Fun, But Not The Lucifer You'd Expect
ecatalan984 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This is the second of two "canned" episodes that the producers originally wanted as part of a future season 4. Much like "Boo Normal", this episode is practically devoid of any connection to season's 3 epic finale.

"Once Upon A Time" is a "what if" episode, happening in an alternate universe. If looked as a separate thing from the core of the season, you might enjoy it a bit more, but most Lucifans would've preferred the aftermath of episode 24, "A Devil Of My Word". This episode was much more fun to watch than "Boo Normal", but not by much.

The writing for these two "bonus" episodes is frankly below par when compared to ANY episode from Season 3. I'm sure if Lucifer gets picked up, the producers will tighten the stories much more. In the meantime let's pray for a TRUE season 4! #SaveLucifer

Loved these two extra episodes,, hated they weren't about what i wanted.
Aktham_Tashtush29 May 2018
I was seriously, eagerly waiting for these two episode, especially after the shocking final scene in the series finale ,, i so wanted to see what happened next after Lucifer got back his face and Chloe got to see it ... but appearently these two episodes are more like "a Christmas special" and less of season 4 premiere ..

Anyway,, back to the episodes ,, the first one was good talking about some case ,, but this last one was really nicely thought about,, making us thinking what if things didn't start the way they did,,, what if Chloe was following her mother's footsteps instead of her father's ... so we got to see an alternative reality of how the duo "Lucifer-Chloe" would have met ...

Actually beside the point it was nice seeing All the characters back ,, i don't know it was somewhat emotional .

Final thought,, the series is still cancelled ,, but i'm still hopeful that some network would come forward and renew it for just another few episodes and give us a proper ending.

In the end... it doesn't even matter?
KikyNez31 May 2018
Warning: Spoilers
So, here I am again, and there, maybe, will be some spoiler... maybe not.

I was thrilled and pleased that Neil Gaiman have gave his voice! The very own creator of the grahic novel, or comic (whatever you name it, man). That was amazing to achieve, kudos to the producers. I only will dream that he would ply that part as a character if the series would continue.

Kevin Alejandro did a great job directing the episodes. Since it was planned as a "prequel" to be on the (yet non comming) season four, it was very well done.

I like how everything was turned into our free will, and how people only need a step for confidence to make things right... as happened to Linda. She didn't had that, so she didn't feel well with the choice she made to please others. How people need to see there's more to learn, as Charlotte and Dan did: don't mess with the wrong people, and be honest to that.

At last, we love who we love, and passion always have the power to move us close to the ones we love, as Chloe and Lucifer had felt.

It wasn't so great as the "Boo normal", but was good.

The Highlight, The Best point: Neil Gaiman (Lucifer's "Creator") voicing God.

9/10 for me.

A shame Fox cancelled the series, I wish some streaming network (as DC for example) take the series and make a wonderful 4th season for more of this awesome characters.

The joy, love and humor this show brings is something else.
RachelBrian29 May 2018
I loved it, I wish it was the next show after the cliffhanger they left us with, but it was independent from that which they said it would be and that was alright. This was the reason why I watched all three seasons and want season four for the joy, love and humor. I love how it showed even if we change our paths that we can still end up with the ending in life. I really had a great time watching it.

Clever writing, Great acting and skillfull production makes a GREAT show
dubwize29 May 2018
Lucifer the Series is at the stage where the actors characters seem to smoothly materialise effortlessly in front of camera and this episode is no exception. Tom Ellis as always is brilliant, smooth Lucifer Morningstar. In this episode Aimee Garcia is notably a hard ass car mechanic which is such a clever role reversal. Excellent scripts, Professional performances and brilliant direction brings out the best from the cast. Coupled with smooth editing and slick production this Series deserves more life than the near sighted Fox Corp would allow.

Definite DVD purchase of the entire series seasons is all I can hope for after this show has the sun set on the cast. LuciFans Forever. #SaveLucifer #PickupLucifer

Loved Neil Gaiman playing God! A wonderful way to have fun with the characters he created....what would happen if he changed the back story , would this alternate reality ....would Lucifer and Chloe still find each other? Where will everyone else be? Very clever, and well done!

Choices we make: we could be Heroes
d.rust13 November 2018
I waited for this story on pins and needles, I knew the premise and I hoped for the best. I wasn't disappointed. The God of Comics Neil Gaiman was kind to give us a glimpse of a slice of the Multiverse where Chloë remains an actress, in a wry twist, an actress playing a police officer.

This glimpse shows the result of a bullet having its trajectory changed by a breath's width, saving John Decker's life. We get a cascade of changes: Chloë is never inspired by her father's death, never joins the police force, never meets Dan the Douche, never has a daughter Trixie. She instead has a career after "High School Hot Tub", becoming a well known actress in the "Weaponizer" franchise.

Dan remains corrupt, never being touched by Chloë's wholesomeness. but still known to Lucifer, but this time as "Detective Dildo". Ella works in her own chop shop, again known to Lucifer. Dr Linda hasn't been changed by her relationship with Lucifer, rather by Chloë. Mazikeen is far more sadistic. Charlotte remains a scummy lawyer.

The twisty turns of the new Decker and Morningstar relationship bring us to a satisfying resolution that suggests that some things in life are inevitable.

Odd show
CinemaSlant29 May 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This apparently was an unaired episode that was shelved...and rightly so. Its an alternative universe episode that just felt off. It almost felt like a test run of the show (or early pilot) before they decided to clean up the direction of the show.

Lets hope Lucifer gets picked up by another network to continue the great storyline that ended with episode 24.

Interesting, amazing and entertaining alternate universe prequel!
Top_Dawg_Critic29 May 2018
Not sure why this bonus episode (and especially the previous one) were aired after the finale - they would have been better off being shown at the start of the 3rd season as a featurette, as I'm sure it will confuse some viewers with the chronological misplacement after such a great finale. They should have just aired this episode and not the last, as that one was pointless. Nevertheless, interesting, amazing and entertaining alternate universe prequel. Maybe a great start to a new Lucifer v2.0 series (nudge-nudge-wink-wink)?

Frustrating episode 25 and 26
kriekelsvn29 January 2019
It doesn't make sense to me why the last 2 episodes changed. Not 1 of them followed after the other. Nothing in episode 25 about Detective Decker at last finding out that Lucifer was telling the truth. Why not showing that. Just suddenly God created a new Universe. Very disappointing!

I was honestly disappointed
kincso-kiki-varga5 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I wanted to see what happens after Chloe finally sees Lucifer's devil face and/or his wings and I was so excited for their relationship to unravel in the new setting and I felt like the previous episode was just a filler to rile up people even more for the finale and all I got was this alternate universe where papa decker avoids death and nothing really happens except for the few typical Lucifer-like plot twists.... it was like starting the series all over again from a different line of direction and I didn't come this far to not finish it at the peak.....

Watch as a standalone.
galaxyharvey29 January 2020
Not the Lucifer we are used to and yet it is! This episode is best watched as a standalone, as such it is really good. Tom/Lucifer looks particularly hot in this episode, so added bonus. All the cast are there just shown in a different light, a what if... After reading some of the reviews I was going to give this one a miss, which would have been a real shame as it has become a firm favourite of mine. Think of it as a mini movie, sit back and enjoy!

You Don' t Steal from The Devil
serrakiper24 March 2019
It was interesting and funny episode. Although its weak for the season final. We don' t have any clue of what happened after all. The purpose is what? Decker and Lucifer find a way to be together?

Dissappointing and cheap
noro431 May 2018
Warning: Spoilers
If it was meant to be a prequel to S04, fine... But get the director to director school. An alternative reality where only a slight shift in uccupation is no real alternative, if you still end up the same place.

God's voice is trully horrible. Although a great idea of casting the author of comics, the voice is really not fitting. And the idea of "fate" not driven by god does not make much sense, since God is supposed to be fate (no?).

If this (and previous) episode was meant to be unaired originally, they should have stayed that way (as pointed out here earlier by hmb-51778). There was a really good reason for that.

What were the screeenwriters thinking about?
gemagemitayyo12 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Anyone who has watched Lucifer devotedly, was expecting for a real resolution. What happen after Chloe realized that Lucifer is really... well, him? Why she was in his life?, why he recovered suddenly his devilsh face? Does Luci back to hell or to heaven? Does he stays on Earth?... Does not matter, no question is answered, no doubt is solved, just a new episode that would have closed the show... but no resolution.is provided. Horrible deception. Fans do not deserve that dissapointing ending.

Absolutely Genius
kaancakil4 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
At the end, God talks about the characters in a alternate universe. They are the same person deep down.

Lucifer is still Lucifer, busy with parties and sex.

Maze is still that narcissistic person.

Dr. Linda still cannot make ethical decisions, in main universe she was having sex with Lucifer which is unethical. But after a while she realised that it was a wrong decision and stopped doing that. In this alternate universe she made the other man cry for ratings, at the end of the epsiode we see man crying and Dr. Linda is realised that what she did was unethical so thats why she is sad.

Amenadiel is still cannot make good choises, should he talk to that girl in alternate universe or not and the thing he made that caused him to lose his wings in main universe.

Dan is the corrupt cop that he also used to be in the main universe.

Charlotte Richards is still the bad person in alternate universe and in main universe she was a bad person before her time in Hell. After she finds out what happened to her body while she was in Hell she returned to her old true self, rude and bad person. She was trying to be a good person for a while but she couldn't managed to do it before she find out what happened.

Ella is still that badass person, only her job is different.

And last but not least Chloe, she doesn't seems like the same person because she is a complex person like mentioned in the first episode of the series. Lucifer couldn't make his desire thing with Chloe because of that fact.

You cannot change a person, It was mentioned in another Lucifer episode. This episode also proves that. No matter what happens, you are the same person deep down.

This is why I love Lucifer Series, if you cannot understand the meaning under the episodes, you would rate 1/10 and say that the episode was boring.

Colorful
fuzi_1529 May 2018
It may be odd to some this episode, but he is a "sweet" for the fans. Is one of the most colorful episodes that we had, and despite the DevilCop dynamics, this lost percentage and other lines were explored. And Neil Gaiman narrates this "what if?", makes me think, even in my life. Lucifer continues with your irreverence and bad behavior, but more thoughtful, although some tastes are the same, women (not incest with Charlotte), engage with Chloe (sex) and Daddy issues. He returned to singing and playing the piano, I love Tom singing, is delicious. Chloe is great, although not very satisfied with your life, more open, more impulsive, but their moral values are still there as opposed to Dan that became a dirty COP. Charlotte doesn't surprise me she always had a thing for evil, only not forgotten Dan (these two also were predestined for better or for worse). Dr. Linda became celebrity too, surprised me, was there a lot of moral choices, that she has to do, in this alternate life. Miss Lopez the same crazy, who knew where she was going to quit, I loved your tattoos. And Maze, my favorite demon and beside your beloved Lucifer. Deckerstar still there like always, we saw, a chemical formula, there are no perfect combination in this universe equal and that's what makes the show be different, the dynamics between them is unique, you know that couple that we look and see one, that's it. As a small detail can change everything, or almost everything. It was a great episode, just missed the darkness that belongs to the series formula. Moreover, it had everything (parties of Lux, Lucifer playing piano, Deckerstar together, Devil eyes..)

Terrible , DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME
ssvzholden30 May 2018
Absolutely appalling. Has nothing to do with lucifer. This is not lucifer in any way shape or form. It is clear that this episode and the last (each episode from when Chloe see s lucifer devil face) are cancelled episodes that were never meant to be viewed. As this show was cancelled they have decided to show the out takes so to speak. We are left hanging from when Chloe sees lucifer for what he really is. This episode is set on a parallel universe ffs. Wow just wow I have no words. Seriously about nothing there is no story here. In conclusion to date the last episode was two episodes back. I'm telling you it is a different series with the same actors, makes no sense very disappointing. I would not be as mad if I had of been warned. So there is quite literally no finale or ending

You guys never watch Perry Mason, do you?
isleshire-168-32809822 October 2021
This was the final show of the series. Perry Mason had a final show as well. The Perry Mason murder mystery was about a murder that took place on the set of a Western television series filming the last episode. So it was the last episode about a last episode. The judge in the show was played by Earl Stanley Garner the author of the Perry Mason books. And the show included all of the production people who had worked on the Mason series. That is what is happening here. The murder Chloe investigates starts on a television production set. It ties to a NASCAR event but quickly returns to the production area. I'm guessing the people in the show are the same people who have worked for three years on the episodes. It is a generous way of saying goodbye to everyone who starred on the show and worked on its production. IMHO.

Great bottle episode after the original cancellation
nickmurph14 January 2019
For an alternative universe story, I really enjoyed it. With Neil Gaimen as the voice of god and all characters being in different positions than the regular story, I found it to be very interesting and enjoyable. Although, they could've done more with the other characters besides Lucifer and Chloe (Maze, Amenadiel, Linda, Dan).

Circumstances
vivianla23 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Imagine if circumstances were to change. Would you end up making the same choices? God narrates that despite different circumstances people may make the same choices, be the same person in their core, be drawn to the same people.

We watch an episode where Chloe's dad was not killed but shot. Chloe is a successful actress who plays a cop.

Lucifer is a club owner still and owns the most beautiful red convertible. Lucifer makes out with Charlotte who is not his mother.

He goes to Ella's secret enterprise of fixing cars and gives her bills for helping him do a bit of forensic work, placing them in her cleavage.

Chloe and Lucifer end up meeting at a racetrack to investigate the death of a man. Lucifer found the man in his club and patted him in a way that was cute but he was dead. The man was a coworker of Chloe's and was a stuntman.

crystalline-465792 June 2018
It was really fascinating to see how things might have turned out if one small thing had been changed. I really enjoyed the episode and would have liked to see it in its original slot during season 4. Please save the show so we can see more great episodes like this.
