For someone who also has MS, this documentary was both confronting and inspiring.
Having experienced many of the same physical and mental health issues, social negativity and family concerns I felt the documentary did a fantastic job of bringing the realities to life.
The blend of story telling and visual recreations really delivered a positive and encouraging message to me
This is an incredibly inspiring uplifting film - not just for those with MS or who are currently unwell, but for all of us who want to live a long healthy life. 'The power of healing lies within you', Terry Wahls states powerfully at the end; we have the ability to turn off our disease promoting genes and switch on those for health. Her statement also that she considers having MS, amazingly even the horrific pain, to be 'one of the greatest gifts ever received' is mind blowing. Terry Wahls' emotionality and vulnerability in this film makes it very special, blended with clear science, clever graphics, and the dramatized progression from decline into severe disability and pain, then to her as she is today so active and well! This film of her journey is truly remarkable all round.
I've watched many a documentary over the years in the genre of health and well-being. Defying All Odds, in this area, is by far the most engaging documentary film I've seen to date.
The actress who played Dr. Wahls as a young woman did an outstanding job. And the authenticity of Dr. Wahls playing herself, pulled at my heart and held me captive. The terrific camera work and lighting added to the film's authenticity. Kudos to the Director and staff!
As I followed along Dr. Wahl's healing journey, I found myself inspired to make immediate changes to my own lifestyle in the hopes of discovering a new path to healing.
This movie is not just for those afflicted with MS. It's about so much more. It's about how we can live life more fully and in a way that is in harmony with nature and our natural state of being.

A beautifully filmed and produced film about an important topic. The story line is fascinating and is enhanced by Dr Wahls's narration as well as flash backs to bring her story to life. This is an inspiration for anyone looking to improve their quality of life through diet, meditation and exercise. There is clearly a better way towards health! A must see!!
Terry Wahl's story is incredible and the way this film is put together tells it perfectly. This is an informative and emotional film which helps shine the spotlight on auto immunity for those who don't know much about it, and provides valuable information for those who struggle with auto-immune diseases. It also does a good job of breaking down the science in a way that anyone can comprehend.
The film does justice to Terry's story, and Chiara Gizza does a fantastic job of playing a younger Terry. Definitely worth watching.
