Sweet Potato Fries

Warning: Spoilers
Natalie (Megan Park) score 160 on her LSAT the night her father has an accident and dies. So instead of going to college for law, Natalie goes to a different kind of bar where she meets her friend Jack Daniels...for a year. Natalie's mom is murdered the night they had an argument with Natalie being a loud obnoxious drunk. Natalie now believes the deaths were connected.

The film is light on suspects and clues. The best clue comes from the ominous soundtrack about midway through the film when a certain person is on the screen....might as well has been the Darth Vader theme song.

The story was a bit of a bore. It was supposed to be organized crime, but we don't get to see those folks. Made for TV, Natalie doesn't even shower.

Absorbing enough whodunnit
phd_travel30 January 2019
Mildly involving thriller mystery from Lifetime stars Megan Park as a woman whose Mother is killed in a robbery or was it? A writer played by Stephen Colletti warns her it may be linked to her father's accidental death some years back.

There is an easy chemistry between the lead actors and the dialog is quite well written. It's not too hard to figure out whodunnit but as in most Lifetime shows it's mildly entertaining to see how they figure it out.

I really got into this movie, I was'nt expecting it to be great but turned out I was wrong ! Good cast , decent storyline , and enough suspense here to keep the viewer engaged throughout. I do recommend you watch it , one of the better ones !

A Daughter's Betrayal!
lavatch25 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
One of the most interesting characters in "Did I Kill My Mother?' is Brody Long, a mystery writer, who takes an interest in the recent murder of Laura Romero, a widow living in the sleepy community of Marshall Falls. Laura's surviving daughter Natalie is accused of the crime and, of course, Brody will be falling in love with her and writing her into his next book as the protagonist. The name of the book: "A Daughter's Betrayal."

The strength of the film was the snappy dialogue that came out of the mouths of an interesting batch of characters. There is Nick the Sheriff, the old friend of the family, and his associate, Detective Caitlin Monroe. Then, there is Natalie's bestie, Shelby, who always has her back. Rudy is the restaurant proprietor who makes the greatest fries on the planet. Ethan is the hot-headed ex-boyfriend, who is also a suspect in the mother's death because she loathed him. As a spark plug, there is the gossipy neighbor, Mrs. Ledbetter. But the key relationship is that of Natalie and Brody, as they work together to solve the crime.

Natalie's beloved dad Andy had died under suspicious circumstances as he was investigating the Manzotti brothers. His death on Vernon Bay was ruled accidental when he apparently started drinking again. But the sleuthing Natalie comes across the tox report that has been completely redacted. The question is: why? The answer will solve the riddle of who killed both Andy and Laura Romero.

Natalie and Brody form a bond based on the loss of their parents at an early age. The ties run deep as both characters regret snapping at their loved ones prior to their deaths. But their commitment to truth and decency is apparent as they come to terms with their past and share the memories of how deeply they loved their parents.
