Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell’s ‘A Big Bold Beautiful Journey’ Delayed From May to September
Image
Moviegoers will have to wait a little longer for the Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell-led romantic fantasy “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey,” as Sony has shifted the film’s domestic theatrical release from May 9 to Sept. 19.

Sources close to production tell Variety that a September release was more appealing to the studio, as it’s filled with more horror and male-centered titles, allowing the female event film to stand out.

“A Big Bold Beautiful Journey” is described as “an imaginative tale of two strangers and the extraordinary emotional journey that connects them.” Lily Rabe, Jodie Turner-Smith, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Hamish Linklater also star.

The film is directed by Kogonada, who also helmed the TV series “Pachinko” and the sci-fi drama “After Yang.” “The Menu” scribe Seth Reiss penned the script.

30West is financing “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey,” with Sony Pictures releasing the film in theaters globally. It is produced by Dan Friedkin,...

‘Better Man’ Review: Robbie Williams Biopic Would Be a Snooze, but for the Wild Choice to Depict Him as a Chimp
Image
When Robbie Williams told an interviewer that he felt like a performing monkey, he didn’t mean it literally. But that’s exactly how “The Greatest Showman” director Michael Gracey interprets the remark in “Better Man,” an off-the-wall musical biopic that surely would have seemed banal — as opposed to downright bananas — had it featured a flesh-and-blood actor in the Robbie Williams role.

Gracey takes audiences through all the expected beats of Williams’ career, from his breakthrough as a member of Take That to his record-breaking solo concert at Knebworth, but does so with a CG chimpanzee standing in for the Britpop bad boy. Against all odds, the gimmick works, distinguishing the project from so many other cookie-cutter pop-star hagiographies. If you want to fawn over this boy-band backup singer turned solo superstar for four hours, check out the “Robbie Williams” doc series on Netflix. But if you want to see...

Margot Robbie’s $59 Million Salary Would Have Been a Distant Dream Without Canadian Actress Mary Pickford’s Revolutionary Step
Image
Women like Mary Pickford walked so that stars like Margot Robbie could run.

The lamentable pitfall of pay disparity remains perhaps one of the most challenging aspects of Hollywood even today. Admittedly, the film industry has made giant leaps by shedding its old, orthodox ways and transforming into a more rejuvenated version of itself. But there’s still much ground to cover when it comes to gender pay parity and sundry other such important issues.

Despite the tide of change yet to wash over showbiz, it’s thanks to pioneers like Pickford and Alice Guy-Blaché (the first woman to take over the director’s chair), that the industry has come this close in bridging the gap between the unjust treatment of male and female actors and filmmakers.

8 Reasons Why Margot Robbie's Pirates Of The Caribbean Spinoff Is More Exciting Than Potc 6
Image
Margot Robbie's Pirates of the Caribbean spinoff offers a fresh start for the franchise with new narrative possibilities. Jack Sparrow's character has been overdone, and the franchise could benefit from a new lead. The spinoff has the potential to have a more historically inspired story and can do justice to past supporting characters.

The planned Pirates of the Caribbean spinoff starring Margot Robbie constitutes much more exciting possibilities than a straightforward sixth Pirates of the Caribbean installment. Since Johnny Depps Captain Jack Sparrow made his dazzling debut in the summer hit Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has seen a steady decrease in quality. Multiple final installments have been produced, only leading to another when it turned out to be a disappointing finale. Robbie's Pirates of the Caribbean spinoff recently got a promising update and could be...

Pirates Of The Caribbean Producer Talks Possible Johnny Depp Return And Margot Robbie's Planned Spin-Off
Image
While the franchise started losing its appeal as time passed, Disney still found massive success with its Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

Johnny Depp deserves much of the credit for that, but Amber Heard's allegations of domestic violence and a series of messy court battles led to Disney scrapping plans for a sixth movie. Depp's Hollywood career was put on hold and the studio went back to the drawing board with the franchise.

It's unclear exactly who is developing the next iteration, though the expectation is that the spotlight will shift to another character in place of the iconic Captain Jack Sparrow.

Talking to Et Online, Pirates of the Caribbean producer Jerry Bruckheimer made it clear that, he at least, is willing to bring Depp back into the fold.

"If it was up to me, of course. I love having Depp," he said. "He's a great actor and good friend.

The 16 Best Ryan Gosling Movies, from ‘The Fall Guy’ and ‘Drive’ to ‘Barbie’ and ‘Blade Runner 2049’
Image
[Editor’s note: this list was originally published in July 2023, and has since been updated.]

Ryan Gosling has that Ken-ergy. He’s Ken out of Ken. He’s Kendlessly Kentertaining. He’s the Kend all, be all. He’s the Kenvy of other actors. He’s impossible to not Kenjoy. He’s more, much more, than Kenough.

Gosling has had a long, fruitful career, but it’s safe to say that he’s never committed to a role as hard as he’s committed to the bit that was the “Barbie” press tour. Every interview and soundbite the Canadian actor gave in the publicity run for Greta Gerwig’s take on the iconic Mattel toy line has launched meme after meme, as he’s spoken about the importance of telling the tragic story of Barbie’s beau Ken. It’s a commitment that’s only seconded by his performance in the film itself, where he goes for broke with a hilarious, oblivious, and often sweet...

“I may give up on those”: Henry Cavill Addresses Being Done Dirty in Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam That Sparked His Momentary Return as Superman

While Henry Cavill defined Superman for a decade, he has now moved on from the franchise and has been working on new projects. The actor was last seen in Matthew Vaughn’s spy comedy Argylle and is set to feature in the historical action comedy The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. The actor is also working on a Highlander reboot.

During the premiere of the Guy Ritchie directorial, Henry Cavill reportedly made fun of his unlucky streak as Superman. While talking about his collaborations with Ritchie, he mentioned his alleged post-credits scene in the director’s King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. He also took a dig at his appearance in Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam while doing so.

“Why Barbie isn’t winning anything”: Margot Robbie Fans Have a Meltdown After Oppenheimer Wins 7 Oscars Including Best Picture Of 2024

The results of the 2024 Academy Awards are finally starting to roll in and at the forefront of most of those wins, Oppenheimer has taken the lead with a whopping seven wins in total. This is a huge milestone for not just filmmaker Christopher Nolan, but also the entire cast and crew of the movie, which made it into the masterpiece we know today.

But on the other side, there is Margot Robbie and Great Gerwig’s Barbie, which despite having several nominations, has won in none of the categories. Here’s why Margot Robbie’s SAG Awards outfit has Below Deck fans laughing out loud
Image
Margot Robbie was on hand for the Screen Actor’s Guild Awards over the weekend, where she and her hit film Barbie were nominated.

The blonde beauty was one of many who hit the red carpet, showing off a unique fashion style.

One Below Deck fan looked at Margot’s outfit and was immediately reminded of the hit yachting franchise.

The fan has Below Deck alum Kate Chastain and others laughing at the comparison made between the A-list star and Below Deck Med.

For those who missed it, Margot wore a black and pink design from Schiaparelli that was a mini-dress with a huge bow/train on one side.

In fact, the pink bow thing went over one shoulder, then down one side, puffing out before falling to the floor like a train.

Golden Globes Host Jo Koy Opens Show With Barry Keoghan Penis and Ozempic Jokes to Mixed Response
Image
Jo Koy kicked off his first-ever Golden Globes hosting gig Sunday with a monologue that referenced the size of “Saltburn” star Barry Keoghan’s penis and weight-loss drug Ozempic in front of top Hollywood talent, drawing a mixed response for his jokes.

“Some I wrote, some other people wrote,” the standup comedian said after one of his lines fell a little flat. “Yes, I got the gig 10 days ago! You want a perfect monologue? Yo, shut up. You’re kidding me right? Slow down, I wrote some of these and they are the ones you are laughing at.”

Koy was announced as this year’s host on Dec. 21, just down to the wire at less than a month out from the Jan. 7 airdate of the awards show on CBS.

One laugh for Koy came when he joked about “Saltburn” star Barry Keoghan’s lengthy nude dancing scene in the Emerald Fennell...

Netflix Top 10: David Fincher’s ‘The Killer’ Targets No. 1 Debut With Nearly 28 Million Views on Opening Weekend
Image
David Fincher’s “The Killer” scores a solid opening weekend win, debuting on the Netflix Top 10 during the Nov. 6-12 viewing window at No. 1 on the English Films list with 27.9 million total views following its Nov. 10 release date — a good starting performance which makes the film Netflix’s most-viewed title this week.

Starring Michael Fassbender, Tilda Swinton, and Charles Parnell, the film follows an assassin who, after a fateful near-miss, “battles his employers, and himself, on an international manhunt he insists isn’t personal,” reads the official logline.

Meanwhile on the English TV chart, Shawn Levy’s “All the Light We Cannot See” continued to stay at No. 1, hitting 10 million views in its first full week of availability. That’s a slight jump from its Netflix Top 10 debut figure of 9.8 million.

Moving up the chart to No. 2 is “Selling Sunset” Season 7 with 4.7 million total views following its first full week of availability.

Robbie Williams Doc Director on Moving In With the Take That Star and Making Him Confront His Past: ‘How Can We Force Him to Re-Evaluate?’
Image
The past 18 months have produced an abundance of celebrity documentaries, but Netflix’s newly released “Robbie Williams” sets out to do something different. Charting Williams’ rise from clueless teenager in British mega-boy band Take That to solo superstar, there’s no talking heads and no glossing over the less salubrious moments in Williams’ 35-year-career, including his relationships, drug-taking and depression.

Director Joe Pearlman, the filmmaker behind last year’s “Harry Potter” reunion and Netflix’s recent Lewis Capaldi documentary, set out to make a series about Williams confronting his extraordinary life head-on. Eschewing traditional documentary formats, the four-part show sees Williams interviewed, mostly in bed, while watching archive footage stretching back three decades.

“We did an initial interview and Rob gave a brilliant interview but it was an interview I’d heard before,” Pearlman says. “We were like, there’s so much more here. We’ve seen the footage, we...

‘Barbenheimer’ Was “Delightful Surprise” To Warner Bros; “At The Outset, People Wanted To Pit The Two Films Against Each Other,” Studio Marketer Tells Ad Confab
Image
‘Barbenheimer’ was completely unexpected, but the studio behind Barbie gladly leaned in, said Dana Nussbaum, EVP of worldwide marketing for Warner Bros. Pictures, calling the unusual double-feature frenzy one of a few unforseen and welcome twists while rolling out the Greta Gerwig’s blockbuster.

“That was absolutely a surprise to us. But one that we found incredibly delightful,” she said during a Q&a at New York Advertising Week.

The Margot Robbie-starring romp and Oppenheimer, Universal’s biopic about Robert Oppenheimer, father of the atomic bomb, couldn’t be more different,” she said. “That was a great example of a surprise. I would love to take credit for that, by the way, but [it was] absolutely, not at all architected by us. It’s something that happened very organically, but something that we leaned into.”

“When we saw that this was out there, and that there was conversation popping up around it,...

Bradley Cooper's biopic Maestro receives glowing reviews, with critics praising its risks and direct hits. The movie paints a stunning portrait of legendary composer Leonard Bernstein as a charismatic narcissist, in a marriage he believes in but can't fully live up to. Hollywood Is Taking the ‘Wrong Lessons’ From ‘Barbie,’ Says Randall Park: ‘Make More Movies by and About Women,’ Not Films Based on Toys
Image
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone to promote his directorial effort “Shortcomings,” actor and comedian Randall Park criticized Hollywood for taking the wrong lessons from a massive blockbuster like Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie.” The Margot Robbie-led comedy has earned over $1 billion at the worldwide box office, but Park said making more movies about toys should not be the industry’s takeaway.

“I feel like, just in general, this industry is taking the wrong lessons,” Park said. “For example, ‘Barbie’ is this massive blockbuster, and the idea is: Make more movies about toys! No. Make more movies by and about women!”

The interviewer added, “The lesson here should be that you gave this brilliant independent woman filmmaker in Greta Gerwig the reins to a big blockbuster movie and had Margot Robbie star in and produce it.”

“Exactly!” Park said in approval. “Think like that. It’s Greta Gerwig!”

Stephen King Is Right About Margot Robbie's Divisive $63M Bomb - It Deserved Way Better
Image
Babylon, despite its disappointing box office performance, has found new life through streaming and has been praised by horror author Stephen King. The movie delves into the complicated lives of diverse individuals in Hollywood, showcasing the dark struggles of fame and the debauchery within the industry. While some critics found Babylon to be overstuffed and chaotic, King suggests that it may be remembered as a classic in the future, akin to The Shining.

Stephen King recently shared his thoughts about 2022's Babylon, and the acclaimed horror author is absolutely right in thinking the box office bomb starring Margot Robbie deserved better. The epic period comedy-drama from Damien Chazelle stars Robbie alongside Brad Pitt, Diego Calva, Jean Smart, Jovan Adepo, and Li Jun Li as key figures in Hollywood during a significant industry shift in the late 1920s. Loosely based on real actors from the silent era of movies and some...

Rob Thomas Addresses Ken's Matchbox Twenty Cover in Barbie

Rob Thomas talks about Ryan Gosling's cover of Matchbox Twenty's "Push" in the Barbie movie.

According to USA Today, Rob Thomas, the frontman of Matchbox Twenty, was surprised when he received the call that "Push" would be featured in the Barbie movie. Reflecting on the decision, he shared, "I want to preface this by saying that I thought it was hilarious. But in Bring It On, [Kirsten Dunst’s character] has this douchey boyfriend. And there’s a scene where he was in his dorm room with a Matchbox Twenty poster in the background. There was a whole period during the ‘90s where the more successful we got, the bigger target we were. We were an easy takedown."

Ryan Gosling's Leading Man Potential Was Questioned For Breakout Role
Image
Despite being considered one of the biggest stars in the industry, Ryan Gosling reveals The Notebook director Nick Cassavetes doubted his leading man potential. The 2004 romantic drama chronicled the lives of poor lumber mill worker Noah and wealthy heiress Allie as they fall in love one summer but struggle to overcome her parents' reservations in the years that follow. Though garnering mixed reviews for its cliched writing, Gosling and Rachel McAdams' performances were praised and it has remained a fan-favorite in the near-20-years since its release.

Ahead of his role in this summer's Barbie, Gosling sat down with GQ for a career-spanning profile interview. When exploring his breakout role in The Notebook, the actor recalled that the movie's director, Nick Cassavetes, had a bizarre reason for hiring him, feeling he was not a conventional leading man. See what Gosling shared below:

[Director Nick Cassavetes] straight up told me: 'The fact that you...

The workshop will focus on short-form narrative writing skills, as well as developing the projects to align with the Sbs Charter and Sbs platforms, culminating in a pitch to Screen Australia and Sbs.

Of these 10 teams, up to four will be chosen to take their projects into further development, from which three will be chosen for production funding and commissioning with Screen Australia and Sbs.

New Hollywood Podcast: ‘Woke’ Actress Sasheer Zamata Talks Authenticity In Advocacy
Image
Sasheer Zamata has been seen in numerous TV series including Transparent, Robbie, Inside Amy Schumer and People of Earth as well as the big screen with roles in I Feel Pretty, Sleight, The Outdoorsman and Deidre and Laney Rob A Train. She also released her first perfectly titled comedy special Pizza Mind and co-hosts the podcast Best Friends with her real-life Bff Nicole Byer. Now, the actress and stand-up comedian is tackling the forever-timely topic of wokeness in Hulu’s Woke.

The term “woke” has been very much resonating through conversations surrounding social awareness and racial justice — and these days, those conversations are being had every 15 minutes. In the new comedy created by cartoonist Keith Knight, Lamorne Morris plays Keef who, like Knight, is a cartoonist. He is just living his life and his career is about to hit it big, but when a run-in with the police changes things,...

J.J. Watt Hosts SNL: Watch Video of the Best & Worst Sketches
J.J. Watt
J.J. Watt didn’t make it to the Super Bowl — but he did touch down in Studio 8H this weekend.

While not a natural-born comedian, the defensive end for the Houston Texans seemed genuinely delighted to be hosting Saturday Night Live. His charm made up for his lackluster delivery throughout a subpar show, which fumbled multiple sketches in the stretch between his endearing opening monologue and Weekend Update. Worst of all was when the footballer was asked to sing his way through a Disney satire.
