LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Aquaman - Rage of Atlantis: Actually above par
Platypuschow1 September 2018
At this stage based on analytics (#nerd) 2018 needs every bit of help it can get and is shaping up to be one of the worst years in cinematic history.

A Lego DC movie is not going to be the thing that saves it however this particular one isn't actually all that bad.

Telling the story of Aquaman who has lost his mojo, no longer respected, humiliated on national television and incapable of defeating his foes he finds himself the lame duck of the Justice League.

Rage of Atlantis is a tad goofier than the average Lego movie, it's silly and doesn't try to hide this. That works both in it's favour and it's detriment, depends how you look at it.

The humour is mostly childish thus making it family friendly but there are plenty of jokes for the parents too.

Visually it looks fantastic, almost on par with the cinematic Lego outings such as The Lego Movie (2014).

One thing I can't get my head around however is the use of comic book Aquaman. I mean don't get me wrong that is preferential for me but the fact his appearance is so dramatically different in the cinematic universe they're trying to establish it seems like a strange choice.

Watchable stuff for fans of both Lego and DC.

The Good:

Looks great

Strong voice cast

The Bad:

More than slightly silly in places

Things I Learnt From This Movie:

Seagate is a highly original concept and I'm sure no lawyers gave this film the stinkeye at all!

They made Aquaman in to an effeminate mess.
ThunderKing630 November 2018
How can an effeminate Aquaman have a girl like Mera is beyond me.

When they can finally get Aquaman some modern day exposure. they decided to make him into a blond hair clown prep.

Aquaman as a character is so annoying and childish. DC reinforced how lame Aquaman is which is why his fan base is so minimum.

They story is alright, animation and voice work were all good. Its like your typical children Lego movie. Which is OK. But from an overall stand point this movie could have been so much better if they didn't make the characters so immature and childish.

This movie wasn't an Aquaman movie. I bet they called it that to get people exposed and ready for the live action movie. This movie was a Justice League movie without the Flash. The movie focuses more on about Green Lantern Cruz on her journey to harness her power and Aquaman trying to save Atlantis and the world from being drained of water. But again this movie was just a Justice League movie.

To conclude this movie is only for children. No hardcore comic, DC fan would enjoy this Atrocity.

Villan was horrible!
zanimdb-0297023 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Dee Bradley Baker is a showoff, and Jonathan Adams as the villan, Atrocitus is as evil as his Red Lantern power ring. HE IS AN EMBARRASSMENT TO LEGO HISTORY!! Aquaman could've been less showoffy.

Probably the Best Original Aquaman Movie
scythertitus7 June 2020
... I mean it's also the only one, but still!

It was passable, although it went in hard on the new Green Lantern and basically spent the entire runtime making everyone look terribly weak morally and in terms of their powers.

At least there are some appearances of interesting DC characters, but I'm not sure who that's for since the movie seems to aim for a child audience, but those characters are supposed to be anything but. A strange one this is.

The LEGO mass production spews out a half-hearted adventure...
paul_haakonsen18 November 2018
So why is it that I sat down to watch "LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: Aquaman - Rage of Atlantis"? Well, on the sole reason that I have an 8 year old son who wanted to watch it.

This LEGO superhero movie didn't fare quite as well as some of the previous ones did.

Why? Well, first of all, Aquaman is sort of a bland superhero as superheroes go. And the storyline just wasn't particularly solidly crafted or constructed.

Sure it was nice to see Lobo here, but he could only do so much to salvage the movie.

The animation was top notch of course, as it always is in a LEGO produced animated movie. And the voice acting was great as well.

Even my 8 year old son whom loves both LEGO and superheroes actually fell asleep during the movie, so it just didn't have that magic touch to it.

I am tempted to say that this particular LEGO animated movie was build using the wrong bricks, or maybe even missing a brick or two to make it complete. I am sure that "LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: Aquaman - Rage of Atlantis" will find appeal with some in the audience.

Let's make the characters dumb
dshell10231 August 2018
I love lego movies as they are funny and clever. But this one failed to live up to the charm. I imagine the writers sitting down and saying: "Let's make the characters dumb. Really dumb. And Aquaman can be the dumbest of all." It lacked intelligence and failed on many levels to amuse.

Poor writing, too much rage and testosterone for a kid's movie.
tailsofthewind5 April 2020
The visuals were well done, the figures, graphics and scenery were worth watching, but I couldn't watch even half of it because of all of the overly aggressive action and bravado, even for a superhero movie.

Aren't they supposed to be able to hold themselves in-check, or do they really need to measure themselves against the next superhero just to stroke their own ego?

Do kid's movies need "Rage"?

If this was actually written for adults, then do adults need Lego Super Heroes?

If this movie is any testament, then in my opinion the answer is "no."

LEGO
Edvis-199711 October 2018
The movie was the same as cheap LEGO constructor made in China. I couldn't even believe how bad it was. Totally rubbish. Don't waste your time also don't let your kids watch it and ruin their future.
