No Man's Land, a well executed story arc with great action sequences and character moments
Holt34419 April 2019
This marks the end of the series as we know it, ending this year's story arc, No Man's Land and it ended with a bang. Suspension and great drama from the episode's beginning to its end. Now we have the ten year forward in time episode to look forward to and what I've seen it won't disappoint. This overall arc have been fantastic with giving us villains like a developed and terrifying Jeremiah, Nyssa and Bane for us to enjoy and they were all perfect. As well the numerous of gangs that we got to see, giving us Easter eggs from various of well known graphic novels. No Man's Land have been one of the best Gotham story arc of the whole show, it was a hell of a ride.

There were so many great moments in this episode but my favorites were the fight sequences with Nyssa Al Ghul versus Jim and Barbara and also Bane versus Bruce and Selina, they were all so satisfying to watch, the actors has such great chemistry. Another strong point in the episode was the chemistry with Riddler and Penguin the actors shined and gave us one of the best dialogue of the episode. I loved the Easter egg regarding Penguin's eye, perfect nod to the Arkham Universe.

The Dark Knight Rises

Warning: Spoilers
This really felt like Gotham's series finale, and in a way it kind of was.

Last time we visited this haunted place the military was about to kill every single citizen on the command of Nyssa al Ghul and her hellion, Bane, but it won't be an easy task since heroes and villains alike will defend Gotham to their last breath.

When the series started it was a prequel to Batman, even the promotional materials indicated that before Batman there was Gotham, so the comparisons to Smallville where plenty, but while the latter never delivered on showing us Superman, Gotham will go out with a bang.

During five seasons we have seen Bruce Wayne grow up as young man and as a hero, and tonight's episode was no different from any other series' ending; evil was defeated, everyone reconciled, the battle was won, a happy ending.

But everyone knows there is no happy ending in Gotham City, so while tonight was Gotham's series finale next time we will see the rising of The Dark Knight.

As a series finale and a set up for what's to come I give "They did what?" a 910 out of 10.

Gotham has promised it will give us a finale we have all been waiting for, and I am ready for it.

The Best of The Best

Warning: Spoilers
I really like what they did with this episode and the No Man's Land arc. It ends the way it should. Riddler is finally embracing himself and Ed is gone. Penguin is left as number one and is undisputed crime boss with no more rivals. Gordon is now commissioner and Barbra went through the character of becoming good. Harvey is well still Harvey and Lee has gained her happiness with Jim. Selina embraces herself as the Jewel thief and Alfred is now just the butler not the badass. Joker is now the Joker 100 percent of the way and Bruce has embraced his role as the Dark Knight of Gotham. Amazing ending to the no Man's Land arc and one of the best finales ever. (Of course this is technically part one of the final.) Absolute Cinema.

What did they do?
asb_deutsch29 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
What did Gordon and the people of Narrows did to overcome Bane and Co.? A protest that overcame Bane's revolt? PROS: Dialogues and The Penguin-Riddler team-up were the only highlights of this episode. CONS: Too many flaws - Bane was speaking acting like a robot and his hair was looking like Penguin's style. Bane gets a bat-attractor LED attached to him by young Bruce and nothing happens after which seems too tame. And Alfred v. Bane was utterly lame and nonsense...did he think he was being the White Knight? Jaime Murray was sexy as we have seen her in Dexter. A nice pick by WB! See you Gotham gracefully fans next month...don't know why too much gap! My score: 6/10 and this Season: 74/11 = 6.72

Going through the motions
heatsink9822 April 2019
These last few episodes of the series with Bane have completely jumped the shark with regard to logic, not to mention story quality. In this episode, the army takes orders from Bane, who kills an officer in front of the regular grunts. The army soldiers simply shrug. The army rolls up to a fortified position with a tank, and a gunfight ensues at a range of 30 yards. With all the lead flying through the air, only a couple people get hit by bullets. The tank just sits there. Bane gets a bat-attractor attached to him, and bats subsequently swarm him, which is the end for Bane because...I'm not sure on this one. Was he vulnerable to bats or their echo-location? Whatever happened, but it seemed pretty hokey. Acting from Jaime Murray as Nyssa Al Ghul needed work.

there's fiction and there's being ridiculous
ameliek8119 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
OK, I get it, it's make believe. It's a show, but there's creating a fictional world, and then there's being ridiculous about real situations. Such as Barbara giving birth and moments later walking around in heels and fighting bad guys. She just gave birth, had a natural birth, and is now kicking and fighting bad guys immediately after? She said it was the most painful thing, yet is perfectly fine.

This show started off strong and clever. I feel they've really strayed from the characters, from the story, everything. Bruce Wayne's constant involvement with the GCPD, how he dresses, the gadgets he uses, Lucious and Alfred also working with the GCPD, the citizens seeing all them working together, did they forget that people aren't suppose to know he's Batman? Years later Batman would be in town and no one would make the connection of "hey, Bruce Wayne used some of these gadgets when he was helping the GCPD, was a skilled fighter, fought Penguin, Riddler, Joker, Bane, but who could possibly be Batman?" Same with Selena. She wears claws, uses a whip, is a skilled fighter, but people aren't suppose to know she's Catwoman later on? I feel they've strayed too far from the source material, from who these characters are. They seem to have forgotten many of these identities they're forging, are secret.

Also, while the comedy between Penguin and Riddler is amusing, I feel Penguin was more "evil" in the beginning of the series and he's gotten softer over time, most of the villains have. I mean, they're worried about hurting and killing people, they're worried about what will happen to Gotham if they leave, really? And Bane surrenders... why? Because of bats?

I'm so disappointed that the show is ending with such a poor final season.
