The days of the zombie craze are over, everything has been done. And yet, it hasn’t. Movies like “Zombie on Sale” still manage to surprise. The Korean movie that had its international premiere in Udine, is the director’s first. You can find the interview of the director and actress Um Ji-Won here.
So, what is the film about, will you ask? It follows the adventures of a family, in a remote South Korean village.
Man-Deok wants to fulfil his late wife’s dream and go to Hawaii. He spends his days with his same-age friends. He lives with his first son, Joon-Gul, his pregnant daughter-in-law, Nam-Joo, and his younger daughter Hae-Gul. The middle son, Min-Gul, comes back after having been laid-off. Their lives take an odd new turn when Joon-Bi bites Man-Deok. The family adopts the (spoiler alert) zombie when they smell profit in the youngster’s bites.

I must admit, I adore veteran actress Na Moon-hee! Time and again, the 77-year-old has proved to be a scene-stealer in a career spanning more than five decades, whether it be in her supporting roles in films such as “The Quiet Family” and “You are my Sunshine”, or her recent leading roles in “Miss Granny” and “I Can Speak“. Like “Miss Granny”, her latest film “A Little Princess” once again sees her team up with a much younger actress to much comedic effect.

Nandini Reddy's Oh! Baby starring Samantha in the lead is the Telugu remake of a Korean film titled Miss Granny. The original has been remade in different languages across the world and has tasted success everywhere. And why not? The war among women in a patriarchal society is present everywhere too. You would think that bearing the brunt of living in a culture where men and masculinity are valued over women and femininity would bring women together as natural allies. But that's hardly the case – patriarchy is sustained and celebrated because people of all genders buy into it...

Korean entertainment powerhouse Cj Entertainment has amped up its overseas filmmaking efforts to the point that it is now producing more movies outside Korea than at home.
At FilMart in Hong Kong, Cj unveiled a slate of 13 new titles hailing from the U.S., Turkey, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam.
“Our aim is to find hidden gem-like creators in local industries, and support them … by producing quality local films together,” said Jerry Ko, Cj’s head of international.
“We are not just passive investors. In Thailand and Vietnam we are working with partners but are also fully involved in packaging, casting, distributing and selling,” said Choi Yeonu, chief producer within Cj’s international production team. “And we have strong IP.”
The company’s “Miss Granny” has been remade in seven countries, while its “Sunny” has been made in Korea, Vietnam and Japan. A fourth, in Indonesia, was unveiled earlier this month.
