Awful TV movie - cliche and very biassed
contactmaz30 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Boring film, waste of time, acting was less-than-mediocre, story was uninteresting and there were so many WTF moments!

There were many times they could have over-powered him, that sorry excuse of a deformed-scrunched-up-face of the other son who had no idea how to act, could have got away so many times, and at the end, after Sienna had been shot in the belly, the mother says, "She's OK!"... The film was trying to be something it most definitely wasn't and was trying to ram as many cliches that went against black culture as possible, to try and shock. This was evident in the many other reviews where the parents tried to explain particular bits to their kids.

No,. no, no... it's only a sensitive topic when we don't face reality. I, also, do not go along with 'group-think'. I call a 'spade a spade' and just because the majority of people might think something, it does not mean that they are right.

Highly unrecommended!

Embarrassed that it was a supposed Australian made film.

The acting, the storyline, the sheer lunacy of the whole thing. Come on! Seriously. I've seen some rubbish films before, certainly vastly worse than this as far as quality and how obvious the budget may have been, however this one I think takes for the case for the most lame - yet theoretically promising film made.

Everything from the validity of the police cars, to, well, there are just so few good things I can say about this movie, that I have to suggest around 90% of it was just plain bad. The insanity of the plot simply defies logic - I honestly don't believe the storyline could ever actually happen - I don't think a policeman on the planet would be that stupid.

The main actor, with what he had to work with, I think did a decent enough job. Someone who offers, for the most part, almost dulcet tones, transforms into a veritable nutcase in a split second. In the future I think I am going to have to wait for more reviews on a film before downloading and then wasting a good 2 hours of my life.

Hard to watch (however, not in a bad way)
samanthaikena27 April 2020
This film was hard to watch because of how real some of the wording is. The actors really are pretty great in this film. It started a little slow but after it started to pick up speed it never stopped. The ending was not at all what I was expecting. Nice work to those who were involved in shooting this image.

Another worst film! A bit mystery, but ruin by the unnecessary drama, and boring conversation! Not recommended!

Warning: Spoilers
This film start with five people visiting the grave, and the introduction of a detective "Pearce" scene! As turnout, this film is about Pearce taking Bell family as hostages, after Bell family suing Pearce causing the dead of the youngest son of the family(Trey)! Pearce shoot Trey just because Trey reach for his iPod in his pocket! Entire film a bit mystery, but ruin by the unnecessary boring drama, and conversation inside Bell family house! The overuse of the flashback scene of Pearce shooting Trey, also make the film unwatchable! Barely intense scene is, Dom fighting with Pearce at the ending of the film! At the end, we found out the truth of Trey's tragedy! Pearce kill by his teammate arrive! That's it! Another disappointed film!

Down on your knees

Warning: Spoilers
Detective Pearce (Sam Vincent) is introduced as an honest cop. While chasing some criminals he shoots a black kid who apparently went for a gun. He is acquitted of the crime but placed on desk duty. The media bills it as a racist killing and there is a civil law suit. Pearce gets drunk and then does the insanely stupid thing like visiting the family with a gun. Up to that point, I had sympathy for him. The rest of the film takes place in a living room.

Ever read a self-published novel and wonder why some people think they can write? I felt like watching the living room scene and conversations. It was stupid and filled with stereotype language. Joshua Mazerolle and Dan Rizzuto are idiots for believing their tripe was entertaining.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

Thought this was predictable but I was wrong
suzannelwood-5457025 April 2020
For lack of a better way to express it, this film is like driving a long in a car and everything seems to be normal and then suddenly your auto spins out and ends up upsidedown. This film goes places you really don't expect. It was uncomfortable at times to listen to some of the dialogue. But it really has me gripped though out. It's not your usual film.

Nothing great
loganreacher15 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I have to say the reviews on this whole movie either sound like they've been written by the same group of people or the director literally got a lot of family and friends to put up false reviews of this movie.

Although the main actor was quite good and could tell he gave his all in the performance. I felt the writing was sub-par. I honestly was hoping for better as this is a clear issue in the world today. Especially where I live in the US. The story goes on a sort of incline but them completely dies once the second half of the movie takes place in a living room. I felt like that whole sequence could have taken 1/4 of the time but just dragged on and on.

The young man who was shot was the victim of the movie. I almost felt that scene was insulting to the viewer. Why would he reach into his pocket and not just take his ear buds out while the cop was pointing a gun at him? Lazy writing to be the catalyst of the story? Either way the whole movie was well done for the budget they had but fell short on the story and execution of it. Felt quite a bit cliche

Ouch...that one leaves a mark
kennyhughes15 May 2020
It's a tough movie because that topic we all either totally agree with or totally disagree with (Racism) unravels in our face. It's an indie film which means you don't have your giant stars making it all easier to get behind which intrigues me more. Most the story and acting is pretty zesty. This stuff can get depressing but the obvious questions are important and all too real.

Great Script - Great Movie
jimlewisjr26 April 2020
Dark Bullets is ripped from today's headlines and gives a lot of perspectives to real issues while still being a very engaging film. The film never preaches to the viewer. It just shows how a tragic incident leads to a serous of events that draw and bond the characters' lives together forever. A very well written script and well shot movie make this tense, action packed movie a winner. This movie is right up there with The Taking of Pelham 123, Reservoir Dogs or Phone Booth. You will be thinking about this film long after you finish watching it.

We watched it with the family
kitusman27 April 2020
We are a family of mixed race. We thank you for making this digital movie. After viewing the film we spoke with our 3 children about race relations. They don't understand. It scares my family that our children will have to deal with racism as they grow. Really good movie.

A MUST SEE- Educational
shanne-6194421 April 2020
The movie portrays scenarios when revolving around racism and police force. We need to talk about this more as a society and this movie is a great way to start a conversation. It is a must see, as it provides a sense of education about racism and for those who may not understand what occurs for some people's day to day life - very sad but true. Great job!

Tense, wise
ueprod27 April 2020
This film is gripping and masterfully crafted. It offers a real look at issues in our world but unlike most movies that tackle such concepts, it doesn't come across as preachy nor is the sense of morality definite. This is a smart picture with excellent acting, directing, shooting and a well designed story. Taking into consideration the budget makes it even more stunning.

Not your safe Hollywood Movie...
scottitsallgood23 April 2020
I have seen a lot of films on race and prejudice over the years. I have to say this film's dialogue has such candour it was almost shocking and made me feel uncomfortable in my seat. The events in this movie will keep surprising you. There are no punches pulled here. It is raw and it is, to be fair, quit realistic in its treatment of the subject matter. The actors, although relatively unknown don't detract from the quality of the acting, quite the opposite, they put on amazing performances. It's worth a watch.

The laws of probability can be a real mean... Warning: Spoilers
This is my first time seeing renowned voice actor Samuel Vincent in a screen role. I've been a lifelong fan of him and he gives a fantastic performance here. He's absolutely ferocious. I've never seen or heard him play a role like that before. And his performance is shocking because Vincent is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet and he usually plays nice guys as well.

The script, while clunky at times, is incredibly well-researched. Detective Pearce, a growling menace sporting a full beard, is the very embodiment of white fragility. An unholy blend of Laurence Fox and Brock Peters, he whines about his life being ruined and takes offence to being called a racist, then rattles off everything about black culture he doesn't like. He thinks he's a hero in a Greek tragedy. His name is even Jason. But being confined to a desk job isn't exactly comparable to having a mast head fall on you. No, Jason is the villain. A villain who goes crying to his wife and daughter whenever he's sorry he got caught.

The dialogue between the Bell family feels incredibly natural. There's so much heart and humanity between each of the family members. Terrific performances as well.

The beginning of the film shows the family man side of Pearce. Vincent's down-to-earth charm comes through here as he playfully interacts with his daughter and his wife. His family bring out a startling amount of humanity in him.

This film is very cleverly edited and, for the first quarter, jumps around in time.

For once a character calls out the system for being racist, not just one bad apple.

However, the film does have the racist white cop dropping the N-bomb on one of the sons. This wouldn't be a problem except that the film was written by two white guys. This isn't Sam Vincent's fault. From what I can tell, he's one of the least racist people you'll ever meet, and you can tell he was uncomfortable saying the word.

The script was written with good intentions (possibly), but that was a big misstep. It seemed like these guys had the same entitlement as Tarantino.

It's not perfect, but it's better than I expected.

A must watch thriller full of intense and informative moments.
sungillfilms24 April 2020
The messaging of the this film is often under represented in Hollywood. Torn: Dark Bullets brings that to forefront in the "in your face type of way." It's hard to watch but you can't look away! The thrilling scenes between the mixed cast captures realism in a unique manner. In addition to that I can tell the film finely crafted by talented individuals. Must Watch!

A Necessary Ride
GilbertS-8528 April 2020
Torn - Dark Bullets begins with a police detective who catches a call that forces him into a dangerous encounter with a black teen.

Sam Vincent, as Detective Pearce, puts on a fantastic performance, and it's hard to stop watching him as his charisma and tortured soul fills the screen. So much so, other actors have a hard time keeping up. This movie is not a comfortable ride as we the audience experience the consequences of racism and police actions, but it's a necessary ride nonetheless.
