" involved people snatched from various locations at different points in time and then they all suddenly reappear un changed from the sometimes many years since their snatching. In "The 4400" the people return with interesting mental abilities that threaten the ordinary folk.

Is "Manifest" turning into a muddled science fiction soap opera? I don't know. I'll just rewatch "The 4400" on one of my streaming apps.

The NSA trope strikes again
crsunblast20 June 2021
Yet another show where the NSA shows up when anything paranormal occurs, like the NSA is some kind of all-knowing secret police. Folks... that's not what the NSA does. And even if it were true that the NSA were some kind of clandestine alien-seeking task force, they wouldn't announce it to the world every time they show up. Rather, they'd impersonate and introduce themselves as agents of the actual agency that would be investigating these things... the FBI (or, more likely, professional specialist contractors working at the request of the FBI).

Juvenile children's show writing
jeroen-10622 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The episode "Turbulence" from "Manifest" presents frustrating plot holes that undermine its credibility. Notably, the handling of the stolen necklace is particularly juvenile. The thief inexplicably leaves the stolen necklace out in the open on the front passenger's seat while driving, an absurd decision that feels more at home in a children's show than a serious adult drama. This lack of thoughtful character behavior, coupled with poor pacing and unconvincing reactions, leaves the episode feeling unsatisfactory and disappointingly shallow.

Character development and interactions feel overly contrived, and the plot twist involving a clumsily handled stolen necklace feels more like a daytime drama than a prime-time network show.
